unless u can eat a nuclear bomb or bathe in a tub full of bullets, all war time goods are in essence ECONOMIC BADS- they dont create wealth, they are meant for the sole purpose of DESTROYING wealth
we have only had 2 world wars so it's not exactly a statistically significant number to work with but it seems that global conflict follows the trend... in fact, in times past wars have been instigated with the express purpose of boosting economy, but the days where empire expansion is possible are over, thankfully. wars make nations into de facto fascist nations, and fascism (not to support it) is very effective economically.
Would you like to address any specific points, because I would strongly disagree and could easily get into a tit for tat 'argument from authority' tennis match with you but it would be illogical to persue such a juvenile game of he said/she said.
To claim he debunks my points requires you to show how at least...
war is NEVER a net positive. At the very best, war is a net zero sum game- that is if none of the troops do anything, no bombs are made, no troops are called & no cities destroyed & no civilians killed
To even do one of these acts is to engage in destruction of capital.
Second, Fascism is in no way beneficial for the economy in general. yes it benefits a few firms who are in bed with the mafia like entity- govt. But what of the other entities who remain unseen?
What of the consumer? what of the competitors? And just how is the quality when there is in effect a state control? IT PLUMMETS! Bastiat shows this in his works which i suggest u read online. just google his name and u can find them online
The whole purpose of an economy is to satisfy the infinite demands & wants of consumers. nothing more nothing less.
Its a logical fallacy to even assume that destruction of very scarce capital can then create capital & satisfy these infinite desires
I'm not saying that those things are incorrect but if you take the time to read my words you would see that.
When there regimes break down (which has without fail been the trend with fascism) the infrastructure left behind is exploited by the victors leading to economic boom the evidence for this is so self evident it needs on example. I'm not vouching for fascism, I'm an anarchist! It's just true... it's not a good thing simply because it's true.
I like how you so quickly descended into psychobabble...
I never claimed it was a net or sum gain, just economically and scientifically. The fact is that during world wars technology and infrastructure advanced at a rate never before seen, and with negative population growth this leads to rapid economical growth in the year proceeding these global conflicts, for the victors at least.
Hitler nearly ruled the world with his fascists, as have other fascist regimes.
Not to mention the technology's that are developed and classified. We are years behind the military because they would like a monopoly in technology. Had these technology's been introduced into the real economy we would be better off.
It really is depressing how many people I encounter who think that war is good for the economy. Not only does it reveal a truly profound lack of understanding on their part, it makes them often support the idea of going to war! This ignorance literally causes war, by increasing it's popularity amongst the electorate, and the deaths of countless numbers of people result.
"This ignorance literally causes war, by increasing it's popularity amongst the electorate"
That's a pretty strong charge! Give me a single example of this ever happening, either a government convincing its people to go to war for the economic benefits or a population deciding to go to war for economic, rather than geographical and territorial gain.
a military job is no different to a government job. The left have a complete misunderstanding on how an economy grow. It does not come from spending. It comes from producing something a consumer want to improve standard of living

Bastiat is a very quick read. although its quick & concise, he brutally demolishes these mercantilist & economically illiterate claims.
Another good one to read is, "Economics in One Lesson" which is a bit more comprehensive

uh wow please read Frederich Bastiat's works.
There are so many fallacies in your statement. Bastiat debunks half of them in his books

@4rcane True, but civil servants are less likely to die and more likely to a do a private job in the future.
