you dont need to know the song, you just need to know how to count...and fast. nothing is worse than seeing that couple that is standing in one spot trying to find the beat while the others have already picked it up and started. then again, ive only ever seen one maybe once or twice.
it's not really a problem to be in the dark about the music you'll be dancing to because you practice enough to songs that match the dance style and they all have the same underlying beat. counting isnt that hard

I think you must blame the trainers, not the couples. Trainers should set quality as the top priority - often it is not.
It looks more like shiny fabric because the black part of the middle part is too spaced out for gems and there were rhinestones there they would be improperly position and these dress are way too expensive to have that mistake trust me

No it's not...standard dances are : Vienesse Waltz, Quickstep, Waltz, Foxtrot and Tango. Samba is LATIN.
