great show. I just dont like the last hour after they arrived at their final destination. I would have gone in another direction entirely to allow for a more open ended universe (rather than a "closed loop"). If I re-watch it I just wont watch the last hour - ill imagine the rest on my own etc.
Babylon 5 is the best scifi show.the remake of Battlestar Galactica was essentially a universe where there are no aliens. As if this vast universe is all for us.kind of egotistic & xenophobe view.another problem the Human Cylons were not androids but freaking clones of people genetically enhance by bio-implants.from the first episode I knew they were going to arrive on earth but as it happen the earth of the past.as in the original they arrive to present day Earth 1980.I prefer Galactica 1980
Wow, I clicked on this video, because I like the special effects on Battlestar Galactica, and what do I get? This windbag jabbering on and on about what he thinks. Who cares what he thinks? Geez...........shut up.
BSG is better than stargate or anything like that. It's political, it's drama, it's comedy, it's a great comment for humanity's mistakes which happen all the time AGAIN AND AGAIN.
That isn't BSG, it's GINO: Galactica In Name Only. It was boring and depressing. Thankfully Glen A Larson and Bryan Singer are bringing the real Galactica back to the big screen.
If you like BSG with the idea of religious robots you are not a SF fan. Good SF works at least with believable ideas. But robots or clones who develop religion are unbelievable because they are a product of science. Religion derives from the lack of scientific knowledge of the world in ancient times. It would have been better if the conflict was about the abuse of the cylons from humans or different ways of thinking or culture (they are robots!! even if they look human).
Science fiction only works when its story driven or character driven. The recent BSG had both. Star Trek when it had good characters worked. Voyager was all technobabble put me to sleep.
I wasn't putting BSG down, but it was less Sci Fi ish than most of the genre, more drama and character driven. For example, aside from the FTL drive, the ships seemed pretty conventional almost average. There were no exotic aliens, force fields, warps, transporters, time travel, mind control or even ray guns, they were using regular weapons chemically propelled projectiles and missiles.
I was never a big Voyager or DS9 fan, but they just became too formula. DS 9 was all that noir crap, with that psycho Bejoran bitch way too out of hand for any Star Trek character, including Worf or the double agent Cardassian tailor. Enterprise degenerated into cheezy PC action crap, like fighting Nazis or anti-immigration racists or dreck like that.
SG-A had no life anymore. It was boring as after the first two seasons. SG-1 could've gone trough. BSG was my new Sci-Fi series (I started watching it three months ago).
It was new and refreshing, very different form what we already had.
Thank you for a very positive video, positive message. I use BSG Miniseries in my Compostion and Wrtiing Across the Curriculum courses. It's damn good for Film Review. The only time I see someone have a negative response to BSG is when they don't pay the mini any real mind. Some folks don't know how to analysze the human condition through bsg. That is what it was all about. I've really enjoyed the start to Caprica.
I've seen 4 of your videos now, and you've gotta be one of the coolest queers I've had the join of "eMeeting" lol. (and I mean queer in the most non-derogatory way possible)
You are the epitome of the type of person I mentioned in an earlier comment. You're just a person who HAPPENS to be gay, and you don't let the community define who you are. Big thumbs up! Consider yourself subscribed.
You're quite welcome, and I'm glad you took it the right way, (as it was meant in kindness). Too many people are so damn uptight, and I'm glad you took what was said as it was meant.
Honestly, who'd watch a show that spends all it's budget on special effects? Bad casting and writing = no viewers. Look at what's happened to Daytime Dramas. The writing's been destroyed across the nets over the years and the genres dying.
@mrd16140 well galactica brought new stuff and it was awsome but the final episodes were a total bullshit... god?? religion? hmm come on science- fiction anyone?
@Drizzit719 then you don't pay attention to the fact that puting religion as a human behavioral pattern is one thing, I agree with that. But what the moron screenwriters did is making a statement about angels, god, existing... Is the easiest, brainless, lazyest method to explain a god Sci-fi. Total failure in the end... Now you get it?
@dumbnetworks then you did not pay attention to the MYTHOLOGY to the series. Do not tel me I did not pay attention to the series for I OWN the series, down ever last frakking mini movies they made. If the god was such a moron, explain to me how in the frak did he write such an amazing series? If you had watched the series from starty to finish, which is not likely, there is more than one mention of this. Do not criticize one part when it was shown throughout the series. And if you had watched...
