After this movie the series went down hill in a hurry. Why can't hollywood writers realize that the novelists who originally wrote the books are far better writers then they are. If you never read the books and the movie titles were different then the series would have been just great action movies but if you are going to name the movies after some novels at least have some similarities. Robert Ludlum was probably rolling in his grave when the next movies came out.

After going through his experiences of being "hunted" and not knowing why, etc. the relief and the notion of being "understood" by Marie and thus his emotional reaction in my opinion are far more fitting of this character.

I like this one, it's one of the only alternate endings I actually have ever watched. It forces you to kind of dichotimize your view of Jason and Marie, though. I think it lends a more human aspect, but the point I took is that how much civilty can Jason reclaim for himself?
