  • Oh my goodness! Emmy is so talented. It's like she was born to sing. This song is quite beautiful, and it's perfect for Emmy and Dolly. They also sing well together.

Emmy just continues to surprise me with everything she does. She's so gifted. Is there anything she can't do?

  • Reminds me of my mother and I <3 Dolly&&Emmy sounds so beautiful and amazing together too

  • this is a great song but how does dolly parton get to credit herself on the soundtrack as the composer when the song is hundreds of years old?

  • Beautiful harmonies of a real Midwestrern and Irish Bluegrass brought together by the multi-talented, Dolly Parton and Emmy Rossim. Great song!

  • <3 i love this song!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOVE

  • Only movie I've been to that received a standing ovation....

I cried my eyes out...it was so beautiful.

  • @BattySam I think it's only on the Songcatcher soundtrack.

  • "Songcatcher" is a beautiful movie.... and the music just makes it better. And the scenery!!!

  • beautiful :)

  • This is an excellent movie and soundtrack. If you like bluegrass and mountain music, I highly recommend both.

  • @tinawright08 I believe that this style of singing still exists today...mostly through folk and bluegrass, especially in Southern Appalachia. But it isn't as 'advertised' through labels and media. Though, I'm not infallible, I very well could be wrong, LOL... ;-)

  • @BattySam Unfortunately, this beautiufl song is only available on the "Songcatcher" CD.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG AND THIS KIND OF MUSIC PEOPLE DON'T SING LIKE THIS NO MORE THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS SONG.

  • beautiful!

  • :D Unexpected duo. Really good, too!

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta MISERABLE SOUL

  • @jackstrawfrmwchta YOU DO YOU IMPRESS THE MOST? YOURSELF?

  • Amazing I was not expecting Emmy to do that

  • Dolly Parton has never strayed too far from her roots...she is amazing and Emmy Rossum can sing country better than most of the so-called country female singers out of Nashville.

  • OH MY GODDD I'm doing this for the talent show. But not in this countryfied sound, cause I can't pull it off. Eep, now I'm super excited!

  • omg, im doing this a the talent show too! hahahahaha ;P maybe it's the same one ...

  • Wow. Emmy singing country. relly good. I like her love voice a lot better than her soprano.

  • Soooo unexpected, but fantastic.

Dolly, you can do no wrong.

    Emmy, you are spectacular.

  • Emmy sure knows how to use that country twang! lol I love it. Where is this from? (I probably should read the description to answer that question though XDD)

  • I sent this to my oldest when a guy tried getting too serious; I underlined the parts of heaven turning to hell & he left the yr the child was born. My ex walked Aug 7-8th; daughter born that prev yr mid-Sept. He was gone until her HS grad.. He came & DH (20yrs) & I firmly told him to leave. She has our name, leaving bad life behind & the deadbeat baggage. He tried to hand an env to her she refused telling him he was a sperm donor, nothing more b/c there was her dad, pointing @ DH, her true dad

  • good job mom

  • Yeeeeeeeehaw! This better than 99.8% of the music coming out of Nashville these days. I'm glad that Dolly Parton hasn't lost touch with her roots. She's a helluva singer on this kind of stuff.

  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this. I used to listen to this over and over.

  • 23. 24 on September 12.

  • Thank you for posting this (wonderful and wonderfully sung) tune, and equally, for the information about the artist's finding the way through to producing the unique magical sound.

  • They needed to make a music video pf this song, it would have been amazing!

  • i love this. songs just don't tell stories like they used to.

  • they are both good singers

  • I don't mind Country music, but not really a fan of this music, that Tennessee folk, however Emmy can sing! From Opera to Country. Don't know why but what comes to mind is Natalie Portman's SNL Rap...I think Emmy could do rap/hip hop too...if she so desired.

  • totally agree with you

  • @mattman2900: I'm very eclectic when it comes to music; hwr, I must admit I don't care for ALL country. Mostly, I like OLD country like old rock & easy listening. I grew up on Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, even Otis Redding, Nat King Cole, AC-DC, Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Prince (even early bootlegs)... Back when I was singing, I only had the voice for country & more easy listening/alternative like Lynn, Jewel, M. Moore, etc until ruining my voice; Now my girls sing

  • i like THIS SONG!!

    emmy rossum can sing anything!!

    i love dolly parton!

  • Emmy's voice....*sigh* Freakin amazing. Dolly's one of my favorites too

  • Never knew Emmy could be a very convincing country singer. I liked it.

  • Love this movie, and this song. Emmy has a great country voice.

  • The same old history.

  • emmy is really good at country singing!

  • wow. this is great. what talent from emmy.

  • This is brilliant. Like you I usually don't like this type of music, but this is something to be appriciated :)

    Thanks for putting it up.

  • thankx i like this song

  • ...Ama....ama...amazing.

  • where can i buy this cd from because i want to get and dolly parton and emmy rossum sings great together

  • It's on the Songcatcher OST

  • heel mooi beautifullllll

  • beautiful!

  • Emmy is so multi-talented! And of course, Miss Dolly is a classic. (-:

  • Quite the accent Emmy can put on

  • Dolly is singing the part of the mother. Emmy is sing the part of the daughter. when they sing together Dolly sings lead and Emmy sings harmoney.

  • emmy is brilliant even then...

  • This is one of the prettiest songs in the world! (my opinion)

  • This song is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Both of these women have phenomenal voices, and the blend of the two of them is just beautiful! And yeah, when they harmonize it's tough to tell who's who. Doesn't matter, this is gorgeous!

  • thats so special, i love it. this song is so beautiful.

  • First chorus - Emmy low Dolly high

Second Chorus - Emmy high Dolly low

Their voices sound less dissimilar than I'd have imagined.

  • Are you sure we're listening to the same video?

Because for me, it never changes.

  • i think dolly always sang high

  • Actually, Emmy does sing the higher part in the end, but not at the second chorus.

You have to have a keen ear in order to differentiate the two at times, but in the beginning, it's completely apparent who is who.

  • emmy is the one singing low in the chorus

  • If you can't tell which is Dolly and which is Emmy, then you're an Idiot. Just listen. The song is Gorgeous.

  • I cant :D I'm idiot? or they just sing too perfect... :D

  • Well I mean that for chorus only,LoL :D

  • ElladoraDuBois: That's BS, Emmy is the lower one throughout the song.

  • OK, as to the high/low question, it's changed. During the chorus the first go around, Dolly's singing the higher, and Emmy the lower. During the second go chorus, Emmy sings high and Dolly sings lower, and so on switching. And then it goes back to the first. Listen and you can tell if you listen.

  • Emmy sounds GREAT!

  • is emmy singing the high or low?

  • The high part when they are singing together.

  • really? I thought she was singing the low part. it sounds more like her.

  • I'm pretty sure the high parts are Emmy. The voice sounds more youthful and more like Emmy, at least to me. ::shrugs::

  • The low parts are Emmy Rossum....

  • Magic .

  • we played a song off this soundtrack at my dads funeral...he loved this movie. I really like emmy is this movie and all the songs in it too

  • SHHH, dont tell anyone but i secretly like this kind of music

  • Emmy is an amazing talent and was so good in this movie and on this song with Dolly! Dolly has an amazing talent to harmonize with other singers, as well as a songwriter, singer and performer!

  • Nice!! Thank you!!

  • Wow! I thought Dolly and Alison Krauss had tight harmonies, but her voice and Emmy's blend "like kin-folk", as Dolly would say. This is beautiful.

  • Great ^_^

  • I love this song! I think they sound very much like a real mother and daughter.
