  • kool

  • pumpkin/punkin (i couldnt tell) is sooooo cute!

  • Hey it's unicyclesareperfect again ( i have 2 accounts) saying thanks! lol

  • yo! does this raise your hair?

  • @UnicyclesArePerfect No, it does nothing if you touch it.

  • Do both rollers have to free spin or the rubber has to be frictioning with the roller located near the can. It is the only thing I don't understand. Could you please help me, I'd appreciate

  • @tindicio44 It free spins. That is why I called it a roller. Perhaps I should call it an Idler?

  • @DayfallKat Ok, I got it now. Thanks !!

  • @Randomsmoshness *Salutes* I am Dave! Yognaught and I have the BALLS! YEAH YOGSCAST!!!!

  • What type of motor did you use?

  • I thought this guy was geohot for a second

  • shoot the rat lol

  • nice mousssse you got there it would be a shhhame if something were to happen to it

  • what's the thing that realizes the person that he /she is useless -Que

when he /she takes interest in making useless gens. with a mouse!-Ans.

  • You know when your a mad scientist when you work with high voltage and have a pet rat on your shoulder >:)

  • You should go with a brushless motor more effecient, faster, and powerful

  • @MegaRallycar Yeah, but they are quite expensive. Weight and power isn't a problem in this application.

  • @DayfallKat Ya thats true there very expensive im going to buy one for my rc car like next year , and does this van de grafh generator make your hair stand up??

  • @MegaRallycar Those motors are certainly very powerful. I had one in a few planes and a heli.

No, my little generator barely has enough current to keep itself charged.

  • does the galss at the top spin or no

  • @legoj223 yes.

  • @legoj223 can you make a new video showing how you built it

  • I can use teflon tape to the band?

  • @karlbiper14 I don't understand your question.

  • how many volts is the motor?

  • @karlbiper14 The one I used was 3v. But you should use whatever your motor requires.

  • how do i mske s glass roller im using legos to make myne ive got the plastic bar from the lego motor for the plastic roller but what can i use for the top roller asin a glass one can i use another plastic roller and mount the glass bulb so it touches the rubber instead tah reply asap i wana build now

  • @pyronathanpyro I am not sure I followed that, but you have to use two materials that create opposite charges. There are lists on the internet. I found glass and plastic to be the best. If I were you I would make one roller metal. That is the easiest to do.

  • Is it Ratatouille's Brother ??

  • @crazyvid300 yumadbro?

  • :40 thats what she said

  • I LOVE YOUR RAT

  • i will make one but before that,i have some questions:

-will it hurt you when you touch it?

-will it make your hair stand?

-can i use some 1.5 volts to power the motor?

please answer so i can create one emidiately .

  • @keithosmarferrer

Depends on how big you build it: No in this case.

Depends on how big you build it: No in this case.

    Depends on the motor.

  • @keithosmarferrer FAIL!!!!!!! u didnt spell immediately correctly

  • @fast11471 i am a filipino and im not good in english, so sorry!!!

  • @fast11471 You are the biggest faggot that I have ever seen. By the way, you didn't spell "you" correctly, nor capitalize it, and add an apostrophe to "didn't". Also, you didn't add a period to the end. You fail at failing. Hard.

  • @keithosmarferrer

    try crt tv

  • The word you were looking for is "spherical" not "circle"

  • how long should the motor be running for the static to go to the top of the can

  • @alvincenttan 5 seconds? No more than 10 I would say.

  • what kind of motor/?

  • @KillerJen123 Any motor will do as long as you can mount the pulley for the rubber band and you can power it.

  • Thank you for the video. i hope you dont take offense to this statement as i loved the guy but i wanted to say you remind me a lot of carl sagan mannerism wise maybe the hair too heheh I think that's totally awesome. Anyhow thanks again for the video, It is descriptive and clear.

  • in the motor side is the rubber band is connected with a charge spray brush

  • @deepanshu622 yes, you need a brush on both sides.

  • Try putting your rat on the generater

  • What do you use at a pulley that is attached to the motor? also how do you keep the rubber band from running off the pulley? When I turn on my motor the rubber band just runs off both ends of the pulleys.

  • @fieroman10 The glass roller is tapered on the ends. That helps. If you are having trouble on the motor pulley , try to sand it down so that it is slightly bulged in the center.

  • A heck of a lot safer and less complicated than building a tesla coil. I've subscribed to your channel. That is my way of complimenting this video. Good job. God bless. And I figured it had to be something like that but you showed me a working design. So I'll start with that as apposed to buying one for $195.00. Thanks!

  • how did you power the motor

  • @100reptilemaster Wall transformer.

  • @DayfallKat allll you have a rat or a hamster there cute i have on two awwww

  • can i use a cardboard roll or paper towel roll instead of pvc pipe?

  • @cyrusrom It needs to be non-conductive and strong. So I would say no.

  • @DayfallKat but if it`s strong will it be ok?

if not what other thing can i use instead o a pvc pipe because I dont have a pvc pipe.

  • @cyrusrom Something plastic.

  • @DayfallKat but if you do it with a cardboard roll will it work?

  • @talibanrules I don't know. probably not.