@dumbnetworks the whole series, you would have noticed then where there were contradictions on both sides. From Atheist views to highly religious views and legends and faith. From the most unlikely things happening, miracles. One small scene does not it make the "laziest" after a whole series of explaining. It was more for the idiots who could not figure it out since the beginning. They did not say god does EXIST, they gave the agnostic view that is a possible higher power with a scifi type show
2. "They did not say god does EXIST" At the end "imaginary caprica" and imaginary baltar were ANGELS and talked about GOD!
3. "most unlikely things happening" - and? thats what writers do, most unlikely things makes you wonder about what comes next.
4. "From Atheist views to highly religious views" - what views? Movies are not public debates, movies are made up by writers, that have already some kind of well developped adult way of thinking.
@dumbnetworks I know what agnostic mean, dumbshit, it means you do not believe in a god, but do believe in the possibility of a higher power. The imaginary baltar was a one or two time deal. And if you watched Season three, Number Six Caprica said that cylons can project images from them. So of course she is going to see Baltar. And as I see you have forgotten, they were in love.
@dumbnetworks Anyways, you are taking all of this way too literally, the whole damn series had a little bit of everything in it. And it is not like the directors is saying outside of the show, to their audience, "BELIEVE IN GOD OR ELSE" They made the show opens peoples eyes and actually think, but not take it literally.
@Drizzit719 I agree the show had a little bit of everything in it, and I loved every minute of it!!! BUT I didn't like how things were "resolved" in the end thats all, I told you why above.
cool, nice review from an intelligent and well informed fan, top stuff. The type of bloke I'd happily spent a few hours with discussing the finer points of BSG with on a cloudy afternoon. Ty
My absolute favorite scifi show was/is Farscape (hence the screen name haha). I really liked BSG all the way through till the last hour of the finale. *sigh*
the last episode was awesome. and the the whole series was overall great. The last few min on earth was like a long big Claritin commercial. The sky was very blue and the shrubs were bright and green. pretty. lol But seriously great series! A new standard that set the bar for all shows.. ended just right.
OMG I just watched the last epi. I was blown away by how well it was done and the irony of how it could have happened in real life. This was the best season finale I've ever seen. They rapped up every storyline with dignity. Question, was Carra Thrase and angel after she saw she was dead?
Well some believe she was the same as the Baltar and Caprica 6 daydreams.. only a LOT of people could see her.. the forums over on Sci Fi people are saying that the finale offered as many questions as answers.. I guess we will just have to imagine what she really was.. a mass illusion or someone sent from God? Who knows LOL it was a great finale though
actually what ive realised seeings as her father is daniel, like Hera she wasn't allowed to die because of her destiny so when she did she was re spawned as an angel to for fill her destiny then she could die in piece
I believe, not absolutely sure, that Ron Moore verified that her father wasnt Daniel.. in an interview he said that in fact it was just her father.. I will try to post the link to that interview in the info box.. :)
It really was. I'm so galsd they spent so much time on the ending as they did the whole show. They rounded out the characters. I'll be watching it over and over again.
I don't know why i stopped following this series, just started catching up this past week and man I fell back in love with it... near the end... :( And i loved the Original in all its cheezyness. OH! and the reason why they're ending it is cause the Original had and end and thus giving this one an end.
I felt the same way about Star Trek Enterprise. I was willing to give it a chance, but it took a while to really *launch*. The Xindi war went on WAY too farking long (three seasons? For a new race?), and they went the wrong direction in time, but the action and most of the characters were really good (I liked Dr. Phlox, but I wondered "why an alien doctor so early in history?").
The original BG should have lasted longer. Dunno if we were ready for it.
I am actually just now really getting into Star Trek and I feel really funny cuz I am so far behind.. but I am loving catching up with all the shows.. right now.. I know many dont feel the same way but my fave show is Voyager.. I just like the direction of that show.. :D
I like VOY up to the point where 7 of 9 comes in. I call her Barbie of Borg; someone I used to know calls her 36 of D. Her two functions are to model the catsuit and piss off Captain Janeway. Oh, and, did you notice that *every* cure the EMH comes up with has nanoprobes in it?
Kes is more curious, friendly, and helpful :)
The best written series IMHO is DS9- I think Kira and Jadzia are two of the strongest Trek characters. :)
