  • What a bunch of BS. An overpriced car that makes loser white people feel all warm and fuzzy inside as they are driving to Whole Foods. Modern cars burn 100 times cleaner than cars in the 1970s. The difference in pollution driving one of these vs a regular car is small. Plus as others have pointed out more pollution may be made on the back end. Your carbon footprint is like you spitting or not spitting in the ocean. It doesn't make a difference either way.

  • Owners of these better keep for a long time.Used car dealers don't want them,5 years and older. The price of the batteries are more than the car is worth and are special batteries.I know an used car dealer whom mainly wholesales that won't buy them, bought a couple to wholesale and dealers don't want them.

  • @wafrederick

The batteries are under warranty for 8 years. Dealers don't want *any* car on their forecourts over 8 years old.

Prius-bashing is so boring now - Hybrid is actually a great step in the right direction. BMW have just bought (or rather swapped) the rights to the Prius' hybrid tech as they want to put it in their cars. I'm sure the haters won't be moaning about a BMW 328 with Hybrid tech.

  • @SuperApeFight Used car dealers don't want them, say get them off their lot.The used car dealer I know that wholesales lost money on them two.You don't save money with a hybrid

  • the engine on the 2009-present Toyota Prius

    Engine

    Toyota Hybrid System

    Gasoline engine: 1.8 L 2ZR-FXE I4 Dual VVT-i (Atkinson cycle)

    Power: 98 hp (73 kW; 99 PS) @ 5200 rpm Torque: 105 lb·ft (142 N·m) 105 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm Hybrid system total: 134 hp (100 kW; 136 PS)

  • @LokiCocola Dude then you need to say why then.

  • @wAlexand3r You have to back your statement with evidence dude.

  • Why is it a "free ride" when running only on electrical power? Production and disposal of the massive batteries every 4 or 5 years will be very costly and will NOT save the earth, and this vehicle will NOT average 72 mpg !

  • @CottferLAD22 it is if its a plug in hybrid and before you say 'your just using power from the grid' I feed the grid even when my plug in is charging. Yes it does not average 72mpg but i will sometimes spend $20 aus dollars every three weeks just in case i run out of battery. batteries are around 7 years depending on driving and how u treat ur batt. after seven depending on type of batt you can recondition the batt for another 2 years then new batts.

  • A domestic cat produces the same carbon footprint a year as a vw golf, so , put Tiddles in the microwave and rescue an old merc from one of those bullshit scrappage schemes.

  • How to turn a Prius:

Stick your hand out the window.

  • The Pruis sucks. It's not actually environmentally friendly, the people that buy them are just too stupid to realize that!

  • @wAlexand3r

You've been watching Top Gear obviously...

I'm sure the first solar panel wasn't very e-friendly either, but wihout it we wouldn't have decent calculators.

Porsche, BMW, VW, Ford etc are ALL rushing to launch hybrid cars. The Prius beat them to it, and for that, it's a bloody brave car.

  • @SuperApeFight

Those companies may be trying to create hybrid cars, but that still doesn't make them environmentally or economically friendly. People buy hybrids to feel good about themselves, but they fail to realize the expense of recycling the batteries or the environmental impact of the batteries sitting in a landfill or the process of mining the metal for the batteries.

These companies are better off investing in diesel technology, it's scientifically less polluting than gas

  • If you wanna help the environment more, then buy an electric car. Don't buy a prius, or any kind of hybrid because they're for uneducated tryhards who think they're doing good but don't realise priuses do more damage to the environment in the long term than most petrol cars.

  • @LokiCocola and electricity comes from?

    think twice from now on

  • performance and handling... in a prius.... uhm

  • Comment removed

  • fucking ugly toyota

  • my renalut clio diesel has a rate of consuption of 4l at 100km. I think i can beat that prius by a lot,

  • @crazycostin20 it's like 5.6l at 100km so not only ure clio but a lot more cars can beat it.. so i guess only americans find it less fuel consuming , proly cuz they are used to drive mustangs and chargers that do 30l per 100 :P

  • @crazycostin20, my uncle's vw polo does 3,7l/100km, and my mother's peugeot 308 does 6,9l/100km. the sum of what these 2 waste in a month (and I have tested this) is about 70% of what the prius wastes in the same period of time.

