Very good choice of song and anime. Both themes fit complement each other with their themes of sacrifice and regret.

Advice on making it better: Stick with the song but use more scenes of Hohenheim and Father since both of them sacrifice plenty of lives. It fits well with the song anyway since there is a particular lyric saying "We were the victims of ourselves." Anyway, just a suggestion and good job on winning the award! Thumbs up from me!

Quite a boring AMV... I closed quite quickly. Although I saw the music kind of matched, the clips didn't change with the beat or anything. It doesn't really blow me away like most have. But I'm very picky, so don't let what I say stop you from making AMVs. None of us are perfect. I've seen better, honestly, but you did a decent job.

@XRozelX You obviously don't understand the way I edit. When I synch, I synch to the singer's voice unless there's no voice at a point in the song (Such as the breaks in between lines) then I use the background music.

It also made the video more interesting and connected to the sound rather than the beat of the song which was a clever way to make the video all the more better. Apparently some people can't help but wank on awesome videos. If you say the video doesn't capture the mood of FMA: B you clearly weren't paying attention while you were watching the AMV or the show. This is an amazing video and it deserved Best in Show. And creative affects distract people with shinies, but really are just annoying and detract from the AMV. Amazing job, I love this AMV! The audio/visual syncing is spot on and the song choice is stellar.

Was best in show decided by fan vote or something? If so, I think that explains why it won. A popular song + fan-favorite anime will sway a lot of votes.

Honestly this doesn't do anything that I haven't seen in many other FMA videos, and the lack of effects is fine, but even the cuts and mood sync are rather poor in spots with random scenes put in.

And if you dislike my vid that's fine, but my vid won because it's good, not because of the song/anime choice. I'm sure they helped, but it was NOT the main reason. Honestly, not to sound conceited or anything, but when you say things like you did it makes you come off as someone who's jealous that I won. Give contsructive crit that tells me the precise spots you thought needed work or don't comment at all.

@stellvia2 It was not surely voted by fans. A contest has always to have a jury. Search on YT for the contest and you shall see. I agree with Songbird21, you seem utterly jealous. Effects are less important than everything else. They only get convenient to certain parts of an AMV while flow is the most frequent and important factor and definitely much more difficult to do. I think that this video won because it is full of ideas, motion and subtlety. Thumbs up!

This was the best in show? meh. I'm not impressed in terms of audio/video sync, nor can I really see a particular story the AMV is trying to tell, nor are there many creative effects used. Usually AMVs need to utilize at least 2 out of those 3 elements to be really good. Oh well, maybe I am just tired of practically every FMA:B AMV being paired with 30 Seconds to Mars...

@Requinix17 Not every video has to tell some epic story. And effects do not automatically make a video great. Too many people are so stuck on effects they can't see the editing and hits. I've seen some pretty crappy vids with a bunch of effects. Sometimes simple is best. You need to realize that.

And truthfully, I hadn't seen a single other FMA:B vid to anything by that group at the time I made this. I was just using a song that went really well with the storyline of FMA:B.

@Songbird21 I generally agree with your points, although I am not sure if the approach works for an action AMV. You can do quite a lot of editing without fancy effects - in this one I did often see a correlation between the music and the video, I didn't see a whole lot of specific timing on beats,...etc, which can really get people into the video. Anyway I don't want to be entirely negative. I wasn't the moron who disliked :-P

It is so simple, no flashy, seizure-rific effects, or inverted colors, or whatever other AMVs have. Because of that, I believe this is one of the best, epic-full, AMV I have seen. I was at the masquerade when it was announced that this video won. I'll admit that I didn't vote or see the AMV contest at all (I know nothing about it), but I love watching the winners. I don't know what it is about this video: All the editing is very subtle, nothing fancy. Yet I was so moved that I was shaking in my seat. My friends are huge FMA: Brohood fans and were crying by the end.

In the end, that's what an AMV is supposed to do. Great job!

I thought the video was fantastic. Not much to speak out against. If you can take a songs emotion and drive it right into various anime scenes, your doing it right, nuff said. I don't even know if I can describe to you the reaction my friend and I had to this video. We were waiting the entire masquerade and AMV contest for some FMA (because a) IT'S THE BEST and b) that is what our own brohood is deeply founded in ;D) and then THIS was the finale of everything and it's so completely amazing and... we were clutching each other for dear life and screaming. Afterwards we couldn't leave the theatre for several minutes because we were too overwhelmed. TRUE STORY. HATS OFF.
