This is extremely sturdy, and solid. No squeaks or movement of any kind and I'm sure it will hold a lot of weight. We've had 4 adults on the bed watching TV and I would not hesitate to recommend sleeping 2 400lb people on this design.

The box IS the boxspring. There is no need for a boxspring with a platform.

Looks pretty sturdy to me. Especially if the top plywood piece is fairly thick. The box springs from you bed is probably going to distribute the weight where it needs to go. I think that I will definitely be building me one of these. Thanks for posting.