  • USA USA USA USA USA

  • it's not the factory that is polluting...it´s the process of witch the get the metall and then ship it around the world...you stupid prick

  • @Assassinate4u ohh how i couldnt imagine, and all the other cars around the world doesnt have the same process for them all 100% materials, right?!

  • @kyoshiroma the don't use the same metals soo no =)

Check out Top Gears video about the Prius and you'll get it =)

  • why is this toyota commercial so long

  • diesels stink, and they sound like a tractor!

    Who Diesel, is an idiot!

  • Toyota Prius is the size of a VW Passat! Consumption 5l/100Km! It's quiet, does not smell, like the TDI diesel and other!

    antidiesel.eu

  • i can bike 1.7 miles faster that you just did in that thing

  • Top Gear is still better

  • Euro 6 will ruin the bluemotion, diesels will be taxed on NOX particulates, so tax will be as high as petrol cars for Co2

  • wow 1.7 miles on electricity how the hell is that impressive?

  • Honestly, I'd still go for my Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel. It gets 25 mpg city, and on some inclines on the highway 60 mpg. If you're gonna try to contradict me, I'm gonna say it's not a straight six it's and eight cylinder.

  • @DatGuyWhoDidDatTing Any car on an incline will get more mpg. If your Dadge Ram will get 60 on an incline, I can safely say the Prius would get over 100 on that same incline.

  • @jubetily yes, but even so, what it takes to make the batteries that go into those Not-Cars causes more pollution than my truck over its entire lifetime.

  • id still rather have a disease

  • three letters C R X

  • Great review and dispels the myth that the Prius is not eco.

Negative propaganda has been put across out the Pirius by makers who who are way behind in technology.

A great milestone car. The Chevy Volt is the start of the next generation.

  • get a tesla!

  • im seeing an ad with toyota camry and justin bieber.

    this cant be good

  • whos this dingus?

  • Honda have been making a vehichle for some years now that can manage 340mpg. It's called the Honda Cub 50 :P

If you really want to save the planet get one of those and save yourself £20,000 and save the planet the hundred extra tonnes of co2 created in the manufacture of this overweight car.

  • @RequiemVortex The Prius weighs less than almost all other comparable models on the highway today... In addition, the Honda Cub is a bike. Not exactly convenient for most families in this society. If you honestly do care about the world, wouldn't it make more sense to post your reply in videos of vehicles who manage only 20-30 mpg, or less?

  • @jubetily

Actually the Prius weighs about 250kg more than say an equivilent Honda Civic. And the Honda Cub is more practicle because it's a bike. Given that the majority of car journeys are for two people or less a bike is all you need. And longer journeys with multiple passangers are better by train or coach.

Also I would argue that it is better to argue against false soloutions like a Prius, than cars which never state they are one.

  • @RequiemVortex "The majority of car journeys are for two people or less." Wherever you heard that statistic, I would like to know. The Prius is marketed as a family car with plenty of trunk space for luggage and groceries. The Honda Cub would not be practical at all for transporting luggage, groceries, a family, or even two people. It's a very small, one-seat bicycle. You're trying to compare apples and oranges here and say oranges are better. You might as well advise buying mountain bikes.

  • @jubetily

The statistics are from the Scottish government and the EEA. So as you see a two seated scooter is really all the motorised transport you need. It can also carry in excess of 100kg of luggage.

I'm not comparing oranges and apples. I'm comparing a simple and practical solution to the problem of global warming to the delusion that we'll still be able to use petrol powered cars if we just bolt an electric motor on them.

  • @RequiemVortexAdding electric motors on cars is the first step to putting all-electric motors in cars in the future. You don't simply start by fixing the problem of global warming with producing all-electric cars right off the bat.

This is a good way to gauge the amount of power needed to power electric cars, the right batteries needed, a way to spur competition and innovation in battery technology, and it's still better than all gas cars, period, unless they can get more mileage.

  • @RequiemVortex You can try selling two-seated scooters to the average family of 4 in this world. Why you think this is a practical solution for families who have to transport more than 1 person or even go shopping with others, I don't know. If scooters were a PRACTICAL solution to the growing problem of global warming, I guarantee you, 100%, car manufacturers would've gone that route long ago.

