I seriously think that more people should actually read the bible, if indeed many believers have properly! I have only recently read the book in full. I find it very difficult to accept in my head that so many billions of people base their lives upon it. It is a repulsive book in every sense, some of it actually quite comical in its absurdity. For that person to claim her prayers are answered has in my view a mental problem, its a disgusting claim to make on this thread.
You are setting up an impossible task, and you are fully aware of that. Prayer is a personal phenomenon, and third party prayers, especially for some miracle, do not work. That doesn't mean that God doesn't exist or that the promises of Christianity are empty.
Its interesting you use the word "impossible", because that's exactly how I would describe many of the events of the bible, spirits, the christian version of god, and the concept of prayer in general- all impossible. Could you name a task that would be possible for prayer, apart from the psychological effect it has on the user? Also please explain why this version of prayer so disagrees with the one presented in the bible.

Children were extremely important to tribes back then because they created the backbone to the family and the supporting of work, protection, and business.

That is a great point. The amount of money that goes in the church's pocket is no small sum! I had a cat a wonderful cat. I found him as a starved kitty and had the pleasure of raising him into a beautiful cat. He was everything a cat should be. He then developed a lump which we had removed and soon returned. I watched the cancer slowly eat my cat while having myself and my family spend money that they didn't have on his painkillers. I prayed and told god that I would do anything for him if he saved this cat. I would worship him and spread his word. My cat died a few weeks later.

God requires you to plant a seed in order to make you prosper or answer your prayers. The "seed", is money you send to the television preacher. The more you send, the more you show how much you love God. God will see and answer your prayer. Maybe if you had sent money, your cat would have been healed.

The fact is, the bible tells us that our prayers will be answered, no conditions like; "if god wills it," and the usual cop outs Xians like to use to explain why prayers aren't answered. The fact is, and I've done research & have had many years of personal experience with prayer failing, prayers don't work. Yet people lie to themselves bcuz they are in denial.

I still mourn the cat as silly as it seems and while I hope he is in a better place I do not see anything to support this whatsoever and that brings a true sadness to me.

Dmaj, as I document in my video on Bible--Prayer, Jesus reportedly promised unconditionally that his God would fulfill any prayers--an extravagantly false promise that his God could not possibly fulfill. This unconditional promise reportedly offered by Jesus is a standing invitation to 'test God'. We all know what will happen if any of us prays that even this one little deaf-blind girl will get immediate sight and hearing. Nothing will happen.

If prayer actually worked, I'm sure we'd see factual evidence, which I just demonstrated doesn't happen. I've seen, and been involved in, many attempts at intercessory prayer. Not once did I see any of them answered. And all the claims aren't verified. Isn't that rather suspicious?

I just finished a book that sucked. But, it had 3 pages filled with the name of gods people no longer believe in. Faith was lost. If you pray for something that has a liklihood of 50% probability, its occurrence will be no more frequent than a coin toss landing on heads. You might notice that praying for some things never works, such as asking god to grow back a wounded soldiers amputated leg. Because human beings have no regenerative limb powers this will never happen.

Not one amputee has ever been healed via prayer. I was in the hosp. with a lot of other amputees in Nam. I never saw any miracles or healings. I'd expect to see some prayers answered.

I spent 50 years looking. From the youngest years of my life, to just several years ago, I have had the opportunity to study the subject of prayer, and if god heals via prayer. The answer is no!
Besides my personal observations, along with following others who prayed for such healings, I can say that god does not answer prayer. Whether he's just always out playing golf, ot is just not existent (the latter is ny bet), prayer does not get answered!!

Jesus did many miracles of healing that are in the bible and others that are not written. John 21:25. Jesus also commanded his disciples to go out and heal the sick and they did. Jesus' disciples still are doing miracles and healing today, go to Bethel church in Redding, California and see for yourself, and get healing if you need any.
I have every single verse pertaining to every comment jesus made about demons, and the desciples stating different healings he & they did where demons, like deaf demons, out of people & then they could hear.

