  • Questa la dedico a te Giulia Siolvetti!

  • The only way to hear Habanera. Voice of an angel.

  • maria callas is the best carmen!!! no one can sing it like her !!

  • @migueljaral

I agree with you that Callas was one of the greatest female Singers of all times, but did you ever listen to Anne Sofie von Otter singin La Habanera ?

  • All you have to do is put this on, sit down, and get ready, and Maria takes your hand on a trip to heaven.

  • I think she' s the best sing ever...

  • MARIA CALLAS TIENE UNA VOZ PRECIOSA. ME ENCANTA ESCUCHARLA.

  • Amazingly she never stared in a production of Carmen. only recordings and concerts performances.

  • She could many things, in various ranges....

  • LOL@ all the pseudo-intellectuals who find fault with her performance.

  • i.cant.live.without.her

  • heel mooi bedankt

  • she sung in this opera as a mezzo- soprano?

  • MARIA CALLAS I love ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS, she was an eminence in the opera

  • Altho I am not French it does not damper the wonderful air of this song. I love it!!!

  • What chorus is this? Terrible.

  • Terrible???? my god you dont understand nothing about music Chorus is adapted to the "fire" dinamic of Maria. You have t listen to with hearth

  • No wonder you post such comments, I took a quick look at your Favorites!

  • In any case I think is La scala chorus

  • @minnie888444 Chorus of the Paris Opera, and conducted by Georges Pretre.

  • I understand what you wrote in the information box, but this is sung so well. And so beautifully!

  • I agree with you completely. Maria was an excellent Carmen. She sings Habanera with such style. And to say that she turned to mezzo roles just because she couldn't sing anything else anymore is nothing else than mere nonsense! She always had a strong, developed and rich lower register, especially at the very beginning of her carrier! (This is meant for IlGruppoDiDocci, but I wanted to say that I agree with you.)

  • @corellithebest

    I absolutely agree.

  • @corellithebest I agree totally with you, she had such an amazing low register and huge chest voice, she was often told so and also she said it herself...and yes, her voice started this decay cycle (probably because of the extremely rough use she did of her voice) but I also agree with you in this aspect, she was still able to sing them

  • @corellithebest I know she recorded Carmen, but did she ever play it? Anyway, right you are, her lower-register is just luscious! Some sopranos have to struggle with the low notes (my second favorite after Callas is a good example: Edda Moser); some like Marilyn Horne with impeccable lower-register, tires out with the highs, Callas is just exquisite in every repertoire she handles!
