  • like a jhs commercial UGH

  • i like how the guitar tech knows nothing about the gear.

  • may seem like a strange question but what kind of shoe is he wearing? looks awesome

  • Woah... I just noticed that I'm in one of the ending footage parts at the end... Sweet...

  • Whether you like Switchfoot or not you cant deny the great guitar tones they use all thanks to Mr Shirley here

  • "remember when we set it on fire?" haha freaken hilarious

  • Where can you get one of those chaos pads?

  • @zck6505 Korg sells a ton of'em ;)

  • @iwishiwasjonforeman Jon doesn't really play any instruments. he's our singer!

  • @missrenee1 yah he does, have you seen him in any live videos?

  • @missrenee1 youre kidding right? Jon writes the songs. ON his guitar... he plays more guitars on one tour than Drew! Acoustic electrics and solid bodies. For at least half a concert youll see him playing an instrument whether it be guitar, harmonica, piano or the mandolin. The only one who plays more instruments than Jon is Romey! But than who DOES play more instruments than Romey??

  • suck ass

  • i met drew when i saw probably about 7 years old, before he was in switchfoot, in a bad called all together separate

  • as a general rule I prefer large piles of coke>

  • @seicheberlin maybe you dont listen to the lryics, but a main reason i listen to switchfoot is because of that, their lyrics are not what you like to call "american teeny rock." Also try listening to "mess of me" or "The Sound" and listen to Jon Foreman's (lead vocals) and Tim Foreman's (backing vocals) voice and vocal range. It is very, very impressive for an "american teeny rock" band. so i agree with @kirbypufball, you just sound ignorant and dumb. Have a good day.

  • @MrClemsonlax yeah maybe I'm just too old for this kind of music

but nonetheless you should check out the bands i named. Cheers.

  • hahaha i didn't know this band, but after seeing the tour i totally expected this kick ass rock band. but then this totally gay song comes on at the end WTF.

  • @seicheberlin check out "Meant to Live", "Stars", "The Sound", "Dirty Second Hands", "Politicians", "Lonely Nation", "Ammunition", "Circles", or anything else they do. if you're still not impressed, go jerk off to Limp Bizkit

    the defense rests.

  • @41224jason i tried listening to the first four songs, the intro to "The Sound" was okish. the rest is just typical american teeny rock, just what most teenagers in the US listen to, not a real reason to like that predictable stuff, sorry. And WTF Limp Bizkit man, are you 12? Make that BRMC, or The Black Keys, or The Kills, etc. There is so much actually good music out there. Have a good day.

  • @seicheberlin you might have been trying to sound nice, but that came off very rude, dumb, and ignorant. Have a good day.

  • @41224jason

Holy cow... you just ripped that dude... NICE.

  • @41224jason Screw that, listen to "On Fire" or "Learning to Breathe" for beautiful stuff.

  • @seicheberlin Thats one of their softer rock songs, they play hard rock sometimes and lighter live

  • @seicheberlin Go away! None of Switchfoot's songs are "gay". Every single one ever written by them is amazing!

  • apparently he likes it when amps explode... he mentions that at least 8 times. I love him.

  • I love how he's just smacking everything haha

  • Does drew go Line out of the back of his amps to the board or mic them into the system?

  • @AustinGraggmusician he mics them. you don't get tube sound when you line out of amps

  • I really like last switchfoot album! more fuzzy and intresting!

  • painted by someone I love :)

  • what's that first guitar??? it's so cool, but i can't catch what he says.

  • @theorthianguy gibson les paul jr. double cut

  • Why do I hear so many questions on here?

First off, I assume your watching this because your a switchfoot fan, so stop asking "what song is that" questions like that!

The song in this video is The Sound by switchfoot. Off their album Hello Hurricane.

This is the ONLY album that they have used this stuff on, so it should be pretty obvious.

Secondly, just go check out JHS pedals instead of waiting for people to answer your questions on here.

Great band, great men, I've seen switchfoot a few ti

  • he seems so chill i just wanna jam with him lool

  • those pedals were painted by his daughter :D hope i'm boss enough one day to have pedals painted by my kid

  • Never really listened to Switchfoot, but Drew seems like a bro's bro.

