Hey Hyssp, i'm currently working on a special new-media interaction art project for my university in Holland, where i need this kind of a program to track a hand to move a mouse on a pc. The PC is hooked up to a beamer, and i would like to place the webcam behind the projection screen. I'm hoping a webcam can see the shadows of peoples hand while touching the thin screen, so that it's like a gigantic touchscreen.
Do you think that's possible, and is it possible i could use your program for it?
man your program is really cool but one guy have cathed this idea and him are patenting it. if u want to know more contact me. THIS NOT IS A JOKE IS VERY REALLY
i would like to learn and share , there is a similar application underdevelopment , that application falls under MsPLU. So, if you would be kind enough to provide me with ur email address or email me , so we can discuss. thanks.
hey man! this was totaly awesome! it seemed to work better than all of the other program i tried to use. It would be so great if you could make it posible to download! It don't matter if it's not readdy, just name it as a BETA. I would sertenly want this hand tracker!
Hope you change your minde and start letting people downloading this great stuff!
Hi hyssp, right now I'm trying to do something similar, but I've not found enough information about HAND TRACKING, Did you base your project on one book in particular or something? if so, could you give me some book titles? I'll appreciate a lot. Thanks in advance.
Hi :-) No, I didnt use any book. Actually my software is very basic and I am sure you can do it much better! You have a lot of journals about hand tracking and stuff like that online, try on google :-)"journal hand tracking" or something like that.
great, man! i was thinking about doing something like that... maybe with a second webcam from the side, so as to see the 'depth' of the hand, to perform intuitive 'clicks'
Great idea! :) There are other programs exactly in the same way you want to make your own, and there are also other programs working in the same way with only one camera checking the size of the hand to see how near it is from the cam. Thanks for your comment
you dont need a second camera to judge the depth you can attain x,y and z from a single camera by comparing areas , just normalize the first frame's area as z=0 and then compare all other areas to the initial area.
very good man!!!! i saw the eagle eyes that capture the moves in the camara and helps paralitic people to comunicate with us troght the computer you can share that with foundations like that
This OS is WindowsXP using some skins themes (look at my video about that topic). This software was created by me, there are other guys who implemented it before, but that one was my BSc final project and I implemented it from scratch. Hope you like it :)
Ok :-) No, the application is not available for downloading since it is highly unfinished and I want to avoid unwanted commercial problems (licenses, etc...). Maybe someday I will try to finish it up and I will share it with all you guys :-)
this is too amazing. Too amazing. I am a Msc student of vision and robotics and I know Opencv as well as Opengl etc. But I cant imagine creating something like this. Will you show us some tutorial or something?
pretty interesting. did you look into jcl5m's videos yet? He uses the Wii controller to track things around, and it works very very well, i'm pretty sure you'd be interested.
I think he has his hand painted green.

this is no where close to johnny Lee project.
Johnny still has problems left/right mouse clicking. his software makes your IR LEDpen a drag drop mouse..

Well, ya'll should give a credit to Johnny Chung Lee for this. He is the one who came up with this idea first.
this is not bad either