Again, as I said, if you're so adamant on this, post this on a vid with trucks or low-mileage cars.

  • @jubetily

Two seated scooters are already what the average family around the world uses. I gave the example of the Honda cub because it is the best selling motor vehichle in history. And you better hope it stays that way because the planet can't support anymore cars.

Let me put it this way. In the distant future VW hopes to produce a 330mpg car. The Cub managed that back in 1958. Hybrids will never be able to compete with their lighter competition.

  • @RequiemVortex What average family around the world uses two-seated scooters? Since when is the Honda Cub the best-selling motor vehicle in the world? It would be nice to take your word for it, but it's very easy to make any kind of claim whether it be fact or fiction.

China's society is much more industrialized than the U.S. or other western nations. It focuses more on working and less on family with their one-child law. They also live on 3% of the land in the country.

  • @jubetily

Also why would car manufacturers try to sell motorcycles, even if they were the practicle solution to global warming? Instead they sell SUVs, luxury cars and 424ci muscle cars.

Hybrids like the Prius that only use the electricity as a secondary means of propulsion aren't the future. In China the popularity of electric scooters has already demonstrated that electric vehicles can provide cheap and ethical transport without such flaws and compromise.

  • @RequiemVortex I'm sure in some parts of the world families love using the Honda Cub to get around and they can manage it, but it is not practical. There will be times when you need to drive more than one person, people will want to hang out with their friends, or take their family to the airport.

Not all countries are the same, and when you learn that, then you can think of practical solutions. For now, you can think what you want, but your ideas cannot and do not work for everyone. Bye.

  • @jubetily

The Honda Cub is the greatest selling motor vehicle of all time because they've sold over 40,000,000 twice the amount of VW beetles sold.

You argue that there are occasions were car ownsership is useful but these only account less than 20% of all journeys . Why not use public transport for these journeys? This is the practical solution and it is the way of life for most families around the globe. If Global Warming won't change your mind, fuel and congestion will.

  • I'd rather have an A3 TDI

  • um what about the lithium

  • ANY source of energy creates a by-product somebody won't find politically correct.

It's fucking NATURAL - that how physics works!

You eat food, your body creates energy, which produces heat , CO2, piss and shit. NO FREE ENERGY! Live with that!!!!

  • hybrid cars, trucks, and suv's are too complex and therefore not as efficient as they could be. instead of the electric motor and gas motor working together, they should strictly be electric and use a diesel generator to power the motor and charge the batteries then you could easily average 100-150mpg

  • @6speedm

The Chevy Volt does that using a poor off-the-shelf petrol engine. Lotus have developed a dedicated 3 cyl, 1200cc, small, light genny engine for hybrids. Is being set up for manufacturing.

  • id still rather have a golf diesel

  • @carrionpvp ITS NOT GOLF AND NOT DIESEL TRACTOR

  • @happer2009 not sure what ur trying to say, all i can gather is that ur kinda soft in the head

  • i think it looks better then the 2nd gen on. but at the end of the day, im so happy my dad got an Audi A4 convertible instead of a 3rd gen Prius

  • Volkswagen's bluemotion, Skoda's Greenline >> Prius

  • You can drive 1,7 miles on battery but it will take you 3x more time than usual - answers the question on start "is it clever or useless"

  • If the Prius runs on electricity, that battery will have to be charged again. That's done by your alternator which is powerd by.... your engine which in turn will need more fuel to move the car because of the alternator.

beter mpgs my ass.on average it uses 1 liter per 25,6 km which a turbo diesel will beat. Its HOW you drive that matters!

  • @EliteGhost001 But diesel gives off a pollutant that kills humans, many want it outlawed on all but commercial vehicles. Even then they are demanding all commercial vehicles are hybrids.

  • @AndrewParkerTV

"diesel gives off a pollutant that kills humans"

EVERY fuel does. Diesel no more because it MIGHT be more toxic but its more efficient so the amount of harmfull particles per km don't differ that much.

