ive been in one when i was 7 i live in mississippi and the town i lived in downtown took a direct hit and i remember the power going out and alot of wind real loud to next morning we had a tree laying in our yard
wwwwwwwwoooooooowwwwwww..... if you ever hear a freight train in the middle of a bad storm..... get the FUCK out of there!!!!!!!!! its a tornado... i hear one outside of my house once... in the mornin i found out it like two streets away from us
See how much more entertaining natural disasters become when sports announcers are allowed to describe them for us...Maybe one day they can come out to California and give us a little earthquake play-by-play.
Love how people see the roof moving and get up to leave....Where the hell are you going?? O.o I sure in the hell wouldn't be going outside....just saying lol
I wished I was there. I plan on being a meteorologist in the future so this was perfect for me. I remember this because this storm passed by my house in Woodstock.
@simaticable I wish you all the best in coming a meteorologist. Don't ya get such a thrill when you see one up close? although they can be destructive, they are amazing.
Omg! I thought that was the crowd making that noise at first! That must have been really scary. But what I want to know is... why didnt the people get warned before the tornado was over them? They should be glad that it wasnt worse than what it was!
lmao at announcer doing tornado play by play then at after 1:00 on the youtube video (the extended version) the announcer will show a instant replay of whats going on inside the dome and the rippling effect then about 15 seconds later in the video the tornado rips part of the dome off tossing hundreds up in the air while the announcer is saying whats going on play by play when the tornado tosses ppl up in the air and he shows the drawing and the instant replay then it goes to commercial, lmao
In all seriousness, I found out that if the game DIDN'T go into overtime, thousands of people would've been in the street with the tornado right on top of them. Whoever made the game-tying shot may have saved thousands of lives
I wonder what they did to repair the large hole in the roof before football season back in 08. Knowing Georgia all my life we probably got a shitload of duck tape and did a temp. fix. John Madden would've been hilarious to see at the game. " Well, you see here that the roof is shaking because of this invisible stuff called wind. Then, the roof tore and sucked out people from the upper deck called rednecks into a funnel of doom. You know, this never would've happened if Brett Favre were here!"
We had a suprise tornado in beaumont texas yesterday it was wack.
And to the person who said they would want to stay further south where hurricanes are ..Thats crazy. Living in Lake charles when Rita hit SUCKED shit was fucked up for weeks And in Texas when ike hit you should have seen houses in water up to the roof.
Atlanta with it's surprise Tornado's is not a place I'd want to live in, i'd rather live further down south where at least Hurricanes you can get 5-7 Day warnings.
Hurricanes can, and often do, spawn tornadoes when they hit land. We get tornadoes here in south Florida, in fact, we had a few tornado warnings (Including a waterspout just offshore) just yesterday, and are getting another round of storms today. We definitely need the rain at least, but fortunately the tornadoes that spawn here are generally weaker than the monsters back up in the Midwest.

thewhoissuperb24 points out an obvious fact - the tornado did not directly strike the Georgia dome.....
If it had, you wouldv'e seen the roof ripped off, debris and people being sucked up & thrown around, nd a hell of a lot of injuries & more than a few deaths.
The fact that they didn't warn people until it was already passing them is inexcusable. Yet another reason to never trust the idiots who're generally in charge.
well if u live in atlnta gdfsob the tornado did ripped threw the georgia dome .on the news it showed the ripp it was small on the news but it was very big in real life
Ipodfan, trust me - no matter how solidly the GD's built, if it had suffered a direct hit there would have been more damage than what here was, amd the roof would have been completely gone. Be lucky it wasn't a direct hit.

Had to laugh as the announcer describes how the ceiling appears to 'ripple'. How the announcer was able to draw a circle on the screen is too funny! A better use for that hand would have been to telephone a loved one or to cover his head. I wouldn't have given the play-by-play of the tornado. I would have placed the palm of my hand against the palm of my other hand and got down on my knees and prayed. Not spent the possible last minute of my life drawing circles. That announcer is dedicated!
