  • ughh these songs are so good. i need to get this whole tape somehow.

  • Are you honestly sure that this was only used in 1989? Because I have a 1998 recording of The 70th Annual Academy Awards which has these exact same tracks in the teletext segment after the programme.

  • @PIFMan092 Yes, this partcular sequence was definitely used only in the autumn of 1989, on Saturday mornings over the test card. However, as tonymusicman rightly points out, the tunes featured here were vultured over the following years to an incredible degree, such that no.2 is often heard over Ceefax pages of today!

  • the 1st tune sounds great!

  • as does the 2nd.

The 1st tune is the stretch (cd FUN1001)

    The 2nd is Nightwalkin.

Both from the Funtastik Music library. What I want to know is has anyone come across any funtastik music library cds past FUN1025? They seem to exist, but i can't find them anywhere...

  • Oddly enough i just about remeber this! I think it was on before Live and Kicking! I was about 3 years old or so at the time!

  • This is awesome music - when I was a teenager, I used to stay up all night listening to this!

Around '97-'98 I heard a beautiful piece of music on Ceefax, but I only ever heard it played once! I'm trying to track it down:

It had a moderate tempo, and featured castanets every 16 bars or so. The main melody was played by a string quartet, and the harmony was a circle of fifths.

If that rings a bell with anyone (not likely, I know) then please let me know what the name of the song is!

  • I think I heard a track from Ceefax in late 2006 that sounded very similar to the track at 05:34.

It was around October or September 2006 when I heard this.

  • i like the music

  • This never got played beyond about 17 minutes in its short life - although over the years we have probably heard all the remaining tracks that originally appeared on this compilation on other Funtastik tapes

  • Nice memories of waking up very early and shivering each winter Saturday in 1989, waiting for the test tone to fade out and this tape to come on though, just incase it ever did get past the 17-minute point!

  • If you like this sort of material, you could consider joining the Test Card Circle.
