For those who don't really know balado let me tell you guys that this kind of end of fight was really very unusual in his carreer....he wasnt a hard puncher, actually he was a very ,very fast heavyweigh and based his victories on his fast moves and great defence...one of the best that i ever seen in my live...
Balado could hit harder than people thought. When he planted his feet and let those fast hands fly, he could bang. RIP Senor Balado, you were one of the best.
Don't know how Balado did it but he gave a beating to every heavyweight in that division in Cuba, BIG BIG guys with strong punching power, Balado eating them all with incredible speed for this division and great boxing.
R.I.P. Roberto Balado, incredible fighter, beat down Maskaev in the amatuer ranks...something Vitali Klitschko couldn't do. Kudo's to the great Cuban, this coming from a American.
He died in an accident, he was going to train early in the morning and he didn't see that the train was coming while he was crossing the tracks. He died because of the event.
cuban boxers are supposed to be prof'l great fighters bt many of them never get into professional boxing. Who is that cuban boxer who always win gold in the olympics? Was he Felix Savon? that man is great.
yes you are right, but he could have defected to another country, look at Gamboa, Solis, Barthelemy and many others, cuban boxers are PRO it's a shame that they have to defect to being pro, i hate Fidel and the cuban government!
Balado was the best amator heavy after Teofilo Stevenson.

I guess the referee never heard of this thing called an 8 count.
comedicstuff 1 year ago
At least give the guy a chance to get up and possibly recover. Give him the 8 count and if he still can't continue, THEN stop it!

im always surprised at how maskaev went so far, with such an ugly technique and a really bad chin

Maskaev has a horrible chin. It is too bad that more of these Cubans don't turn pro. They rock!!!!
JoshLucas5 2 years ago 8
@JoshLucas5 I don't understand how this Chin stuff works? This Maskaev has a MASSIVE JAW how can he have such a easy knock out?
fuitbag 5 months ago
@fuitbag "Glass jaw" doesn't have anything to do with the makeup of his actual jaw. It means he is unable to recover from a punch.
