I would buy tickets to hear this guy sing even if this were the only song he sang all evening! My all time favorite song and his rendition is one of the 2 best I've ever heard.
Beautiful..... my Dad passed away this week. He loved Finbar Wright. He always made the trip to the Limerick Concert Hall to see him. I had the honor of being with him at these shows for many years. Thanks Finbar - for making my Dad happy, content and proud.
All Irish man or woman can help but stop what they are doing, close their eyes and listen with their hearts to these words. Why the Ireland they love so well, no matter the land they now reside within, the Isle they came from remains within, and for if even for just a wee bit, they return to.
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for all the great music you're sending me. Honestly, especially in terms of classic music, you are my best teacher! Stay well, dear friend, and keep sending the stuff of life successfully.
No disrespect ,, love the song ! How can I not ,, but I hope to ask a question ! Such as who was the top IRISH tenor of the nineteen fifty's(early and late) who may also have sung this particular song !??
You should here him sing RAGLAN ROAD. It would make you think Patrick Kavanagh wrote it with him in mind to sing it. Makes the hair stand on the back of your neck. Does anyone have it by any chance?

A great song. Interesting that the words were written by an Englishman that had never been to Ireland.

Emotions can but be stired with such a emotionly moving rendition of Danny Boy. One cannot but feel the meaning of the song.
The meaning is artfully conveyed by this outstading artist.

Hello, I'm french.
What does "one cannot BUT feel" or "Emotions can BUT be stired" ?
This BUT in the middle prevents me from understanding.
Thank you :)

Just an idiom of speech not used much in today's world.
The word "but" is used as an affirmation or intensifier to express exclamation.

@Cricriiii "One cannot but feel" = one cannot help feeling. "Emotions can[not] but be stirred" = emotions cannot keep from being stirred.

@Cricriiii One cannot do anything except feel ... Emotions cannot do anything except be stired.

Probably every Irish tenor since the song was written! Anyway, maybe you are thinking of Josef Locke?

My pleasure...Finbar is a bit older now so the emotion he puts into this song, now, is even more poignant!!!!!