  • @MrShizzleism Go listen to Switchfoot; they are amazing!

  • @MrShizzleism Give Switchfoot a listen, they're great!

  • 5 dislikes? Really?

  • lol, "remember when we set it on fire?" lol they crack me up

  • You just turn it up... sounds like its going to explode. My kind of amp!

  • Is his main guitar a '73 tele? cause ive been searchin a while and the closest tele i found was a '72 tele.

  • wow his gear is very different from most others out there

  • It's got an explosive quality to it! :D

  • OMG IT'S BEAUTIFUL :,)

  • I need more money to get all this shit :(

  • LMAO my digital board has more amps than th head he was using :P I love drew, cool guy, got to meet him once :D

  • @AustinGraggmusician I think you mean watts? With tube amps, low wattage can give you an amazing sound.

  • @thetyleranasaurus yeah meant watts, and yes i know this, i just find it funny, love drew, hes a cool guy

  • what is the song at the beginning?

  • @Hazpon The sound

  • @Hazpon The Sound

  • explosive amps! i want one.

  • Drew used to use a Fender 62 Jazzmaster-not a jaguar. He had it in olympic white with a brown tortoise shell pickguard. I just bought a Jazzmaster in 3-Tone Sunburst-I ended up getting the one that Matt Hoopes (the old guitar player for relient k) uses. Its a great guitar. Drew stopped taking that one out and replaced it with his tele

  • @MrMorrris he did it prob to mute the hiss from all the gain pedals before hand

  • looks like a sweet rig. And Drew always sounds awesome, he adds a lot with cool effects and such

  • Looks like this was shot on a Canon 5d or 7D, looks great..

  • he loves his pedals haha. especially touching them. their last album was great.

  • lol, "remember when we set it on fire?"

  • intro song?

  • @Teutonic1250 The Sound by Switchfoot off their new album 'Hello Hurricane'

  • @Teutonic1250 "the sound"

  • he knows more then his tech

  • @RT101894 and that's the way it should be ;) just wish it was the case more often.

  • @41224jason Yeah, tell me about it. I'm surprised by how much i teach the sound guy at various gigs. I hate when the guitarist or who ever it may be, completely relies on their tech...the only thing that i see in that situation is laziness and no passion.

  • i thought drew also uses a jaguar from fender o.o the white 1 with a red sort of pickguard

  • @outbook Yeah, he does. I love that guitar; I hope to own one like that someday.

  • @outbook Whoops! I said you were correct in that Drew also uses a Fender Jaguar. It's not a Jaguar; it's a Jazzmaster.

  • @iwishiwasjonforeman ohh didnt know that lol

  • @iwishiwasjonforeman Its an Elliot Tonemaster

  • @rjensen264 Yeah, looking at pictures of Jazzmasters, I always thought that they look slightly different from Drew's guitar, but I thought that that's just because his is a customized version or something. When Switchfoot took over Hurley's Facebook page, is when I found out that it's an Elliot Tonemaster. Even then, though, the pictures I can find of Tonemasters online still look different - the sides of the body in particular. But whatever; at least we know what make and model it is.

  • @iwishiwasjonforeman Thats funny haha, thats actually where i found out this information, but yah, I always assumed he just had a Fender Jaguar because it looks really similar to the Elliot Tonemaster, but i haven't heard of Elliot before the interview thing. Its really cool trying to figure which guitars they use especially when they are different than when you expect. Now because of Jon, i really want a Gretsch BST-1000 or the PRS Starla, both look and sound awesome.

  • @rjensen264 Yeah, they are both really cool. I really want the PRS Starla Stoptail instead of the regular Starla because I think the Bigsby looks ugly - besides, Jon has a Stoptail. The only problem is that it's way out of my price range. I only have an acoustic guitar, but I really want to get an eletric. My budget is around $500-$600 on the high side, maybe $700-$800 if I saved up for a long time, but the Starla costs around $1,500. Maybe someday I'll get one. The Gr... (to be continued)

  • @rjensen264 (continued) ...etsch BST 1000 is also pretty cool, but I think the Starla is a lot better looking and sounding. The one factor that the "Beast" has over the Starla is that it's a true antique - it's no longer made, unlike antiques of, say, Stratocasters or Les Pauls. Anyway, I think Switchfoot's guitars are really awesome - as well as basses, drums, keyboards, pianos, amps, etc! They pick out amazing instruments! Switchfoot is the best!