  • if you were standing on a insulator it wont get sparks?

  • 1:10 bow chika bow wow

  • reeally old camera or old video

  • Thank you Dr. Jackson : )

  • You kind of look like Jim Carey

  • You can also use pvc and copper for the two rollers.

  • @Thomaseddy83 Yes, pvc should work well.

  • oh guy, i dont understand anything, but i liked you :D kiss :*

  • Simple to the point. Nice vid share thank you

  • r u charging your moter with the electricity from the generator

  • Just cannnnot make it, i just chucked it, failed.

  • @rb1003 I suppose you could just buy one. watch?v=4Jf_zA5VuGs

I did, but mine had a bad roller and so I took it apart to fix it. It was pretty much how I made mine. (mind has a glass roller instead of metal)

  • Gutted this didnt work :(

  • alright thank you soo much :D

  • What else can i use if the rubber band wont move on the Christmas light?

  • @thejokapoo Latex glove cut out or something like that

  • can you please make a diagram or send me a diagram please thank you

  • where would you get hte motor?

  • @bobbymcbobberpants Radio Shack or perhaps some other hobby store.

  • @DayfallKat what kind of motor exactly? which one would i choose at radio shack?

  • @bobbymcbobberpants Well, it depends. I don't know exactly what they sell. Or what parts you already have.

  • @DayfallKat it looks similar to the motor in a hand held electric fan or some electric toothbrushes. maybe a hobby shop? I wonder... :) what if you replace the soda can with a aluminum steel/maybe carbide wire frame enclosed in a glass jar such as one for large olives(as long as you had the motor vertical and not sideways) an allowed for air so it was not vacuum like, an used say a small toy car motor with a 16volt 25amp power supply+power regulator. there are 16volt remote control cars.

  • @bobbymcbobberpants you can find a motor in a toy car or make one

  • @117alfonso where would you get an induction coil the size of a couch? XD

  • guys don't listen to people saying free energy is possible, the first rule of thermodynamics states energy can only be absorbs and then stored in a LESS effiecient state, also physically impossible to get mor energy out than put in, I would say the only exeptions are atomic bombs but they are way too powerful to be used for harnessing energy

  • So I just built one of these but the christmas light I am using does not seem to want to stay. So I bought a small halogen tube light which seems to work but makes a loud noise from small bumps on it. Is there a specific type of bulb or just something beveled? X-mas light which is beveled still does not wanna stay : /

  • @Fiki2k7 how deep is the grove you have it in?

  • @DayfallKat Oh on the pipe? Didn't catch that a grove was necessary in the video, heh that would explain it. It didn't really come up on the close ups. Thanks!

  • @Fiki2k7 I don't know. I just used a regular 1.5v colorless bulb. I thought of using a fuse without the end caps. But I am sure that would not stay on by itself. However you could then use an axle.

  • @DayfallKat i built a van de graaff myself. The roller is the glass from a fuse, on a nail. It works great.

  • You should leave it on for like a month and then see what sort of shock it will give!!!

  • FIVE BUCKS!?!?!

  • I'am so excited I'am almost done with my ion cannon! And If I could connect this to an induction coil the size of a big sofa I could probably make a reverse minimizer induction coil which will charge the air molecules in the shaft and probably if all goes well I could make a million terrawats.

  • how much volts does this produce

  • video quality?

  • @noahboa9258 Yeah, I should have known better. I should be getting a new camera soon.

  • if i make a larger version of this could i possibly get 1.21 gigawatts

  • could i suggest a writen supply list; its hard to hear ya

  • Can we use cellophane instead of rubber belt ??

  • @Gireesh092 I dunno. Probably if you can get it the motor to pull it. Anything that will hold a charge should work.

  • @DayfallKat

we need an insulator or conductor ?

  • @hitachi088 the band and tube must not conduct.

  • @mtam7777 fuck

  • dude.......you got a rat on your shoulder

  • @Thebadbeaver9 No, the rat's got a dude on its paws.

  • lol. theres a chihuahua on his shoulder

  • do u think quartz krystal would work instead of glass?

  • @10nickles I suppose so, if you could get a cylindrical piece.

  • "DON'T BITE ANY WIRES THIS TIME. OKAY!"

  • does the other end of the bottom wire connect to anything or does it just hang off to the side?

  • Great work! I have a question though. What does a CFL light do when put next to the pvc pipe while the generator is running?

  • @buddybill65 I dunno. I doubt it would do much. I really don't know why I didn't think to try it.

  • How do we hold the can in place?

(Stick it to the PVC pipe????)

  • @SuperGeo04 Good question. but yes, it does need to be fastened to the pipe somehow.

  • Q1.Does the rubber band touch the PVC pipe?

Q.2 How many rubber bands are needed?

Q.3 I dont understand what to do with the wires?

Q.4 And what to do with the light bulb, is it attached to the rubber band or roller or slightly touching?

  • hey guys could you make electro static gloves that can "attract" or move 20 kilos??? using whatever u want

  • I am making a van de graaff generator, how should I ground my bottom brush?

  • @AHW214 Haha, I am not entirely sure. A metal base plate? Another Coke can? I am not sure it matters much.

