Not only she's great, the band is stunning. Rob Ellis is one of the best rock drummers ever, arguably the best in his generation, and the only one for Polly's songs with their complex inner rhythmic structures. Together they ROCK!

why the crowd isn't throwing themselves and hurling themselves all at each other - I do not know!!!???!!! they remind me of seattle crowds.... just standing there even at punk shows.
PJ is the QUEEN of all creation!!! Thanks for posting.
Agree with BossGuitars, love this trio (Ellis is fantastic). Just saw her and Parish live and liked it of course, but really wanted to hear the band unleash on a few of her earlier classics. Anyway, thanks for posting this video!
This is the version of the PJ and the band that I miss. Just plain powerful and in your face. Oh, it's a Gretsch she's playing here. She used this guitar a lot for the first few albums and tours.
she's a poet, a mucisian, she wrotes her songs, her songs are wonderful...what else can I ask from one person? If the word star has a meaning she diserves it then!
it's hard to think i was 7 years old when PJ was doing her stuff already, I honestly think there is no other contemporary musician that is anywhere near her, even bjork. Just my opinion though.
the simplistic beats on tbyml are the best ones. they add a strange touch to her vocals.
rob ellis always tried to add too much in and often his drum patterns sound confused and directionless.
plus he sounds way too heavy metal. and the drums, particularly on rid of me are too overbearing, but that's not rob;s fault. that'd be the producer's fault.
Robs drumming on Dry is amazing. It's great to hear someone playing the drums as an instrument rather than regurgitating the same old beats we've been hearing for years and years. I don't know what you mean by "Heavy Metal". His style is anything but. Fair play if you don't like it but he is far from a "shit drummer".

he's a fucking shit drummer. he had no rhythm and just seemed bash them as hard as he could, often ruining her vocals.
louiecostello 3 years ago
Absolute garbage, Ellis is/ was the best drummer Polly has ever had. Just listen to the originality and invention of his drumming on Rid of Me.
barcelona36 3 years ago 6
no way hosey. (that is your name, right?)
the simplistic beats on tbyml are the best ones. they add a strange touch to her vocals.
rob ellis always tried to add too much in and often his drum patterns sound confused and directionless.
plus he sounds way too heavy metal. and the drums, particularly on rid of me are too overbearing, but that's not rob;s fault. that'd be the producer's fault.

he lacks rhythm, as do so many drummers these days. he's a wannabe dave grohl haha
