Please correct me if I'm wrong. But here's my dutch point of view: Legalising the use and distribution of Marijuana would also increase it's overall quality and the control of its use, because of the barriers and risks involved in illegal distribution of Marijuana.
I believe it should be fine to use it yourself, but what's wrong is the people who profit off the destruction of someone's life. Also the people who do drugs, not necessarily pot, that end up hurting someone else. It needs to be illegal to some extent because what if someone drove under the influence and killed a family? Things like that. You need to cover for the things that go wrong. Plus pot causes many health problems for habitual users who are the main targets.
well then, why not make alcohol illegal, tobacco illegal, and cell phones illegal, and books illegal, because more people get killed in accidents using those things than people who are smoking pot - pot smokers dont want to move, it makes them lazy and just sit there, they aren't that big of a road hazard.
Because that's you being a smart arse trying to prove a point that is clearly unreasonable. I was just providing a different perspective because if everyone says the same thing then its boring and doesn't encourage challenging others opinions. I don't do drugs, I wouldn't know the effects, because I know what it can do to people. I've seen it aid the development schizophrenia. I don't believe in live for today coz thats how most people wind up dead.
Actually there's a much, much greater risk of you having a alcohol psychosis (which can lead to death) than you having a marijuana psychosis (which is only rarely chronic).
You could argue there is a higher chance of you suffering from social phobia and depression (and symptoms of them, like memory loss and amotivation syndrome), but that's only casual evidence and occurs in any activity related to social stigmatas.
They instated the law on the "fact" it'd cause black men to rape whites...
I wouldn't go as far as saying Marijuana is a way to destroy your life. Fairly harsh statement. In the cases of it being a steppingstone towards other drugs, namely hard drugs, it is nearly always the person in question's state of mind which causes them to seek out more 'potent' substances. Same for alcohol.
On the driving part. Studies conducted in the Netherlands in 2001 showed most people under the influence of Marijuana drove slower, and much more careful. Making it safer than alcohol.
Cops and judges are involved so I don't see where the rational thinkers come into play. Religious zealots come into it all the time these fuckers don't even know what their talking about but they still rant. Good to have people like Allison Margolin with the "balls" to stand up for us. Thank you and god bless Allison!!!
well im not saying religions didn't play a roll in keeping marijuana illegal. but there are religions out there where sniffing this substance way stronger then LSD is a ritual, and somewhere in Nepal every year they have a religiuos ritual where all day long the smoking marijuana to get closer to god and there spiritual side. and yeah it's the government, i really don't know why they keep marijuana illegal, so much more money could be gained instead of spending money to jail potheads
I fully agree it still being illegal is simply pointless. The smoking of Marijuana is accepted in many societies, in all ranks of the population. It could be a resource of tax income for the government and might steer people clear of choosing to use hard drugs, as now the line between them is very thin since there is very little legal distinction between them.
Needless to say it is far safer than hard drugs, and in the case of driving, alcohol.
The point is the laws are unconstitutional. They are based on outdated information and false testimony. There have been countless lab tests to try and prove the cons of marijuana and none have been found in the area of inc use for the same fix, organizational issues such and so forth. The only found evidence is for those under 18 who use it while their brain are developing... In that case it effects brain development.
all of her points can be also applied to any other drug use like cocaine and heroine

still, Christians, Mormons, Jehovah, Catholics, whether manipulated by propaganda still play a large role in oppressing progress on this issue.

Very true. It's one of - if not 'the' - reason few politicians dare go there.