"They emit huge amounts of pollutants that kill thousands"

LMAO! How can you prove that? People die every day due to illness, accidents, murder or age. Amount people actualy killed by exhaust gasses can't accurately be calculated because it those people could already been sick

  • @EliteGhost001 Diesel has been proven to kill, it seems everyone in the world but you knows this. Governments release information from studies on a regular basis. Diesel gives noxious pollution that petrol doesn't. As for co2, it's the way the Prius is built and the fact almost all can be recycled that is environmentally friendly. 95% of the batteries can also be recycled. Hydrogen isn't the future, to get it from water uses too much energy, the other way is from gas so not viable.

  • @EliteGhost001 See this for an idea of how bad Diesel is as a fuel, Google "clean air cleaning diesel pollution" and click on the "environment massachusetts" website link. Everyone knows diesel is a dirty fuel and one proven to kill or damage the life of masses of men, women and children. See government and independent studies from all over the world, you don't need to take my word for it.

  • @AndrewParkerTV

Every fuel is dirty which is a problem they can't fix. Diesel is less refined but more efficient. Now if you say diesel actualy kills people I'd like to see your source.

The picture I see in your link btw is from an old truck, ofcourse that smokes when it accelerates. Todays diesels are much cleaner. If a diesel has a propper filter, it reduces toxic elements by 90%. With old diesels thats 30%. The sollution there is get NEW diesel engines, those from after 2001 are often good.

  • @EliteGhost001

"Now if you say diesel actualy kills people I'd like to see your source."

Diesel emits soot, which blackens buildings and causes stone rot, and is carcegenic. Should be banned in cars.

  • @NearAbbeyRoad

Thats called having a filter. All diesel cars in the EU need one and they have one as standard equipment since 2000.

  • @EliteGhost001

Diesel filters are 100% reliable..and more crap around the engine like expensive turbos.

  • @NearAbbeyRoad

lol, are or aren't? Filters stop over 90% of the toxic stuff and turbo's improve fuel efficiency still some point. Unless you've got a racecar which is about performance, the turbo is there to improve efficiency.

Sorry but a diesel is cleaner then that Prius. The idea of the Prius is nice put its completely wrong.

  • @EliteGhost001

90% when operating properly. That is well over 10% of emissions are carcegenic - toomuch.

    Filter is more complexity.

The turbo is expensive and "expensive" to replace. More complexity. It needs it match a petrol engine.

A diesel is NOT cleaner then that Prius. You should do some reading instead of guessing.

The Prius is now old hat as the Chevy Volt is the leader in hybrids.

Jaguar are to have a turbine turning a genny as a range extender - elec drive - in a sports car

  • @NearAbbeyRoad

I need to do some ready? You should get yourself updated on diesels. When heavy machines like trucks and tanks would use petrol, they would use far more liters per km and thus have an even worse effect. If filters don't work properly they'll be fixed ASAP since cars need to be checked every so many years/months.

Yes in a town the Prius will be cleaner because of its electric motor. But the average driver pulls away so fast that the petrol engine kicks in so it doesn't matter.

  • @EliteGhost001

"You should get yourself updated on diesels."

I am 100% up and they are waste of expensive, complex, polluting time.

  • @NearAbbeyRoad

    You're contradict yourself now.

  • @EliteGhost001

    you*

  • @EliteGhost001

    "You're contradict yourself now."

    In your twisted mind.

  • @NearAbbeyRoad

oh yes, sick and twisted. Won't deny it :D

Hey I didn't made the statistics, I just use them to try and convince people who think the Prius is so great that diesel seriously is better.

  • @NearAbbeyRoad

Further more, the average effect of a Prius is completely ruined by its milage at highway speeds when going over 80 km/h. Making the overal effect worse then a diesel. End of story.

  • @AndrewParkerTV

The USA is a car country and by far most of the cars are petrol powered, not diesel. Even in the Netherlands, where diesel is becomming more and more popular becuase of its lower price (but higher taxasion of the car itself) is only at about 18%.

All those numbers they mention there are no doupt not much worse then any other polluted place. Fact remains that they don't have a source which proves that those deaths have actualy been caused by diesel engines. so its bollocks to me.

