the fireworks was real. it's just that what we saw was fake. it was dangerous for the pilot to go after the fireworks plus it's hard to get it perfect at the right timing n angle for the viewers n audience. don't u think there would be a gossip before it appears on newsapaper that "last night during the opening ceremony i looked out of my window but didn't c any fireworks bit i'm seeing the fireworks on tv. isn't that a bit strange? it's fake!" i'm just making a point