I don't say anything I can't back up. I had about 16 verses, all of them pertained to JC healing, and in the majority of them, demon possession was involved. I think there are 2 verses where he specifically refers to a particular illness as deaf demon, and blinness demons. When he removed them, the person was healed of that demon's affliction!! I'm going to get and post those verses now, if I have to go theu every bible version I have, which is about 30.
God sent His Son to the world to die and live again so that all who believe in Him would live with Him, not by works but by faith in what Jesus has done. It's really sad that over that long a time you seemed to not get answered prayers, but God's children are the one's who get access to God's blessing. This is very important for you to understand. You can know about something without taking it to heart or without believing in your heart. If you believe that God's Son's death and resurrection made you right with God then you will be saved.
I'd love to have a nickel for every Xian who claimed that 1. LOLs!! But U have no choice, do U? If U admitted that I had, and then discovered a reason 4 rejecting your god, evil god, that is, then U woudl have to admit that I may know something U don't. Jesus made salvation so easy. But it's hard for people to understand, that's why the bible says that you have to be like a child to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It's so easy to understand that it's actually easier for a child to understand than an adult who is so puffed up with knowledge. Salvation is too easy to pass by, and it is too great to pass by, and this is your life that we are talking about. Look at your body and realize that this is your life and that you have to make your own choice.

This is a dilemma in logic. He god knows everythiing B 4 it happens, and his knowledge is as perfect as he's supposed to be. If this is so, then we cannot have free will bcuz he's pre-knowledge prohibits us from exercising our free will. We'd be locked into his pre- knowledge.

Me and Ed see that subject a bit differently. I have no problem understanding evil that exists in the world. If I was god, I'd create mam, then leave it up to him 2 solve his own problems. I seriously think that more people should actually read the bible, if indeed many believers have properly! I have only recently read the book in full. I find it very difficult to accept in my head that so many billions of people base their lives upon it. It is a repulsive book in every sense, some of it actually quite comical in its absurdity. For that person to claim her prayers are answered has in my view a mental problem, its a disgusting claim to make on this thread.

You are setting up an impossible task, and you are fully aware of that. Prayer is a personal phenomenon, and third party prayers, especially for some miracle, do not work. That doesn't mean that God doesn't exist or that the promises of Christianity are empty.

Its interesting you use the word "impossible", because that's exactly how I would describe many of the events of the bible, spirits, the christian version of god, and the concept of prayer in general- all impossible. Could you name a task that would be possible for prayer, apart from the psychological effect it has on the user? Also please explain why this version of prayer so disagrees with the one presented in the bible.

Praise the lord indeed I particularly like the story of Lot, where his daughters fearing he may never have a son or perhaps they may never have kids, get him drunk on two separate occasions, have sex with their dad and bear him children. That of course is why god saved Lot from Sodom, it's a holy thing to fuck your daughters

Children were extremely important to tribes back then because they created the backbone to the family and the supporting of work, protection, and business.

I have no doubt that if all of that money could have been pooled & used in Cancer research, we'd have a cure by now! But where does it go? I had a cat a wonderful cat. I found him as a starved kitty and had the pleasure of raising him into a beautiful cat. He was everything a cat should be. He then developed a lump which we had removed and soon returned. I watched the cancer slowly eat my cat while having myself and my family spend money that they didn't have on his painkillers. I prayed and told god that I would do anything for him if he saved this cat. I would worship him and spread his word. My cat died a few weeks later.

God requires you to plant a seed in order to make you prosper or answer your prayers. The "seed", is money you send to the television preacher. The more you send, the more you show how much you love God. God will see and answer your prayer. Maybe if you had sent money, your cat would have been healed.