  • @AndrewParkerTV

And how does getting a hybrid car make it better? they use more fuel to charge their damn batteries and their production is much more pollutant. And I don't mean in CO2.

Since when is CO2 the problem anyway? plants need it to live and the main greenhouse gas is water by about 75%.

The only problem is what do we do when we run out of oil? massive hydrogen plants and hydrogen cars? There does the temperature.

  • most diesel cars get better mpg than the stupid prius, the diesel Jaguar XJ gets 50 mpg and its a land yacht; plus when you drive your prius faster than 70mph there is a severe drop in fuel economy due to the priuses lack of power and CVT transmission. at 75+mph a Mustang with the 4.6 V8 gets better mpg than the prius and its a V8 not a worthless 1.8 4cyl with a environmentally hazardous nickel battery. the prius is a couple hundred steps backwards in the automotive world

  • @6speedm Diesel is an unrefined fuel, it puts out poisons that kill humans on a large scale. Thousands die in London, UK each year and much of it is down to diesel engines. Petrol doesn't put the same pollutant out. There are calls to ban diesel in anything that isn't a commercial vehicle and make all commercial vehicles hybrids. Oh and the speed limit is 70mph, so what has anything above got to with economy? For the record, the unaerodynamic Mustang is not better on fuel i've seen reviews.

  • @AndrewParkerTV diesel is unrefined because it doesnt need refining and its its a byproduct of making gas. its gas is far more polluting since it has to go through many refining processes. on US interstates your allowed to go 70-80 depending on the state, which is out of the priuses economy range. my brothers stock 04 mustang w/5spd gets 28mpg at 70 and 24.5 at 80; one of my former coworkers 2010 prius got 27mpg at 75 and 23mpg at 80.

  • @6speedm

You missed it. The Prius in average mpg is superb. Picking up on highway driving is pointless unless you drive from town to town all day.

  • @NearAbbeyRoad

The Prius average milage is 17.(something). No better then a diesel. and a diesel doesn't have batteries that are useless after 4 or 5 years.

  • gay

  • Lmao... the whole point of Prius is about environmental improvement yet this crappy show is comparing to a friction diesel.... Do you even know how diesel work and how harmful they are?

  • @EpicHotCheese did you not hear them? It gets better mpgs and produces less emissions.

  • @EpicHotCheese Diesels are some of the most fuel efficient engines out there, and they can run on vegetable oil.

  • @Saracen180 Diesel engines are the dirtiest engines too. They emit huge amounts of pollutants that kill thousands in cities each year. Much worse than petrol even.

  • @ErisTheVorta you should've gotten a chevy volt. it does a lot better

and it actually looks ggod in a sort of "turns heads" sort of way

  • the 2010-present Toyota Prius is assembled in

    Tsutsumi, Japan

    Chachoengsao, Thailand (December 2010-present)

    Changchun, Jilin, China (Chinese Market)

  • @bluedick. There is no lead or cadmium in a prius battery. Concerns over battery chemistry are totally unfounded fir the prius and are just fud put out by uninformed skeptics.

  • oh btw awfull review, thats why they will never be like top gear , and boring as hell

  • bs review, it makes no sence to buy this kind of car even if it is more clean, because others can still drive big engines and so it makes no difference to the enviroment if a few people drive a prius... this is a car for cheap people or people that wanna feel like they are doing somethig good for the enviroment, but it doesnt change anything, you can all buy prius cars , im still gonna enjoy my big engined bmw. and i will have tons of fun and feel better driving my car.

  • its been proven that hybrid cars are a step backwards in the automotive world, there not terribly efficient, there not very reliable and can be expensive to repair, also the batteries are not very eco friendly

  • My 2000 Honda Insight with 5speed Manual Transmission averages 70 miles per gallon, I payed 2900 for the car with 300,000 miles on it, I've put 22,000 miles on the car in 9 months and the only thing I add was a Grid Charger/battery balancer. Though I must say- The soon to be released-2012 "Plug In Prius" is a big step forward for Toyota.

  • If I wanted something economical, I'd find something diesel.

  • The Prius looks like a iron? I like the sleek, almost feather/leaf shaped design and uniqueness, I don't really want a car that looks like every other car ever, and I wouldn't have the money for a sports car. I guess its because I'm a really art-sy female, but I think it's nice...plus, I wouldn't have to spend much on gas.

