  • One does not simply call a multimeter "stupid".

    Sincerely, a physics student.

  • It's ironic you need batteries for your voltage meter for a solar charger :p

  • @jj420716 so you wouldn't even try to make your own adapters?? It isn't that difficult to solder a good couple of connections, and plugs and sockets can be bought very cheaply!!

  • I have the same multimeter as you .... kewl :)

  • useless without adapters....

  • wow 0.18 watts, should power one fairy light.

  • @i4ittwasdis why would you power up a light in sunny conditions?

  • The point is to connect it to a battery, and then use the battery as a source of power.

and have that thing charge the battery all the time, no?

  • 11 AMP!!!!!!! men i should stop paying electricity bill .... lol

  • How about a little research and planning before your start a video.

  • @Studflucker Stop whinging.

  • That thing looks so cheap, ill just use my juice pack

  • lol looked like linus was taking a piss in bush from the thumbnail.

  • Can it pull my gtx570?:)

  • هذا اي شي يجي بايده سواله انبوكس

  • how much

  • Why can't they just invent a SOLAR PANEL JACKET!?!?!

  • @rommeldude1 ScotteVest used to make one. Thing wasn't cheap though.

  • @gadgetman007 No, I mean, all covered up Solar Panel Jacket.. not just a portion of a jacket..

  • pfff...I have a better technology for solar cells than this!!

  • No snow????? Very nice neighborhood guy. I hope that soon we will be seeing a new video on Linus's new baby, you think?

  • where is the HD 7970 ! I saw one on NCIXesthers channel so I know you guys have them. Go make an unboxing and review GOD!

  • Smalls steps in the right direction. Put this on significant discount, its time for change. No need to be greedy.

  • هذا اي شي يجي بايده سواله انبوكس

  • ما الذي تتحدثين عنه

  • Also Linus, USB connectors can only push 500 mA. That's the USB standard and the wiring of a USB cable cannot handle the massive current draw needed.

  • linix

the amp function is to check current draw of a semicunductor or electronics, not to mesure how much power or current puts out, it most be wired in series. you probality just blew the fuse in side or burn the current option... looks likea a good product but is way big.. how much does it goes for... like you say is good to have when you go out camping..

  • the connectors are probably for a 12v car battery to power your tech devices through the 12v power point in the car, maintaining the battery on a trickle charge to make it through your camping trip. Or get 10 of em and series them together for 120v and sit in the sun.

  • I dare anyone to power their Graphics card with this on a summer day just for lolz

  • if you're ever like totally screwed :P

  • "Unrolling" video, hehe.

  • 11 Amps would fry you...

  • @PeterTheEater I am sorry to tell you that this electrical devices can not kill a mouse.

the amps are changing in function of your Voltage and resistance. This test was actualy without any resistance. The resistance of a human is around 1000Ohms (max.) and using the Ohms law(V=R.I)with our 9V solar panel you get around 0.009Amps(max). So calm down, No body is going to get hurt with that(1Amps = (in most case)DEATH.

  • Comment removed

  • @MoronixProduct3 Are you stupid or what? The human body has many MOhms of resistance, not 1kOhms. Also, no, with 9V you CAN be hurt if the 9V is pulled towards a low impedance highly conductive material such as a watch or gold ring. You CAN be seriously injured, this doesn't boil down to Ohm's law. There's many factors and 50 mA is enough to kill you, however that's at around 40V. If you knew anything about Electrical Engineering you would not give such terrible advice. Please refrain from it.

  • you have a 7970???? are they new, why come i haven't heard of them, i must of been away from the pc world to long..i been in the firearm world, soon im going back into the aircraft world

  • Can some one translate 1v to how many wats

  • @RUSSIAN26KILLER depends of your resistance

  • @RUSSIAN26KILLER 1 volt x ?amps = watts.

  • @booiiboot Thanks

  • Place this on your dashboard wherever you park to run a fan that circulates air through your car so your car isn't 100+ degrees when you get in.

  • It's fucking Canada, where is the fucking sun?

  • @geekhater360 Where is the fucking snow

  • @MoronixProduct3 Where did I mention snow? You don't get a lot of sun if you live there. No point in getting a solar powered device.

  • Why don't you unbox the 7970!!!!! omg.

  • just wire it up to an outlet. Then you can plug things into it.

  • Btw, i agree with youbemoredead, make a NCIX store in Portugal :DDD

Keep on doing videos !!! Missed em lately :S

  • nobody cares about a batteri just du an unboxing of the radeon 7970

  • Current = voltage/resistance with no resistance, you're current = ∞amps

  • Hmm. Not "the window"! Lots of people misunderstand how solar panels work. They can produce a charge with any visible light as long as it is enough, of this I am sure...

  • The moon glows by reflecting sunlight. So does that mean that if you had a Solar Panel sensitive enough, you could charge it at night on a full or gibous moon?