LOL thats pretty funny. I actually didnt like Kes that much until close to her departure from the series. Seven is one of my favorite characters on that show, if not my favorite. DS9 I didnt get to see much of and honestly to me it didnt really feel like a Star Trek show until after a couple of seasons.. but thats just my opinion, again I am new to the franchise but I have been doing quite a bit of research. LOL
Tell me something. Would you be interested in some stuff about Klingons? I've done my fair bit o' research and would be glad to slap a few things together for shpits n giggles (once I'm over this rassenfrassen bug of course). :)
(1) There are no "hello" or "goodbye" in Klingon. Standard greeting is "What do YOU want?", and standard exit is to walk away. Also, "please", "thank you" and "excuse me" don't exist. They waste time.
(2) The best way to get a Klingon to do something he resists doing is to tell him he is afraid to do it. He will do it just to save honor.
(3) A usually non-violent bar game is Curse Warfare. Everybody in the bar takes turns insulting eachother. Best : Your mother has a smooth forehead.
OMG my cat beat me to it! :) Actually I forgot I was still logged in on her account-- but the info is right. :)
Least useful insult for Curse Warfare: "Your mother wears army boots". (Klingons don't limit their armed forces to one gender-- there is no weaker sex for them. )
(4) Since Klingons believe in a challenge, an armed Klingon will always make sure you are armed before he attacks you, even if he has to give you a weapon (there are *no* unarmed Klingons). :)
LOL thanks Henrik thats all great stuff.. this thurs I am excited there is a marathon of Enterprise on Sci Fi channel.. I will try to catch up and see if theyre any episodes I missed!
My problem w/Voyager was: why did they make Chakotay and 7 an item? I always felt it was better being him and Janeway. Holo dock clearly had romantic interests in 7.
I think there's a whole layer of Cylons we haven't seen yet. The Sci-Fi channel is run by fools, they cancelled Farscape in mid-storyline, the producers of BSG probably wrapped up the series because they know the network execs have no patience.
Still no ideas? I was sort of waiting to see what you had in mind...I'm all wrapped up an existing project that I started a long time ago. But, I love to take day trips! I started to form one idea a few weeks back. But, alas it died a horrible death.
well I want to do the contest thing right.. and taking my time doing the video.. it will be a lot of fun I swear.. and youre waiting for me.. oh you want me to make the first move.. LOL ok.. I will start tossing around some ideas here and send you what I have :)
What? Atlantis is cancelled????? I love that show. Is their going to be any more epi's. I also am hooked on Battlestar and looking forward to fri. night. Now you say there's going to be a show called Caprica? I hadn't heard about that. Good news and sounds awesome
Hey Joy! Ya they canceled Atlantis but they are starting a new series called Stargate: Universe in the fall, its suppose to be a lot of fun. Caprica is the prequel to the current show, so it shows the build up before the big bang :) I will miss BSG so hopefully these other shows are just as fun!
Yeah I Cant wait for this Saturday :D yeah they planned the show to end where it is right now! which I think more should do, some shows become money machines, at least with BSG they have been building it to a point which will I hope EPIC!!!
great show. I just dont like the last hour after they arrived at their final destination. I would have gone in another direction entirely to allow for a more open ended universe (rather than a "closed loop"). If I re-watch it I just wont watch the last hour - ill imagine the rest on my own etc.

Once the cylons had evolved to the point of the 12 models.
They had progressed beyond the term robot or toaster.
They had became a reflection of their original creators.
They have become unique organisms capable of independent thought.

So sad...
I'll give it some thought this week!
What about your contest?

The worst thing Sci-Fi ever did was cancel the Dresden Files.

What? Atlantis is cancelled????? I love that show. Is their going to be any more epi's. I also am hooked on Battlestar and looking forward to fri. night. Now you say there's going to be a show called Caprica? I hadn't heard about that. Good news and sounds awesome
Fringe111 2 years ago
Hey Joy! Ya they canceled Atlantis but they are starting a new series called Stargate: Universe in the fall, its suppose to be a lot of fun. Caprica is the prequel to the current show, so it shows the build up before the big bang :) I will miss BSG so hopefully these other shows are just as fun!

Man I didn't know any of this. Those were my favorite shows. I wonder if Caprica will have the same actors

Yeah I Cant wait for this Saturday :D yeah they planned the show to end where it is right now! which I think more should do, some shows become money machines, at least with BSG they have been building it to a point which will I hope EPIC!!!

Shit this better be epic! I am so excited about it that I am planning to have a bunch of friends over to watch.. popcorn and getting sloshed LOL