I'm a cat lover so I know exactly how you feel.
The fact is, the bible tells us that our prayers will be answered, no conditions like; "if god wills it," and the usual cop outs Xians like to use to explain why prayers aren't answered. The fact is, and I've done research & have had many years of personal experience with prayer failing, prayers don't work. Yet people lie to themselves bcuz they are in denial.
People need to become mature & responsible and take life as it is!

I still mourn the cat as silly as it seems and while I hope he is in a better place I do not see anything to support this whatsoever and that brings a true sadness to me.

Some would say to you in response to this vlog. "Well to make a request that all deaf blind people be cured" would be to "test" God, which the Bible speaks against. Also Jesus said that the poor and sick we will always have with us. So to heal them all would be a miracle that would go against scripture."

Dmaj, as I document in my video on Bible--Prayer, Jesus reportedly promised unconditionally that his God would fulfill any prayers--an extravagantly false promise that his God could not possibly fulfill. This unconditional promise reportedly offered by Jesus is a standing invitation to 'test God'. We all know what will happen if any of us prays that even this one little deaf-blind girl will get immediate sight and hearing. Nothing will happen.

If prayer actually worked, I'm sure we'd see factual evidence, which I just demonstrated doesn't happen. I've seen, and been involved in, many attempts at intercessory prayer. Not once did I see any of them answered. And all the claims aren't verified. Isn't that rather suspicious?

I just finished a book that sucked. But, it had 3 pages filled with the name of gods people no longer believe in. Faith was lost. Faith of course requires no proof and often endures even when there is evidence against it Creationism Vs. Evolution. is a good example.

@missmaemae31 Edward is making a point here, i.e., you can pray all you want about anything and nothing will happen. If you pray for something that has a liklihood of 50% probability, its occurrence will be no more frequent than a coin toss landing on heads. You might notice that praying for some things never works, such as asking god to grow back a wounded soldiers amputated leg. Because human beings have no regenerative limb powers this will never happen.

Having faith that your mom is your mom is not a huge claim. The nature of the evidence is based upon the nature of the claim. There is no reason to not believe my mom was my mom. The reason is that its not a reach for her to be my mom. She cared for me and fed me and there were other people growing up who confirmed it. Is it possible im wrong? Yep.

All I know is that God is real and he is full of mercy and grace for humans, God created humans in His likeness. The bible even says that nature awaits glory, and that God even cares about animals. How much more will he love humans and provide for them. God gave Adam and Eve everything except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Not one amputee has ever been healed via prayer. I was in the hosp. with a lot of other amputees in Nam. I never saw any miracles or healings. I'd expect to see some prayers answered.

I spent 50 years looking. From the youngest years of my life, to just several years ago, I have had the opportunity to study the subject of prayer, and if god heals via prayer. The answer is no!
Besides my personal observations, along with following others who prayed for such healings, I can say that god does not answer prayer. Whether he's just always out playing golf, ot is just not existent (the latter is ny bet), prayer does not get answered!!

Jesus did many miracles of healing that are in the bible and others that are not written. John 21:25. Jesus also commanded his disciples to go out and heal the sick and they did. Jesus' disciples still are doing miracles and healing today, go to Bethel church in Redding, California and see for yourself, and get healing if you need any.

I don't say anything I can't back up. I had about 16 verses, all of them pertained to JC healing, and in the majority of them, demon possession was involved. I think there are 2 verses where he specifically refers to a particular illness as deaf demon, and blinness demons. When he removed them, the person was healed of that demon's affliction!! I'm going to get and post those verses now, if I have to go theu every bible version I have, which is about 30.

Jesus made salvation so easy. But it's hard for people to understand, that's why the bible says that you have to be like a child to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It's so easy to understand that it's actually easier for a child to understand than an adult who is so puffed up with knowledge. sometimes demonic possesion causes physical disease but not everyone who is sick is possesed by a demon. If someone has a demon then obviously the person is going to have some level of mental torment.