  • If i ever bought a hybrid I'd want it to look like a normal car. There is nothing worse than greenies. Especially when they are trying to show how green they are. They normally drive pathetically, have "baby on board" Stickers and whinge at you about how pathetic you are for driving a normal car!! I loathe the prius, it'd be alot better if it just looked like a corolla or something normal. But then again I'm a mitsi person, so I hate toyota anyway XD.

  • I'll stick to fossil fuels, CO2 is better than Pb or Cd for the environment.

  • BUMPER STICKER ; Don't drive to close, the car in front might be a toyota pious. [ ie driven at exactly 30mph , likely to stop for no apparent reason and atleast one light not working! ].

  • Thumbs up if you have one.

  • My Mustang just wasted all the gas your prius saved.

  • They should make the batteries bigger and add solar so you can drive it to work, park it in the sun and come back again.

  • what a bullshit car and review. highly efficient and higher mileage cars are the way to go, like the jetta tdi.. wish they allowed diesel road cars here in singapore, would definitely get one.

  • Still rather have a Jetta tdi

  • Comment removed

  • WHAT the hell does sand in a scale with a model car has to do with calling this car environmentally friendly? Is there a ratio I dont know about between the amound of sand and the ammount of environmental damage? This is like saying the turtle is faster than the horse so the tree can eat the clouds. Plus its the lithium mines that cause the most dammage and the transportation of parts around the world. Buying a prius is not about saving the planet, its about finding oneself better than the rest

  • What a piece of nigger loving liberal shit!

  • @68Barracuda11s Fuck me! Are all you yanks racist biggots or what?

  • @68Barracuda11s Go back to your KKK rallies.

  • one day if i come into a large sum of money im going to have a prius crushing party

  • Toyota Prius: drive it like you have a vagina.

  • @ErisTheVorta you just admitted that you are a ecomentalist LOL,you may have a hummer in your garage :D just to annoy greenpeace

  • @AlbanianGamers the just get a camaro,or a gt390 same price for a good one,and you look cool driving

  • whats funny about the prius is that if you drive faster than 70mph it does not have the power to get decent mileage, a former coworker had a 2010 prius and at 70mph it got 43mpg, at 75 it got 34mpg and at 80 it only got 26 mpg

  • we should nuke japan again for making horrible cars

  • man Fix your hair before doing a review

  • what the fuck was that with the scale?? and why are 1.7miles of range impressive? i can't believe that people are actually buying this car

  • prius=shitty

volkswagen deisl= an awsome car with lower operating costs

  • @masterbawth lower costs , but what about acceleration?..

  • Biodiesel > Prius

  • if you car so much about the environment just ride a bike for 1.7 miles instead

  • Belive me these prius's are dog shit they are shit on fuel and very exspensive to buy and service they only do about 46mpg i no a few people who have had them. Buy a diesel they are better in every way.

  • these people are morons, they have not full looked into how a prius is made, even if it is made in a green factory it still takes 113,000,000 BTU's to produce 1 prius; so buy the time you drive you prius of the dealer lot it has theoretically consumed 1,000 gallons of petrol. plus to make it worse the batteries only have a 100,000 mile life span and are costly to replace. if you want to be green buy a diesel car, they have a lower cost of ownership and get much better mpg.

  • electric cars are actually less ECO-friendly. where do we get our electricity? by burning coal. what are car batteries made out of? Lead/Lithium and acid. lithium must be refined via blast furnace which eats up entire trees at a time. then a shit ton of Co2/sulfur comes out of the ore when burned/melted. and then car batteries must be replaced/disposed of every few years. a British study was done and the freakin Land Rover was proven to be more ECO-friendly than a Prius in the long term. LOL

  • 10.4 is in no way a respectable time

  • i like how his tests arent actually tests

  • I COULDENT AFFORD A PRIUS SO I WENT EVEN MORE GREEN AND STARTED CYCLING TO WORK.

  • Stop twitching your leg boy.

  • Ewww Toyota Prius..

