  • Great information thanks so much for posting. Be Safe and Be Blessed.

  • Yea but what about after the pole shift?

  • @gregriv69 Hmmmm, Yes, the pole did shift but, it did not shift enough to cause concern for general bearings.

  • Thanks alot for sharing this information

  • Very good. I was just thinking earlier to ask you, if you could possibly do some videos on navigating, with or without a compass. When and if you have time, that is. Thanks!

  • @4micaman Thanks for your input. I do have a couple vids out on this topic but, I have more to cover. My latest is "Disoriented in the bush" which gives a tip or two on getting out of a lost situation. Good sugestion.

  • How long do you wait to make the second mark ????

  • It depends on the position of the sun in the sky but, 10 or 15 minutes will give a distinct line to follow.

  • Thanks for your help Ghost .

  • That is one of the best explanations I've ever seen.

    Awesome!

Thanks...that could easily save someone someday...if it hasn't already!

    Great vid, great job.

    5/5 *****

  • Thanks

  • wow i didnt know that thanks kamo

  • Excellent tutorial, straightforward technique, very useful, thank you for making the video Kamo.

  • I have a few questions, if it was getting late in the day and only a few hours before dark, will this still work and will I get a reading of North using this method? Or does this only work earlier in the day?

When is the best time to use this method? and how accurate is it?

  • As long as you have about twenty minutes of strong enough sunlight to cast a shadow, it will work fine and be accurate. The best time is between 10am and 4pm. Earlier and later will cause the shadow to be long. Always use the tip of the shadow, it will always move in a way to create a West to East line even though the movement of the shadow as a whole will appear to change in relation to the stick. By placing your left foot on West and your right foot on East you will always be facing North.

  • Simple and good demo!

  • Thanks, I really like this way of finding north because of the simplicity. I geuss I'm a simple Person. Some would take that as an insult but, not me. I'm simple. LOL
