  • Do you make these while you're high?

  • Fire Fox! :)

  • c gnial

  • So this is how night and day come? My parents have been lying to me too much.

  • Super.

  • That tiny man must not be as tiny as it seem, considering the wolf is gigantic comparing to the village he destroyed.

  • I dunno why, but the style feels like Japanese anime when people do hand to hand combat. Nicely done.

  • I've been replaying this one so much over the past couple of days. The movement are so fluid and little details so intricate. It's just spectacular.

  • Whos the green plant like man?

  • inspire me to make a short animation :D wish me well :))

  • it kind of reminds me of an east european myth (bulgarian i think) about a wolf eating the sun.

  • @existtraiesc This is based off of Nordic mythology, I think. I think so (and I'm just going off of memory, I'm not even Nordic) because 'Fenrir' was a wolf beast of sorts, and his two sons aimed to catch the moon and son (and eventually do in some huge event called Ragnarök). But I don't know why Fenrir himself ate the sun, because Sköll (one of his sons) was the one who chased it.

  • @xxxanimepopxxx Your right about all this. I was about to say the same thing. Fenrir didn't eat the sun, Skoll did.. But aside from that the animation was amazing.

  • this is so awesome, I've watched like 15 of these videos already, its like crack coacine, I can't stop!

  • Cool!

  • oh and another thing that happens in Ragnarok is that Valhalla burns down and they say that the when the snake that bit its tail around the huge tree lets go Ragnarok begins

  • Norse mythology really does provide a lot of room for creative license.

  • YAY my favourite wolf

  • superbe!

  • wish there was more action but still veryyy cool

  • IS THAT WAS MUTALISK FROM STARCRAFT???

  • OH MY GOD. Oh man, if these guys made a movie, it would be the most fantastic, epic movie ever. All these shorts are just too amazing.

  • 00:15 Zerg Mutalisk sound from Starcraft

  • Lindo!

  • how the!? how dos this guy make so flawless animation?! it must take years of practis and work to master such a artistic hand!

  • Here's what the description says:

Asleep for centuries between the roots of the tree Yggdrasil, the wolf Fenrir is awakened by the sun. Enraged, he frees himself from his bonds and climbs the tree. Having reached the summit, he attacks the sun, without realizing that behind him, a hero appears.

They look like epic pokemon btw.

  • Fucking. AMAZING!!!!

  • For some reason he reminds me of Quetzalcoatl....

    Totally unrealated to Ragnarok but...

  • MY EYES JUST CAME

  • Falcon PUUUUNCH!!!!!

  • wow just wow great job

  • Wonderful!

  • The other character is definitely Vidarr, son of Odin, god of vengeance and forests. After Fenrir swallows Odin, Vidarr will stomp with his boot the lower jaw of the wolf, grab the upper half with his hand and tear open the wolf's mouth, killing it in the process. If you look closely, you can even briefly see Vidarr's foot in the mouth of the wolf in the video.

  • @azathunderwaffle does fenrir swallow odin to get revenge for binding him in chains???

  • yes apparently he' is loki's son you probably knew that but i know alot about Norse mythology cuz my brother believes in it

  • Sun-eating Skalli and moon-eating Hati are inventions of Snorri Sturluson, the man who wrote one of the Eddas. It is probably due to his urge to categorize and organize the mythology that he split up the role of one wolf to three. Older versions of the story do indeed tell Hati and Skalli and Fenrir are one and the same (as well as Snorri's Garmr, yet another apocalyptical canine).

  • is that what a raocow looks like

  • Thanks for this Raocow!

  • Fenrir never attempts to eat the sun...he's the father of Hati and Scoll. Hati, with the purpose of eating the moon, and Scoll, the sun. Learned this from school, runescape, and Wikipedia so stfu ppl XD.

  • Its scoll who tries to eat the sun, from Norse legends. Hati tries to eat the moon.

  • I love learning about Norse and Greek mythology! The Fenrir story is one of my favorite stories.

  • Wered you get this fro? This is amazing!

  • Whats this from? This is amazing?

  • that part when he opend the mouth soundded painful

  • UNTIL RAGNAROK!

  • I love your animations :D

  • I have always loved this particular work. Now that I'm going to work on my final project for the animation course, I need loads of inspirations. This one is the top on my list. Gotta love it because of the animation, art direction and the mythology approached. Unique.

  • Your animation is so amazing!

  • Like these guys need to get on cartoon network! or something

  • @kylee8767 No, please. CN is filled with shit; if they go to CN their work would be unappreciated or mixed with all that crap. Better looking for somewhere else where to show their animations.

  • this is CLASS !!!

  • Norse mythology > 2000 years old carpenter tales

  • FLOWER PUNCH!!!!

  • @TheGirlWithThePaints they probably used a program like ToonBoom Harmony. It's one of the biggest programs in the industry at the moment.

  • on sent l'inspi niponne

  • I heard somewhere that Fenrir was one of the sons of Loki not sure if it's true though

    Great animation

  • @Blitzscreamer Yes, Loki got four children that I know of.

Hel or Hela: The queen* (*Kind of) of the dead

Jörmungandr (Or as he would be called if his name was translated directly, the midgard snake): the giant serpent that is stretched out across the whole world, and biting its own tail.

Fenrir or The Fenris Wolf: the huge wolf that could only be chained by gleipnir, and to chain it, Tyr, - the brother of Thor - still had to let the wolf eat his hand.

    And Sleipnir: Odens 8-legged steed.