  • @Amaroqdricaldari I think so,but it would take years... maybe even decades... lol :p

  • long time no see Linus.

  • Please unbox something cool... and make a freakin NCIX store in Norway! is that to much to ask for?!

  • i bought one and stuck it on the hoood of my mower :P keeps the battery charged good

  • Check this video about multimeters!

    /user/Afrotechmods?feature=g-u#p/u/0/bF3OyQ3HwfU

  • lol i was gunna say... "11 AMPs holy fuck!"

  • @japaneseaggression hahahahaha

  • @japaneseaggression same here

  • @japaneseaggression 11 x 12 = 132 watts. It's rated for 10w, so it's only capable of around a amp MAX.

  • He seems a little pissed.

  • Comment removed

  • how many jigga watts???

  • @d1001more Jigga isn't a real classification... YET...

  • okay you might get your car battery charged if you are in the desert and have food and water for several weeks lol

  • When I grow up I wanna be like Linus, all the time surrounded by fuckin' expensive electronic stuff 4 free!

  • Linus you look disapointed :S

  • You Canadians get sunlight? Damn! Would have never guessed.

  • honestly the thumnail at first glance look liked he was peeing in a bush

  • Umm I think you are meassuring amps the wrong way. You have to connect the multimeter in-line with the power source with the other connector to the left of the ground connector on the meter.

    Just saying.

  • I like how he does the solar panel test while standing in front of the window.

  • 0.1W!!!!!

  • Nice Canadian Tire Multimeter...... I got one on sale for 15 bucks

  • haha lol "Unrolling and first look" :D

  • The sound cuts out at the end. Did vegas run out of ram again?? :' )

  • you cant mesuer amp that way

  • Why does he need to do physics? You learn this sort of stuff in first/second year of secondary school in science which everyone does

  • To measure amps you need to plug your voltmeter in a circuit with something. For example, you can measure how much amps a light bulb can pull out of the solar panel.

  • @themonster1307 Actually, you don't measure amps with a voltmeter. You measure it with an Ammeter or with a multimeter on the amperage setting. Also, you have to run it in series, not parallel.

  • @Nadrealis exactly what i was about to say :]

  • @aryesegal1988 I've commented on a few things, what were you going to agree with haha

  • @themonster1307 afaik you can measure how much amps any power supply can give like that. Because when measuring with ammeter it is short-circuited and it will take as many amps as possible. Don't try that with 12V car battery, those batteries give much more that regular ammeter can handle. But 1.5V battery is okay, they usually can't give you over 10A. You actually can measure if battery is full or not by short-circuiting it with ammeter.

  • @Viltzu2 Please explain to me how a battery CAN'T give you over 10 Amps during a short circuit. 1.5 V / .1Ohms for example is 15 Amps. Also before you say anything, yes it's possible. If you understood the chemistry behind batteries you'd know how much power is in 1.5 V battery. That's why Li-Ion batteries are required by law to have over-current and feedback protection when used because they have a higher chance of blowing up causing death and house fires. Don't ever measure current in parallel

  • @Nadrealis I was talking about 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries. They USUALLY can't give over 10A. AFAIK. Their internal resistance is maybe somewhere between 150mA - 300mA, so yeah, it could give over 10A but I have never seen one. Haven't really ever done that with all new battery. But I'm haven't researched about this stuff really. This is just what one teacher said to our class. And I know I haven't seen any alkaline 1.5V battery that has given over 10A :P

  • ..and other computer videos

  • No snow or -20 C* in January... want to move to North America :D

  • how many amps can you get out of one?

  • Where's HD7970? Linus you're getting slower at unboxing MAJOR new products! :(

  • @novicewarrior1 It's not his fault, he hasn't reseved one yet, and he was at CES.

  • You can use watts and voltage to get amps also.

  • Linus, you can not calculate the voltage (volts) from the amperage (miliamps) without knowing the resistance because you have to apply Ohm's law. :)

Hehe, or you can turn the multimeter in the voltage mode.

    Hope this helps, thanks!

  • @Firehawk2047 Watt= V*A if I don't I'm not wrong :)

  • @NikyRipy your are talking about power here :) Did Linus measured the power too, I missed that...

  • @Firehawk2047 Ah ok :D

  • @3:00 Fascinating... LMAO

  • UNBOX A GIFT CARD!!!

  • amd 7970 please

  • @krtkrt100 wait for somehting new thats worth unboxing to come out....

  • UIA....O_O

NÃO SE VÊ ISSO TODO DIA

  • make videos about computers, gpus, cpus etc... or something about it :)

  • I'm always a little bitch when I'm helping my dad start of the car by connecting cords of other car's battery and it gives off sparks :S

  • @Tomek35050 thats because your putting the negative end on the dead battery and not on the engine block :D

  • @AndyThaBoss92 well obviously :D thats not the case :/

  • nice.. it ain't gonna power my 1kW rig, though :(

  • overclock it

  • you were meassuring the Ampere with no ohms on it? that means you are shorting the solar panel and the amps skyrocket...

