Maybe what I mean is, being terrified of transitioning again because of the lack of support, the lack of friends who know and who understand... I mean in your day-to-day life, not just on social online networks but, in your local life... Does that make sense?
What advice do you have for a woman who was born completely identifying as a girl, but in a male body- raised in a male social role in a very conservative home, but who has tried to transition and her life completely fell apart and now she's terrified of trying to transition again because of all the horrid crap that happened before? I know that sounds easy to answer but, please try to imagine almost dying and your spouse leaving you and your family completely disowned you.
I like that you have that approach to that. I think the only thing that really isn't quite there is the fact that when it comes to job applications online (though it gets better) or when it comes to children, people are like, no, you can't be both or neither, you have to choose one. I wanted to adopt, but adopting as a single parent, they would want me to choose being a male or a female, and that just bites. "Let 'em have a box party!" I always love your videos!! Rock on.
Lori I love your videos, but just want to say that gender=man/woman, sex=male/female. Sex is biological, while gender is socially constructed. I know I'm female, but don't consider myself a woman (or a man) b/c I don't fit (nor do I want to fit) what society says a woman is or should be. I get called sir, or young man, b/c I have short hair, but I know I'm female and I'm not ashamed of my body or anything, I esp love my femaleness in bed. And my gf is is in dental school and is my dentist.
It was a joke. but i am the going to be the doctor in the family and it's unethical by the time am a doctor my sisters will be adults and i could treat all of them the likelyhood of it on the other hand now that's a different story and why do you care?
Great vid Lori! :) I reallly liked how u wanted to be informative about this topic. I agreed w/ u on everything u said, ppl do need to be more open minded about how others view them, b/c ppl already have some type of label that they r used 2 using. It just makes it easier for them to identify others. If we want others 2 supporst us, then we can't push it either. I'm realizing that it does help, b/c my sisters r able 2ask me questions, it makes it so much easier 2have a conversation w/ them. ftw!
Does identifying with certain gender mean that someone might be more attracted to a girl that is opposite that identification, or are they interested in whoever they are interested in?
I'm assuming its the later, people are attracted to whoever they are attracted too...but everyone IS different and everyone has different tastes.
Lori, I know you might be feeling rather lonely since your adorable girlfriend isnt with you this weekbut I hope our warm smiling faces are good enough to make you smile. This baby beavers loves you =) I hope this comment makes your Tuesday, because you always make my Tuesdays super special :]
Lori! I totally loved your video. It was super informative and it clearly is apparent you come from an experienced backgroound--and you have a respect level and understanding about your topic. I Love watching you every tuesday, and keep up the awesome vids! I am on a collab called TheClosetCollab --go check it out!
i myself dont feel like none either so when i made my facebook account i didn especify in gender
then afterwards a little box came saying "when you update your profile should we call you : he she" i just ignored it but like later on in the day another box came in saying "We are going to start putting "THEY""
it said something like that i just thot it was kinda funny to say
Thank you. What you said is so true and reassuring to me. And i love hearing the reinforcement of what I believe, in what your saying... It holds me to my standard of what my pillar is...
I agree, It shouldn't matter what other people perceive you as. I personally don't associate myself with being super fem.. But I have my moments =). There are those days ya know, We All have our "Moments". Butch/Fem .. Regardless of how we dress or act, It really is about what we feel in our hearts. Great Video !! <3 <3
I was sitting here trying to think of a topic for my last Sociology paper of the quarter when I decided to see if you had uploaded a video yet.
Not only had you uploaded one, but halfway through listening to you, I finally had an epiphany on what I want to write about. Yay!! Haha thanks for the inspiration. :)
