With the cancellation of the F22 and the F35 running well over budget it is good to know that the SE can be diverted to fill the gaps. Wonder if they have any plans to do a major update on the Falcon?
Seeing as the F22 program has been capped at 100 (ish) machines, due to the obvious flaws in the design. I`d be very worried if I were the US. No use bringing out a 6th generation fighter, if you cant get the 5th generation fighter to do the bizzo!
(Not saying the F15 SE is 6th generation, just addressing a "dont worry, the 6th generation will save us", remark elsewhere on these posts...) Eurofighter Typhoon is looking even better to me!
@JNT11593. Don't mean to rain down on your parade, but I'm sure it would take longer than 3 hours to remove the missiles in the CFT's, de-fuel, change both CFT's, put inboard wing pylons on, put external wing tanks on, refuel, put bombs on the CFT, And then put the missiles or bombs on the pylons.. Granted then it would definitely be able to Fu** some shit up, but unfortunately maintenance doesn't work that smoothly.. Lol
They want to make it an affordable solution to the $360 million dollar F-22..
But the silent Eagle is still gonna cost $125 million, and still 4th generation...
Still to much money for 4th generation...
I think that the $100 million dollar Russian fifth generation stealth Pak-Fa is what many countries will go with, cheaper than the silent eagle but as good or better than the F-22...
Great work on the report! I noticed it's a two-seater. Is this thing using any of the avionics from the F-15E? It seems to be closer to the Strike Eagle in overall versatility than the C model.
I think that, this aircraft to have a chance in being adopted by the USAF as a cheaper alternative to the Raptor, definitely needs to incorporate thrust vectoring nozzles. It has to be more maneuverable than the F-22, because it lacks the stealth of the F-22. Without TVC, I don't think it's worth being acquired by the USAF.And put more hard points on it, to carry more weapons.
As a matter of fact, the weapon bays can be replaced with fuel tanks similar to those found on the 'E' variant, or external hardpoints like those found on the 'A,B,C,&D' variants. It all depends on what the mission requires.
this is the best this is what should have been done sence the beginig not the raptor wich is the most expinsive piece of shit over rated nothing ever made
I love how he says it "may reduce radar signature" to radars. I love the F-15, however i do not think we should sell this to anyone. We will see what happens though.
Since we did not design the plane or see test results (let alone conduct the tests), all we can say is "may." That is responsible journalism, instead of paid advertising.
The CFTs can be changed and re-preped in unded 3 hours mean you can have a stealth configution one mission and the next you have the full combat load of a F-15E
Boeing's not targeting to sell to USAF, but you'll see in the next few years that Japan, Saudi Arabia,South Korea, Singapore, and Israel will have the F-15SE along with their new F-35 jets.
I found out that the F 15SE can only carry 4 missiles or bombs or any combination, but can carry 6 or 12 smaller bombs. Dont forget, it can also carry bombs and missiles on the wings, it just makes it heavier and less stealthy
Only four AIM-120 missiles all at once, the weapons load can be changed to six. Two sidewinders in each of the side bays and two AMRAAMs in the two lower bays under the intakes.
@131stfwFAN Yeah, I think that with the F-22 production stopped a only 187 units, the F-15SE will be a great replacement 4 the remaining F-15s. It offers some advantages over the F-22, like speed & range & is also cheaper.
wow..just made missiles interal. which is aactualy an improvement, but all in all this is one hell ove an deperate attempt to revive an aircraft long past its prime.
Im sure it was hard letting go of propellors back in the day. but it was a nessecity, this old aircraft too needs to be "let go" or at the every least take far more drastic chages than what we see here. since we could never have F-22 in large numbers.
There are more stealthy improvements than simply the missle bays. Published reports claim the head-on radar signature is about equal to the F-22!. As the story here highlights, there are also changes to coatings and vertical tail angles. The tail change effects lateral radar signature though, not head-on.
But you have to remeber that that comes with price...
But F-15SE isn´t Vulnerable to rain and F-15SE can fly witout critical dailure every 1,7 hours of flying time (unlike the F-22). F-15SE dosn´t need 30h maintanence per flight hour. Finally F-15SE doesn´t explode if somebody try to fire with BB gun and it costs just 1/3 if compare with raptor.
Looks promising. Honestly, I have my doubts about the dogfighting capabilities of the F-22 and the F-35. Sure, they're quite advanced, but they're so damned heavy compared to the Eagle, Flanker, Falcon, and Fulcrum. God help us if our fifth-generation fighters turn out to be reincarnations of the F-111! If only Colonel John Boyd and the Fighter Mafia / Reformers were still at the Pentagon to prevent all the goddamned gold plating!
Just because the F-22 is heavier doesn't mean she cant turn. The F-111 was underpowered from day one thats why it was a poor performing aircraft. The -22 has the highest thrust to weight ratio of any operational aircraft in the world(at least that all of you know of).
WOW!!! this plane is SEXI! In my opinion i think we should scrap the F-35A versions and replace our current F-15s with these which would complement the F-22.Because the F-35 is not 'all around' stealthy like the F-22, just like this F-15SE and the F-35 cant carry but a few missiles which sucks @ss. Come on now I got more balls than the F-35 got missiles.LoL. If i may add one more thing to this F-15SE, it would be thrust vectoring and canards. O man this plane would really be dangerous then.
If they can do this for the F-15 Eagle, then maby they can do this to the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet

F15 was the best fighter in the 80/90 but now it is outdated; the u.s is just trying to sell old stuff for new price; only a full will fall to it.

it is not stealth is is low radar signature excelent aircraft the eagle is the best fighter was never downed!!

this is what canada should be looking at instead of the f35. faster more range proven weapons platform and the list goes on.

In a sense, it is. I don't doubt the F-22's capability, but the F-15 is a hardened warbird. Making it stealthy makes it ten times cooler.
