Both this take and the earlier LuPine recording of the song have, well, strong pluses. My own method of handling the happy situation is to play 'em back to back to back ad libitum. I have to admit that Diane's voice on this sounds marbly. Wonder how many takes were insisted upon, seeing as how Gordy ran Mary Wells thru over 20 on
no one seems to mention Diane and Flo wrote this song..while diane sings lead..goes to show you that Flo and Diane shared leads..but Diane did most of the leading even in the beginning before motown. Flo put the group together.
It was recorded because there was some thought at Motown at including it in an album at a later date, such as an anthology, but it was felt the Lupine version was too muddy in sound.l When the anthology finally came along, the Lupine version was used.
why didn't lupine just give the license of this song to motown so they didn't have to record it all over again i like the lupine verison way more better

You can clearly hear Flo, Mary & Barbara in the background, i kind of like this version better though

Wow - this is the unpolished "Supremes". It's obvious Gordy went a long way in utilizing the Motown resources to polish and refine their sound.

ow the motown version
when the primettes (supremes) left lupine and when to motown they re-recorded tears of sarrow
that's why it's called the motown version =D
it sounds much clearer but I prefer the LuPine version the backing on it is much clearer

So if they recorded this @ Motown, then is it jus Flo, Mary, & Diana or is Barbara with them?
suedemiddleton 2 years ago
barbera is on it too I think =D
i never listened that extremely to this version but it has to be shortly after they came to motown so barbera has to be on this too