No, what jesus was saying was that both physical & mental diseases R caused by demon possession.
But just about every verse that has jesus healing people, it involves casting out demons. It wasn't rare. It was almost every sick person healed.
No demons cause disease. Modern medicine has shown that all disease has natural, explainable causes.
Since U say demons do cause some disease, please present those diseases to us here.

No illnesses come from invisible bacteria :) micro organisms that cannot be detected by the human eye :) they dont come from demons :) They just didnt know why there was so much death

Exactly, & that's what I've been trying to exin to perfectshot. When I 1st raised the issue that JC was as superstitious as any other Hebrew of the time, per says I'm just looking for reasons to fond for god not existing. I dispise people who disgard years of some1's research & say something as stupid as that.

My point in telling perfectshot this, as U know, was 2 say that the story of jeebus exorcising demons 2 cure illness, only shows the authors who wrote it were not only totally ignorant of the cause of disease, but were completely obsessed by their superstitious beliefs that demons cause disease. So they just made stories of their hero healing al kinds of disease by having JC cast out the demons that caused it.
Unfortunately, Xians just ignore the obvious!

Coo, Im sure it says people who believe, do even greater things than JC....so far never seen anything :) which most definately includes healing. Though when man actually moves his hands, by doing things himself, with the knowledge he has painstakingly researched, then man does accomplish alot, Seems man learned from his mistakes that talking to yourself does nothing, and when man has exhausted his knowledge, does this god character step in ......nope never seen it, so that tell me alot

Ya know, in 1 of my previous posts, I kinda gave away a part of my reasons of what I post and Y.
I like seeing how people's minds work, especially when it comes to their religious beliefs. One thing we see repeatedly is how Xians will respond 2 our points in the most irrational of ways. If they responded the way they do about religion 2 practical but seriously important everyday issues, they would be so ashamed, & feel so stupid...yet, 2 them when it comes to their god, anything goes.

Yes, Its truly an insideous form of mind control. But do U knwo what I really dispise about Xianity? Not only does it intend to control your personal actions, with the "sin/Hell threat factor," but it instructs U that U R now watched and listened to by the "thought police."
To me, that's the most insideous type of slavery one could be subjected to.
I see all of that as inherently evil.

I guess what freaks me out is the fact that Xians know all of these things. Now I know they suppress it, and R deeply in denial, but this is why! They know it doesn't add up, yet they believe and submit anyway. The reason, in my opinion, is bcuz they're playing Pascal's wager.
But I just can't do that. I think its a matter of honor and integrity. If U see evil in something that says its good, we can't just let that slide. I don't know Y Fundies have such a hard time with that.

I think every person should experience it, I dont think a person telling another person holds to much weight, though if you know someone alot, lets say they have a condition, and they are healed with no medical assistance, then yep i would say there maybe be something, but then you got to say what about the other ones, what makes them different and not healed or have had the illness all there life

I thought U knew the story. I wont tell the whole thing again. Its painful everytime I have 2 do it.
This all happened about 5 years after my military service. I was the perfect Xian at the time. I had been haunted by my Hosp. experience with all the amputees coming in from the firld. Some had 1 leg missing, some 2, & even those who lost their family jewels. They weren't uncommon & it scared the living U know what out of me. But I had a leg that a bullet had almost blown my Tibia

That is, it almost blew my chin bone in half. I was in for easy times...but I could never forget the guys worse off.
As I said about 5 years later, I was a member of a small church in Arl. Va. My friend's daughter was in Children's hosp. Cancer ward.
After she passed, the experience left me numb. I had to understand Y she wasn't healed, at least helped by god.
Here's teh part U haven't heard. I took 2 good Xian friends of mine back to the Cancer ward. We each picked 1 child cancer