  • @pangeltveit Ay, he should have hooked it up to a load and measured the current and voltage then :o

  • hey Linus, do you do physics???

  • @Toffer161 why are so many people wondering if he "does" physics?

  • @donyario cause from 3:47 till the end of the video, he keeps trying but not sure of what he was doing or mistaking on the S.I unit of the results like volt or ampere, i was waiting for him to say coulomb, its as if he had never got into a practical of physics class, that's why we wanted to know if he do or did physics or not :)

  • Comment removed

  • Are you going to unbox the Radeon 7970 any time soon?

  • i remember when u review pc's :'(

  • are you sure you live in canada? where is the snow?

  • @Nopiw this reminds me to learn about physical science again instead X_X

  • For unboxings, reviews and othe....

  • Did he say anything about his sister doesn't care?Does that mean his sister was the one that was holding the camera?Cool!

  • I want one.

  • Linus, you disappointed me with your current measuring skill. :) You need to connect multimeter in series between the solar panel and a device you want to power. Current needs to flow through the multimeter.

  • Dude where's the cat?

  • You can't measure the current like that. You need a small resistor (100 Ohm is more than enough) and measure the voltage drop. Divide that by the value of the resistor and you've got the current flowing.

  • Welcome Back Linus:)

  • I am all about the solar. That thing is huge you know it will charge a phone in a couple of hours

  • FASCINATING! :D

  • does it work at night??

  • @KamenRiderBlackSun

    Facepalm

  • @191kieran191 You beat me too it :L

  • @MrAMColes

i couldn't be leave he said that lol

  • when did u film this because this was not filmed today

  • I wouldn't buy that.

  • Silly me... I though that it was a camera.

  • To all those raging about hardware, Linus only got back from CES a couple of days ago, and he's only interested in producing good content, I'm sure he's working on a 7970 vid, but he wants to include benchmarks. Anyway, its still a curious product.

  • who know how to format computer???

  • 7970 unboxing plz linus..like this so he can see.....

  • Linus come on ......you know you will never be able to charge a car battery through this toy

  • 11 on the 200mA setting means 11 times 0.2 Amps = 2.2 Amps (at least it makes more sence to me)

  • @tschouschai It doesnt. 200 microamps / 2000 microamps / 200 ma / 2000 ma settings only affect precision, you don't multiple it or anything.

  • @tschouschai Wrong. It's just change in measuring precision IE measuring on a smaller scale. It's like trying to measure the length of a room with a ruler instead of a tape measure, you wouldn't need the precision down to a mm.

  • unrolling, I C WAT U DID THERE

  • really linus ur cutting us short... And there wasn't even an intro to why use been gone

  • @jwg811 it's pretty obvious - he was at CES.

  • WTF?! LINUS! WHERE ARE ALL THE PC HARDWARE UNBOXING AND REVIEWS?!

  • @DeepestBlueJ TechTips. That doesnt only mean PC

  • game console on a camping trip win

  • don't forget to subscribe for more unboxings, reviews and other computer videos!!

now my question is.... where are "computer videos"???

  • more pc performance and game hardware please

  • The 7970 has just been released and your talking about this crap!! what a douche.

  • @MrLEON092 agree!!

  • Next up Linus unboxes some batteries and some tissues. Whatever useless shit he can find.

  • Heh, in the "details" of this product, they list "Game Boy" as one of the electronics. Just me pointing out the small things lol.

  • Who cares about a 7000 series amd card?

Just use a xfx 5750 and you can game good.

  • @CeIebrityGamer depends what you want to play, and how much of a graphics wh0re you are.. gl with playing new games on max settings at 1080p or more on 5750

  • Assuming that everyone uses a 1080p monitor, which isn't the case. I for one only use a 19" monitor with a 1440x900 resolution and a HD6770 (OC'd) which gives decent frame rates (lets say 40-50fps) with new games (BF3 for example) on max settings.

Might be the case for CelebrityGamer.

  • Fuck it. Just buy a gas generator!

  • @jamn805 Far easier to find a petrol one than a LPG one....

  • plz unbox HD7990

  • i thought the 1st thing you would do after returning from vegas, is unbox the hd7970. oh well.

  • Oot & Aboot ^_^

  • Linus, elric wants you! /watch?v=OOzy3eFjRIg

  • @qlplayer952 Lol I think everyone knew linus next vid right after elric posted that would be spammed with elric wanted to know where he was lol. Now to see if linus sees any of these comments that elric wanted him and see if he checks out that vid.

  • but yea you cant really measure current without anything drawing actual current from it. 10 miliamps would just be from resistance inside the cells

  • 11 amp, with that overcast? GOOD GOD could you imagine!?!
