  • I just come across a Sunbeam RE-18B and an RE-18C twin blade 18" Sunbeam mowers from the 1950's era. one operates and the other is missing a "pulley"? one is green and one is red the one that runs and is whole is the red one..the cutest things..

  • I have one like this and I use it a lot.For small areas or small lawns it is the best. It cuts great, very easy to start and you can get into tight places with it. It's not heavy. I am always worried something will go wrong with it that won't be fixable. We very often don't get better stuff manufactured for us and I can't figure out why.

Let me guess ... you have the RE-18B, too?

  • I have exactly the same mower - found it in the garage of a house I bought 10 years ago. I turned it on once, but it was incredibly noisy. Probably needs oil and/or a tuneup.

  • This was our first power mower, Sunbeam twin blade, worked great for years (bought probably in the middle 1960s). Bearings for blade shafts wore out and made it horribly noisy but it still worked, sort of. Gave it to neighbor way back. Nice for our small yard, as well as for storage, lots smaller than "standard" electric mowers with full size deck and blade. No bagging option however with twin discharge chutes though.

  • how much is this thing worth this video is the only thing ive seen on it yet i have the same model that is in this video

I doubt if he wants to sell it... these are rare birds now. I have a 1983 Sears Craftsman twin-blade electric mower and have no intention to part with it due to its obscurity of parts.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X i wasnt asking if wanted to sell it, i wanted to know how much they are worth i have the same one

  • @hymen1847

For a real good looking one expect to pay a very high price because there just aren't many of these left.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X will i got one and i dont want it. if you interested its yours

  • @hymen1847

How old is yours? I have a 1983 Sears Craftsman deluxe model.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X its the exact same one in the video 1956 Sunbeam Twin-Blade Rotary Mower Model RE-18B

  • Looks like you could almost be vacuuming the grass.

  • we have the exact same mower... only it is red.. does anyone know where to find replacement blades for it?? If so will you share where? thank you

  • Replacement blades at abtecparts dotcom

  • @DoctrWatson

thank you... we appreciate the info.

  • The toggle switch for the motor is located in the top center of the mower handle. Black & Decker's first electric mowers, which employed twin-blade decks similar to this example, also had their motor switches located in the top center of the handle.

I have two things to say about this video:

1 - What is with the "60-cycle hum" that occurs just before you turn the mower on?

2 - You nearly ran over the power cord at the 1:20 - 1:25 mark.
