If you're doing your job (not just paying child support) then more power to you. @shieldsff I understand your point as well. None of us were born into equality but i'm a black man myself and yet I made it! I didn't let racism stop me from doing what I needed to do in getting and education and starting my career. Half of the problem now days is that we don't try as hard. I see some brothers living with sistas on section 8 and going out "hustling" disrespecting other black folks. Opportunities we have now are far greater than back then when black folks found ways to made it.

I teach let them know what type of racism that goes on in the world and that lazyness will get you no where. Some of the kids I have are smart but their mother (because the fathers are rarely found) have them as special ed kids to get assistance.

It upsets me when I see my people come up to a school because their childs PSP was taken up, rather then them failing a grade. Or when I work in a prodominately hispanic school and most of the kids on the disposition list are black kids. The #1 problem in the black community is the lack of a positive black male figure that we USE to have.

More than half of them still found themselves in trouble after the incident. Braging with money in their mouth. There was even monies for those young men to go on to school and do better. How does having the highest rate of absentee parenting thus correlate with being more likely to sustain contact with children? LOL talk about a contradiction!! You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. If they sustain contact with their children at a HIGHER rate than other groups that means those other groups sustain contact at a LOWER rate (thus they are absent or less involved fathers).

"Absentee parenting" means not being present as parent in the home.
Black men have the highest rate of incarceration in the US of all racial groups at nearly 15%.
This would account for a large percentage of the "black fathers not living at home" you cite in your original claim.
As a result, these incarcerated men "suddenly" find the time to write their children, receive mail, phone calls, and visits.