  • I am making a van de graaff generator, I have a couple questions?

Can my brushes be frayed copper wire?

I didn't cut my belt well, so some parts are wider than others, is this OK?

I glued my belt together using super glue, is this OK?

  • @EMW214 Yes, that is how I made my brush.

And as long as the belt rolls easily then the shape or glue shouldn't matter.

  • and what gives the rubber band he electrical charge? cus i dont really understand but me and my buddie have to make one for school

  • @germansheparddogs you get your charge when it rubs up against the brush.

  • @Gh0stH5wk No, it actually doesn't touch the brush. The brush is there for the charge to escape to.

  • @DayfallKat Would it hurt it to actually be touching the brush do you think? or would it not make a difference? I don't know if it would hinder it, or give it more charge? What do you think?

  • @Gh0stH5wk I don't think it will make a difference because the band isn't conductive. If contact does make a difference then a metal roller would be used on the outside of the band.

I don't think it would hurt. I just haven't seen a metal roller used and the brush will probably wear out the belt.

  • what did u power the motor with?

  • @germansheparddogs a small wall transformer

  • @DayfallKat okay i was gunna use a small 9 volt batterie hooked up to the motorthat would wrk right?

  • Hey guys i hope this doesnt mess with my pacemakAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

  • Lol the rat was so random.

  • Can you use a battery as your source of charge? I mean will it work because electricity conducts in a closed circuit so how do you get it to conduct to the belt?

  • Thank you

  • Is the glass the object that transfers the charge to the coke can or do you have a wire brush that transfers from the rubber band to the coke can or the metal sphere?

  • There is a wire brush on bottom and top.

  • @DayfallKat were can you get a mini motor please reply asap.

  • I dunno. try radio shack.

  • @thenewsk8erz you can get them in an old broken dvd player or a viveo

  • @thenewsk8erz radio shack or out of really any electronic device...small remote controlled cars, anything like that.

  • Is the bulb glued onto the pvc pipe, or it is supposed to spin?

  • it spins

  • I also have another question, does the roller on the motor go through the other end of the PVC pipe?

Also, Do the wires touch at the bottom and top?

  • I would like to know what materials you used?

  • i love pumkin

  • I like this. Thanks for the video.

  • not expained so good !i didnt understand what u might have done with the pvc pipe the motor the elastic the pen and all :S !

  • what was that glass object?

  • Christmas tree light

  • wat kind of batteries did u power the motor with?

  • Wall transformer.

  • isnt that alot of power for such a small motor?

  • AA batteries could supply more power than my wall transformer.

    Transformer:

    3v at 300ma is 900mW

    Batteries:

    2x1.5v at 2A is 6W

So the batteries are capable of supplying more power.

  • Nice! I was wondering if a simple one could be built with household parts. Good job and explanation.

  • Comment removed

  • its very easy to build

  • i build a van de graaff generator last year and it work and result big spark about 3-8 cm

  • hmm i have a fan motor from a microwave that runs off house current and i plan on using some 2 inch pvc pipe for the body and i believe that i cold fabricate a pretty good sphere but my question where could i get some vinyle? i wish to use this as the belt and what other substances can you use other then glass will metal work? the plastic is easy for me. your reply would be much appreciated

  • One roller can be metal.

I have not been able to build a bigger machine because of the difficulty in building a belt. I didn't think of using vinyl, but I think you can get that just anywhere. I got a big sheet form walmart to make a big capacitor one time.

  • so i can use the pvc for one roller? what would be the best metal? should the pvc cause a positive or negative charge and if so do i want it on the top or bottom?

  • p.s. for the vinyl could i use an old shower curtain?

  • Yes you can use pvc, it doesn't matter where you place it as long as the other material has the opposite charge.

The vinyl needs to collect static charge. Test that you can charge it up before building it. (with PVC and fur)

A device that detects static charge is handy to build also.

  • i see well i should have onew built this weekend

  • can i hook up the bottom brushes to the ground of the fan and have it all go there

  • Yeah.

  • so i just found some rubber that is black but its used for insulation so i know that it does not conduct what are the ways to see if it has carbon? also it hasa fiber that runs through its center this should not affect it correct?

  • @DayfallKat , i heard you can use a trash bag to make a belt

  • Thanks,

i am going to build mine.

Is there any animation clip which shows how it works form inside ....?

    if you know,please send me.

  • can I use cardboard pipe

  • as long as it remains dry. otherwise it will leak voltage. usually it is a bad idea.

  • Can you mate hair stand up with this device?

  • No, not at all.

  • what brand of rubber band did you use?

  • Office Max I believe. But that was so long ago that I can't be sure.

  • @DayfallKat

Thank you - one last question - did you say you were able to draw a visible spark off the top wire to your finger? Did you need the can to get the spark?

  • Hmm, I would guess it took the can to make a visible spark.

  • can i suggest you use a kitchen bowl upside down insted of a coke can

  • do you just use the glass from the christmas light or he whole bulb if u did just use the glass how did u get it off

  • Yep, it is just the glass. You bend the wires down and the bulb will come out of the holder.
