the first half of the movie was good, the second half was absolute shit... dragged out for no reason and utterly boring. anyone watching the full movie, once you've seen an hour - turn it off, you've seen it all.
Waste is sometimes a subjective concept, because items that some people discard may have value to others. It is widely recognized that waste materials are a valuable resource, whilst there is debate as to how this value is best realized. Such concepts are colloquially expressed in western culture by idioms like "One man's trash is another man's treasure."
Waste is directly linked to human development, both technologically and socially. The compositions of different wastes have varied over time and location, with industrial development and innovation being directly linked to waste materials. Examples of this include plastics and nuclear technology. Some components of waste have economical value and can be recycled once correctly recovered.
I'm an architect, right now I am studying a pretty much worthless master degree to see if I can improve my chances finding a job, but I agree with him, I've also noticed that architecture is worthless and these days it is more about ego than anything else... but I don't agree that we will "destroy the planet", we just don't have the capacity to pull that one off. The root of environmentalism is to have a good environment for our survival. The planet can take care of herself.
Over the past several years I have really started paying attention to how we as a human race have been treating our environment, And most recently with the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico I truly became more aware of one chilling fact, Should we not alter how we treat the earth, Our HOME, and if we do not as a nation, as a species, voice that hey, I want to be here 50 years from now and say, we made a difference for the future that is clean and effective.. Then we have truly condemned ourselves.

haha can one hire him to build a house like that. I'd love to have a place like that on a bit of land and live sustainably, grow your own vegies, have a cow, some chhoks..get away from the damned greedy grid. Tired of them always putting up rates etc.
The celtic warrior is on board with this. i mean when you think about a house that can survive without going to the store...your off the grid..out of the hands of bankers n such all you gotta worry about is the environment around you....which is how it should be.
I'm on board! I'm moving to Taos as soon as I possibly can. I want to move into an Earthship and totally live off the grid. Can you imagine 2012 when you're already in the desert and have your "compound" set up? I say "Bring it On!"
@MrsPredNZ The tires are completely sealed in concrete away from the elements of erosion. There's no "leaching" whatsoever. The bottles are made of glass, not plastic. The cans are made of aluminum and pose about the same danger as an average homeowner's aluminum step ladder.
Google "earthship" for more information. Read and learn.
There must be a way..... can't we all do this to some extent? surely? Come on creative, intelligent people, lets find a way, one small change at a time, everything is a matter of time - let US, not THEM, choose how long it takes and what consequences we are prepared to face, if any. Work it from the bottom - up. Thank you Garbage Warrior team, you got me thinkin!! NZ warrior :)
I can't stop thinking about the movie! Amazing story of a man who not only believes that the US is not thinking about where we are going, but has new ideas of how to improve our world, and is prepared to fight for them through the system, as well as giving the technology to other countries.

In biology, waste is any of the many unwanted substances or toxins that are expelled from living organisms; such as urea, sweat or feces.

Waste (also known as rubbish, trash, refuse, garbage, junk) is unwanted or useless materials. Litter is waste which has been disposed of improperly.

A great Idea but some of those things he uses for the houses can leach tocix chemicals, like ruuber tyre's plastic, etc?
We also need to use safe material as well.