  • @runekiri thanks, i'm all into the norse mythology now so yea

it's funny that he ended up with kids like that are all dangerous and freaky kinda

  • the aother character is Víðarr

  • cooooool!!!!!!

  • This had an interesting art style and I agree with Kismet137.

The combat did seem a lot like Fooley Cooley.

  • That reminded me of FLCL for some reason. The animation was really cool.

  • beautiful, why is it that the best things in life are the shortest?

  • @jinnXd85 cause when it cuts short, you want to know more

  • @jinnXd85 because sadly, nothing lasts forever...

  • @jinnXd85 That's what she said

  • @jinnXd85 It would take a long time to do animations that are 10 mins or something.

  • I'm quiet confused with the fenrir eating sun...wasn't it was the other wolf doing that?

Oh oh!! Is that little guy fighting him was Vidar (Odin's strongest son next to Thor)? That's probably the most interesting and the best version of Vidar I'd ever seen! I mean he's a king of a forest that's true...

  • @flickersowner yes it was skoll the sun chaser and haki the moon chaser...i think this is skoll..fenrir is full dark black...the myth says that when fenrir gets loose from gleipnir(the rope),then this will the day that skoll and haki will caught and eat the sun and the moon...it will be the day of Ragnarok..the Doomsday...i still think this is Skoll...

  • @koulis0985: Thank you! But what about the little guy? Is that Vidar? (i'm excited if it is him)

  • @flickersowner in one of Gylfaginning chapters during Ragnarok,Fenrir wil devour Odin and Vidar will avenge him by stepping down with one foot on the lower jaw of the monster, grabbing his upper jaw in one hand and tearing his mouth apart, killing him and saving the wold and remake it....like the video..also Vidar is a silent god..as it shows so probably he will be...the wolf maybe comfused with Skoll...also at 0:08 there are "roots" not rope or chain....

  • @koulis0985: I think they're not completely mistaken. They're probably try to tell the story metaphorically. Odin was symbolized as a sun, since sometimes he was the god of summer, or life source. Vidar was more to a spirit of a forest, he also as the god of silence...I see the character was drawn without mouth. As the rope, I think they're more in touch with nature like, this Fenrir was tied with roots. Anyho, thanks for the info, it's been awesome :D

  • This should be the design of the next pokemon.

  • @ErichoTTA

    ignorance is bliss....

  • Guaaoo O_O this animation is incomparable

  • AWESOME!

  • wow this is absolutely wonderfull, love the animation. though its a pity youve accidentaly used the names wrong, its Fenrirs son Skoll (sköll) that chases the sun, not Fenrir himself. and Hate that chases the moon.

  • Wow... so very fluid in motion. I love their designs and the epic little battle.

  • Awesome! :D

  • Este es el que más me gusta

  • the dirty monkey affairs? 0.o

  • Is this based of a mythology?

  • yes, norse mythology... this wolf is actually Sköll, son of Fenrir (though Fenrir is some times used to refer to Fenrir himself and both his sons)... he eats the sun during Ragnarok.

who the other character is, i am not sure.

  • the other son of Fenrir is Hati the one who chase the moon

  • supplementing what gwilendiel said one moth ago XD

  • @gwilendiel after ragnarök the end of the gods, after Fenrir has devoured odin, Víðarr hinn sterki (Vidarr the strong) one of the sons of odin, will avenge his fathers death, no one but him can stand up to Fenrir. so i take it that must be Vidarr at the end. but fenrir has no children, hes the bastard child of loki, and loki has many other bastards, including the ones that devour sun and day

  • @gwilendiel well the sprite seemed pretty powerful...perhaps an incarnation of yggdrasil?

  • @gwilendiel Late reply: You seem like someone who knows what he's talking about. Uhm.. What's Ragnarok? (A Japanese computer game, I know, but serious question now.)

  • @GaolisVideoLog In Norse mythology, Ragnarök (Old Norse "final destiny of the gods") is a series of future events, including a great battle foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Týr, Freyr, Heimdall, and Loki), the occurrence of various natural disasters, and the subsequent submersion of the world in water.

It's also the name of a Black metal band.

  • @gwilendiel My bet would be the other character represents Odin's son Vidar, who was foretold to avenge his father's death slaying Fenrir who was foretold to have killed Odin during the events of Ragnorak. Granted it was actually Skoll who swallowed the sun, perhaps the artist chose to simplify things in this short animation by combining the roles Fenrir/Skoll roles. There do exist several popular (albeit inaccurate) interpretations where it was actually Fenrir who swallowed the Sun/Moon.

  • @gwilendiel Maybe Oden? Im not sure but the current shirt I am wearing has Oden fighting the Fenrir(It's Amon Amarth's shirt for 'A Beast I Am' from their C.D. Surtur Rising)

  • @gwilendiel I guess it's just based on nordic mythology, since this wasn't ragnarok, but a day and night cycle. Sköll was also supposed to be so tall that he could reach the sun standing on the ground

  • @gwilendiel I'd think it's the personification of Yggdrasil

  • @gwilendiel Ragnarok is a game.

  • @gwilendiel Gaia?

  • @LionTroy Gaia is from Greek mythology, although I can see where you were confused.

  • @gwilendiel They are: Fenrir, the mithology wolf, and then his two sons: Hati and Sköll. Hati searched for the moon, while Sköll searched for the sun. And in Ragnarok, they both completed their goals. Or something like that hehe:B

  • Awesome stuff
