I recently saw and quite enjoyed Takeshi in Kikujirô no natsu. Last year when visiting Japan I flipped on the tv very briefly and it seemed like he was on every other show. Thanks for the reviews!
I've seen Big Dreams Little Tokyo, I've also seen a few of those Mormon films. I see no comparison. Big Dreams is funny and insightful, those Mormon films are generally just the opposite. Also Big Dreams is artfully done and very impressive for such a low budget film. Definitely worth checking out.
Great reviews. It's hard to imagine a straight book from Takeshi when our only exposure to him is the Castle, but it sounds very appealing. The plot of the 3rd story sounds like pretty much half of the Japanese film industry output!
Great to see you doing these reviews, it's like getting a recommendation from a friend.
I wonder if I can borrow japanananese books from the local library. I sure hope so, it would be nice to read something "different". Swedish books are all the same, so they tend to get quite boring.

You're are a collosal idiot. You must be an eikaiwa teacher. "Yokoso from Japan!" Seriously man, you're dumb.

LDS films are often more shallow, but the approach to humor seemed similar to me.
The Best Two Years is actually a good film, I recommend it if to people, LDS or not.

Huh? Why are you promoting that LDS film? Mormons are crazy and I dont want them screwing up Japan too. Film does look a little interesting though.
ImperialPimp 4 years ago
I'm not promoting any LDS films here, just mentioning them for context. What's really screwed up is your bigotry my friend.

OK, cool. But try to deny that Mormons are creepy and have hurt many people....
ImperialPimp 4 years ago
This is not the place for this debate.
claytonian 4 years ago
How are they creepy? I know a lot of LDS members and they are not at all creepy, nor do they ever hurt people!

Takeshi's castle is awesome. (It's still called Takeshi's castle in the UK)

Nice reviews, and your kitties playing in the background are, as always, very cute.
