Thank you for posting this. I did not even realize this. I am not Muslim or an Arab, but I believe that we can all live in peace if we resepct each other. I support Ron Paul who says that we need to stop our foreign policies. I pray for peace everyday
I've watched all of these videos on YouTube, part 1 - 5.
I was not surprised to see so many negative judgments/valuations of the Hollywood movies to Arabs and Islam. Prejudices just come from misconceptions and ignorance.
I'm a Muslim, but not Arab, and I respect to all human faiths and differentials.
Everyone can find the good and the evil things of human in all cultures, races, nationalities, religions, groups, states, ideologies, etc.
Counter-stereotypes can become just as bad. I'm not sure if I like the new "sympathetic terrorist" image (to use John Updike's phrase) of a guy who's just depressed or laid-off (like in Syriana). It really doesn't bring us much closer to understanding the problem of extremism (here, take some prozac!), and it certainly doesn't do anything to teach us about Arab culture.
@gentlerat let's also take into account the nuances of the relationship between religion and economic safety throughout the world. in the west, when someone gets laid off or unemployed, how many turn to God, start going to church more regularly and identifies themselves as more 'religious'? it varies, obviously. the same holds true for those in the arab/muslim world.
also, in syriana, the unemployed worker was pakistani, which is located in SOUTH ASIA, and was a part of india for most of it's
Interesting. When a group of people are percieved as a threat vilify and keep on doing it so your people would have no mercy for them. So use your people to anhilate them. Then long after they they no longer posses any threat, it's ok to bring up true history back and even to reward their remains by given their names to some of you toy inventions like the Appachee helicopter. Some real evil twisted thinking but isn't that what really took place?
They miss-portrayed Jews, Blacks, Natives, Indians, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, German, French, English, Dutch, African, Latin and of course, Arab people.
I am Arabic and I love my American teacher like a father and my American friends and Arab christians but it hurts to see my people looking like angry monkeys with booms lol
great documentary..muslims r not evil...dey r humans like u n me...dey ave a right 2 live in freedom n wid respect just as much as v do...i understand that...n i hope d rest of d world does 2
My question is this..When the last evil Nazi dies of old age..who is Hollywood going to hate next? A recent film about John Rabe has just been completed but I doubt we'll hear much about it. Maybe one day they'll make a film about Max Schmeling, Heinrich Severloh or even Erich Hartmann whose portrait is in the Smithsonian.
@BellumSacrumBellum28 screeming cursing its easy we all can do it ,who are u trying to convince by using bad language be more civilized and more polite everyperson should have this basic moralities don't be a raciest its not cool i guess its somehow natural first with japanies then black people & know arabs just read the quran & think 4ur self :) peace
Good documentary. A bit too hard on Jamie Farr though. he brought a lot of positive attention to Lebanese living in Ohio through his character on MASH.
Here in Australia "Sleek the Elite" sheds some humour on Lebanese down under.
I wish someone would make a documentary which protrayed Germans in a good light. Hollywood hates them Also!
Ironically since you spoke of Germans (since True Lies is in this documentary) Arnold Schwarzenegger (I know he's Austrian)is a part of this. The character Conan the Barbarian is full of that in the movie.