  • @iwishiwasjonforeman I especially like the pickguard on both the "Beast" and the Starla

  • @rjensen264 The Starla's pickguard and body design are just sick. Heck, the whole guitar is simply beautiful. I also think the PRS signature bird fret inlays are amazing on PRS guitar, but especially on the Starla. But I imagine the bird inlays are more expensive, so if I ever end up getting a Starla (Stoptail), I might not get the birds. Anyway, Jon's starla just has the dot inlays, not the birds. I must also add that the electric tape that spells "Vice Verses" on the... (to be continued)

  • @rjensen264 (continued) ... body that spells "Vice Verses" and on the that makes the Switchfoot logo on the headstock is stunning as well. Another point to make is that I can't find any white Starla Stoptails with black pickguards (like Jon's guitar) online. I haven't looked at any music stores yet, but I'm worried that Jon's is a special Starla that isn't commercially available. If I can't get it in white, I think I'll get it in vintage cherry or mahogany. That is, when I can afford it!

  • @iwishiwasjonforeman I actually looked on Ebay, and they do have Jon's white starla, but its actually a Starla X, but for me, if i was given the chance to either have a PRS Starla or a Gretsch BST-1000, I think I would rather take the BST, i just REALLY like the sound of vintage guitars. I actually saw one in person and if I could ever find one for the right price i would totally take it. But dont get me wrong, the Starla is AMAZING as well.

  • @rjensen264 I thought that his was a Starla Stoptail. But whatever. I think that the Starla is better than the BST 1000, and you think the opposite. We are both entitled to our own opinions.

  • @rjensen264 I bought a BST-1000 off craigslist. A pretty gnarly sounding guitar. Because the pickups are not wax coated (Jon screaming into them) they kind of sound old and crunchy. The guitar was actually signed by Jon.

  • @barronvonripper Really????????? Was it Jon's actual BST?!?

  • @iwishiwasjonforeman I really like Jon's taste in guitars. I also really like Drew's.

  • @rjensen264 Me, too! Like I said, the whole band chooses amazing instruments.

  • haha drew looks like a sloth

  • @iCantPlayScales No kidding.

  • @iCantPlayScales you're a moron.

  • @iCantPlayScales dude, they're not punk! haha

  • @iCantPlayScales Get out of here! Seriously, just leave.

  • he likes turning knobs.

  • ahhh hes so awsome!

where do people learn how to use and understand these things?

  • @BabyMan39 research

  • @BabyMan39 i was thinking the same thing, i've been playing acoustic for a year and a half and i got my first electric back in may, watching this has made me realise i've got A LOT to learn lol

  • @BabyMan39 Good question. I'd like to learn all that myself, but I have no idea where to start.

  • these guys sound amazing live nothing cleaner drew looks like he should be n weezer tho lol another fav band of mine

  • @MrMorrris someone with a successful band.

  • this guy really loves his boost pedals.

  • awesome video quality, look like a movie

  • Drew, I love you, but I don't understand anything you just said!

  • @candysuew I only get it minimally!

  • I once owned a tone bender maybe 25 years ago...wish I had it today.

I picked it up at a music store back in the day. It was inside a box filled with all kinds of used pedals. $15.00 for it and it worked flawlessly.

  • good finally some christian guitar players

  • they should do a gear thing for the rest of the guys (except jon, of course)!

  • @missrenee1 Why not Jon?

  • youtube has been around for five years, you'd think people would learn that videos take time to process.

  • what band is this?

  • @eukicos Switchfoot.

  • @eukicos It's Switchfoot. It says it in the title!

  • Make this vid makes it hard to play Snake over it.

  • He looks like a guy who probably got beat up in high school alot...

  • He looks like he still dresses like he did in highschool, which looks weird since his face looks like someone's dad.
