As to who judges what is and is not truth, that's a fair question to ask. The answer, in this case, is that we must all examine the evidence and we must have some understanding about how sources are used, and how historians do their work. That is the key.

If you think you have a true appreciation for history you will be as critical of Irving's approach to his sources as you would anybody elses. You gave no example or reference of Irving's dishonesty, and I can't simply take your word for it as Jews would have us take their wild guess for the 6-million figure. Can you name another WWII non-Jewish historian? Nope. Irving speaks German and spoke it directly with major living Nazi figures-- which other historians could not, and who would not trust another historian anyway--and researched. What makes a professional historian? Did Herodotus or Thucydides have degrees in history?

I think Hitler knew what was happening to the Jews was similar to what was happening to the prisoners in the Soviet Gulag.
He didn't know in what extent it was going on. He must have heard that killings happened but in a war I wouldn't have reacted either.

Conspiracy theories are often a sign of paranoia and they are a good indicator of a lack of neutrality, or ability to weigh evidence appropriately. I'm not saying Irving is "mad", I just think that he is a questionable historian. It is appropriate to challenge his assertions - we should all do this, if we care about history, accuracy and evidence.

Irving has received the highest compliments from other historians for his outstanding contributions to the subject and he's received insults and threats from those who don't like what he writes. Paul Rassinier was kept at Buchenwald and another dissident camp and testified that there was no systematic extermination or even abusive treatment. The tiny numbered tattoos were meant to curtail identity theft and provide the campers with the best possible medical care. Dog tags or name tags would not have been effective at all in that environment. Your ignorance of the non-Jewish historians regarding the Second World War illustrated to me that your understanding of this subject is already limited. I expect that Irving validates certain opinions for you that you've held for some time. Now you may not be able to accept proper scholarship, you may not know what proper historical writing is, I cannot control those factors. If you think you have a true appreciation for history you will be as critical of Irving's approach to his sources as you would anybody elses. This means that when Irving ignores evidence contrary to his views, only partially publishes or misquotes peoples' words or uses flawed logic, you should question his theories.

Anything unfavorable about Jews will not get published. The English publication of "200 Years Together," Solzenitsyn's last book is suppressed by--guess who?--the Jewish publishing cabal. Solzhenitsyn wrote "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch," among others, and is acknowledged by all as the 20th Century's greatest writer. If you think he is an hones historian, I don't even know where to begin with you. I'd first encourage you to educate yourself on the difference between a writer and a professional historian, and then I suppose I'd direct you to the proper obligations a historian has in approaching their discipline.

You gave no example or reference of Irving's dishonesty, and I can't simply take your word for it as Jews would have us take their wild guess for the 6-million figure. Can you name another WWII non-Jewish historian? Nope. Irving speaks German and spoke it directly with major living Nazi figures-- which other historians could not, and who would not trust another historian anyway--and researched. What makes a professional historian? Did Herodotus or Thucydides have degrees in history?

But furthermore, he totally ignores evidence that contradicts his theories and assumed every document he uses is literal truth, which professional historians do not do. But your discussion of the 6 million number, I'm not saying investigation of the number isn't worth study, but you should also recognize the phenomenal amount of work that went into coming up with that number (Irving himself has admitted at various times as many as 4, to 4.5 million Jews died as a result of Nazi Germany).

History is always written with a political slant; an entire subject devoted to this slant is called historiology. Finally, 60 million died as a result of WWII. Whom do we hear about? Jews! I used to think Hitler's War was a very well written piece but when I read the court transcripts I was left wondering just what the hell he was trying to get at.
He accepts 100,000 people were killed using Dr.Brack's methods which included gas and at some point says that even if Hitler had known what Himmler had been up to in 1942/43 he wouldn't have minded so much.
What is Mr.Irving's case, then? He clearly has an agenda.

I care not a jot for Irving's personal views on race relations or how he believes England should be governed. I of course accept that some of said views may be peppered throughout his work. However, as a WW2 historian there is no one to come close to him, his research or his archive (before trial lawyers confiscated most of it). For this reason Irving is a hero of the freedom of speech movement, he tells it like he sees it, no matter what the Zeitgeist may dictate. His books speak for themselves

Norway was not "Evil", nor was Austria, Italy Spain etc... and all of the other Axis nations and collaborators. Norway offered little resistance in the 1940 invasion and pro-Nazi norwegians helped the Germans invade. The allies considered classifying Norway as a collaborator nation in WW2. That is just a fact.

That's because of the military forces were minimal, an Axis puppeteer government came into play when Germany took over Norway, they were trying to get neutrality in WWII, which didn't work for them, unlike Sweden, also most Norwegians couldn't stand up to the Germans and say, "fuck off!", because you would most likely get shot, most just hid soldiers in their attics in response.
Let the Norwegians be proud of their few moments of freedom they've spent most of their time doing what others say.

I disagree with the idea that Hitler didn't know about the concentration camps, but no matter what his involvement in them was, there was no way for any one person, even Hitler, to know 100% about every detail that was going on. There was massive execution of many innocent people.

The Norwegian interviewer was fair and decent when compared to what Irving is used to. Irving has written interesting books but his weakest argument is that somehow Hitler didn't know what was happening to the Jews. People won't be convinced that simply because no document exists, Hitler didn't know. It was all a big secret don't you see? I think Hitler knew what was happening to the Jews was similar to what was happening to the prisoners in the Soviet Gulag.