  • people don't undersoot you r carring power source with you when even in remote place you can supply enough storage power from your car to run small electric heater or lamp outlet or even little cooker for camp site if battery run out start you engine and top it up later.

  • The idea that people are buying this car for some sort of eco-cred is ridiculous. These guys are jerks.

  • @mss627

The cars are "quiet" and cheap to run. Some people do buy for eco, maybe not you.

  • I recently test drove a Toyota Prius Hybrid. Although I was only able to test drive it for a few miles, my conception of the Prius is that it's a fuel efficient car. Those who own the car can speak more about it for they drive it daily. Good car in my opinion.

  • production process of bateries produce more polution than the petrol engine in it so hybrids have no sense

  • This is a shocking review. Didn't mention the nickel mining or the refinement process, was happy with just 1.7 miles on the battery and calls it a good car to drive. This is why milliones watch topgear and about 80 or 90 people watch this garbage!

  • @chrismarkbicknell

"Didn't mention the nickel mining or the refinement process, "

Great veviw, as most is recyclable. Also the batteries are cleanly made and recycled.

  • @NearAbbeyRoad Cleanly made??? Do you have any idea how much enviromental damage is done by nickel mining? I suggest you look it up. The nickel mining, transportation, refinement and production of the nickel and the batteries mean that the prius does more enviromental then a range rover sport over the course of it's life. Don't believe everything Toyota tell you. Also, it's not even that economical. I have a 1.8 diesel that will do 63 mpg. Hardly wasteful is it? The prius is awful. The End

  • @chrismarkbicknell

Batteries are changing to Lithium. Ni-Cad are now old hat. Currently billions of "lead"-acid batteries are in use.

"Also, it's not even that economical. I have a 1.8 diesel that will do 63 mpg. Hardly wasteful is it? The prius is awful. The End"

Diesels pollute in noise and emit carcinogenic - soot. They blacken buildings and lungs. The new Prius does near 70mpg. The Chevy Volt does 45-50 miles on battery alone, to be the Vaux' Ampera on sale here next year.

Are you a member of the Flat Earth Society as well?

  • @NearAbbeyRoad What on earth is the Flat Earth Society? Also, yes I drive a diesel. So what? I do my bit on a day to day basis. Recycle what I can? Used public transport up until I was 24 etc etc. I will drive what I damn well like and no vegetarian, Bill Oddie worshipper is going to make me feel bad about it.

"What on earth is the Flat Earth Society? "

Do not be shy. You must be a member!

  • 1.7 miles on elc. power. omg your going to save the world now .

electrically powered golf carts do better .

  • so does it come with a dental dam

  • the construction of this car produces much more enviromental damage than a prius will save!! watch the top gear episode to find out the truth this guy is full of shit!!

  • @jimakosgian26

"watch the top gear episode to find out the truth"

Idiot Clarkson? You are having a laugh. Brummm, brummmm, must go fast, fast, fast.

  • He also forgot to mention that the refining process of those batteries is a very dirty buisness.

    Back to Top Gear

  • What if the speed limit is 40mph? Then it's useless, u'll be using petrol.

  • is a vigina on weel, Ilike

  • my 1.9 diesel VW gol kicks prius ass anytime

  • @panchociarer

    good choice :)

  • @panchociarer Thank you as well.

  • Jetta TDI, 50mpg, clean diesel, turbo, torque

  • @renefern Thank you.

  • He forgot to mention that the prius drives like a damn golf cart.

  • he forgot to mention that Toyota has the nickel for the batteries mined in Canada, which is one of if not must environmental damaging industry today. Than the have to fly(By most likely a 747 Cargo plane or diesel powered ship) the nickel to Europe(Germany or France I forgot which)to be made into the batteries, finally shipped off(Again by plane)to Japan where they can make the cars(Only to be shipped back to Europe and North America)where they are put on Lorry's(Again using polluting diesel)

  • soo.. ugly...

  • 1.7 miles? That's just pathetic.

  • Taxis here are Prius!

  • The Japan factory might be clean. But what about the nickel mining in Canada, or the nickel refinement in europe? And the manucatoring in China? Is that clean? The battery is not only made in Japan. And all the battery parts are also shipped from Canada, to europe, to china, to japan.. That's not co2 friendly either...
