I wouldn't call Rush the "leader" of the party per se, just the public face of the party. The puppet masters are rarely ever quite as public as Rush. Also, don't go counting Rove out yet. Give him enough time, a "coachable candidate" (Romney) and a failing country, and he could be dangerous once again.

This party is just imploding before our very eyes. Limpbaugh is definitely the GOP leader of the party. The people who follow this unpatriotic talkshow host are the same percentage of people that think George Bush did an outstanding job as President, about 22% of Americans. This is not enough to ever win an election again. Word of advice, stop listening and taking orders from Limpbaugh, and start formulating an opinion of your own, one that is intelligent, rational, and reasoned.

Leesagrrl, Rove's crooked scheming has fortunatley been exposed, & I wouldn't be too concerned w/ him anymore. The disease is this Limpbaugh mindset that seems to be permeating throughout the GOP party. Until more Republicans learn to develop their own mindset and abandon this right-wing conservative mentality, which has been rejected by a majority of Americans, they will always lose elections & continue to lose more voters. They're afraid of upsetting their base. In my view, this is a mistake.

I think history is almost on your side. But that's what people thought just before RayGun became the "leader" du jour. Carter was way ahead in the polls till just weeks before the election.

But the Liberals dropped the ball for quite a while, and we let a conservative Moderate (Billy) "lead" the way for 8 years.

I think that was a big mistake... certainly not as bad as Bush for his 8, but Bill still did some serious destruction to the Country.