Know whats funny? If there was a god, lets say the Xian god is real after all, then Y in the world has he gone 2 so much trouble 2 make it look as if he dont exist? I mean, look at how many ways in life he tries 2 make it look like he doesn't exist, period. He created Evolution, I assume, so that we R fooled into believing its true!! Well if Truth DEMANDS belief, why would it DEMAND belief, if something is True, you dont DEMAND and THREAT, if something is true. If' its forced belief, same as forced love, love me or die...anything that threatens is not true or love in my world, or anything that demands belief

I think whats gets me is that just because I exist, I deserve torture???...so in effect god is promoting sin, he is creating people with the possibility to sin once born, thus creating more pain in the world and more sin, and just because a god created and says he loves, but at the same time destroys if you dont except......i dont think i would destroy my creation, no matter what it was, i created it so if i love it i love it, otherwise why create????

According to scripture, which I do not believe bcuz its a product of man's mind, we are starting out handicapped with original sin (purpose=guilt). We have no choice but to be sinful, therefore, in order to be saved we have to be totally submissive to what we R told to do. And again, the most insideous thing about thsi is that we can sin just with our thoughts.
And people wonder Y we say Xian dogma is harmful!!
It makes no sense. If it were true, then its evil.

You've put the whole thing in a nutshell, & an irrefutable 1 at that! This is Y we cant find acceptance with this doctrine.
The only other possibily 2 this is that its possible that some small amount may have some truth but the greater percentage of it is distorted. I have reason 2 believe the entire hell business was placed in2 scripture by the early fathers of the church. But most of the evidence, especially with the pre-Xian pagan connection, its all in question as having any truth.

What Im saying is that if we have free will, and I truly believe we do, then the Xian god cant be omniscient!
This is a dilemma in logic. He god knows everythiing B 4 it happens, and his knowledge is as perfect as he's supposed to be. If this is so, then we cannot have free will bcuz he's pre-knowledge prohibits us from exercising our free will. We'd be locked into his pre- knowledge.
But as I said, I believe we do have free will, therefore god is not omniscient bcuz he doesn't exist.

patient each. I think we spent a total of 4 or 5 days at the ward praying 4 our choices.
I couldn't make any sense of Y god wouldn't help my friend's daughter, I made myself believe there was a good reason 4 it. I figured that at least 1 of the 3 we picked 2 pray 4 would have 2 be healed.
Nothing! Their prognosis' were no different than when we started. 1 should've been healed, or helped.
I was thorough & checked on them regularly. They eventually passed on.
I changed that day

The whole religion thing is before medicine etc, so they never had a clue why they were dieing, seeing that they could not see the micro organisims....I mean you would die of rotting teeth back then..life span maybe 20-30 years, I think the dark ages where a bad time for man, he was not using his brain,...until the enlightenment....what gets me is we could have been further ahead of ourselves now. religion/dark ages stifled our growth of knowledge

Me and Ed see that subject a bit differently. I have no problem understanding evil that exists in the world. If I was god, I'd create mam, then leave it up to him 2 solve his own problems. If I were to intervene at all, I'd be violating man's free will. What's the sense it going thru the struggles of life, if someone is going 2 jump in & make it all better!
We've created the problems we're facing, and its up to us 2 solve out own problems .
Personally, I wouldn't want it any other way

Oh man! U haven't heard anything yet...Of course, I'll spare U on all that. I'm just saying, if there's a hell...I've already been thru it. But then, so have many people. I'm not bitter, or angry, or anything of the sort, as Xians always like to assume. I just try to learn from my mistakes and experiences, and in the past 10 years, I've learned more about Theology/Christianity, than I had in the past 35 years.
I'm sure U have some stories U could tell!

No, no, I'm not including all that. I was making the point of contrast between a god who'd intervene, & Y, vs. a god who'd let us go on our own 2 figure out our own problems & pick ourselves up after our mistakes, that's all.
If U start to factor in all the biblical claims, the whole story becomes more absurd than it already is! LOls! :-)
I would use the "impersonal god" to clarify my position on the possibily of accepting such an intelligent. creator, but "ONLY" if we had evidence.
