  • Thank you for posting this!

  • This is very special.

  • he's "special."

  • By staying grounded in God's precepts he will be more than a conqueror.

  • @carlpers777 Except as a QB in the NFL...

  • @orioles97 Orioles has spoken. You were probably one of his doubters when he came out of high school, and probably questioned his ability to play on the college level. Keep on doubting. You are good at that. He'll keep on breaking records. That's what he does.

  • @carlpers777 Dude I can't think of anyone at the time who questioned Tebow's ability to play at the college level as a HS prospect. But the leap from the college game to the NFL is FAR greater than the leap from HS to college. I just don't understand how you're going to estimate his future in the NFL based on what he did in college. If that's your reasoning then why didn't Wuerffel, Grossman, Leaf, Crouch, Russell, Leinhart, etc. do in the NFL what they did in college?

  • @orioles97 My reasoning is not based upon anything quantifiable. It is simply a gut feeling that he has certain intangibles that will set him apart.

    Time will tell.

None of those that you mentioned put up Tebow's combined numbers in college though. A lot of them were more efficient, threw for more yards or touchdowns, but none of them provided the dual threat element that he does. He is one of a kind. Robinson from Michigan is amazing also as is Newton from Auburn.

  • Certain intangibles... You mean his work ethic? I agree that as of right now, that is his biggest asset in his quest to become an NFL QB.

So u do admit that Tebow's #s were a result of his dual threat presence in the form of the style of offense he ran at UF (spread option). Do u kno wat S. Matthews, D. Wuerffel, R. Grossman, E. Crouch, all had in common? Mechanics aside, they were all great college QB's who ran offenses that r virtually non-existent in the NFL...

  • ... Tebow is a HORRIBLE pocket passer so all that's left is his ability to run and unless he wants to significantly shorten his NFL career, he better not run like he did at UF. Out goes his 'dual threat' threat that made him the college QB he was...

  • @carlpers777 W/ all that said, I hate the Gators. However, it would be nice to see Tebow succeed as an NFL QB. I just think it'd be nice to see more players w/ characters like Peyton Manning and not Terrell Owens. Regardless of where he went to school, Tim's a good person and I sure wouldn't mind if he proved me and the rest of his critics wrong. I just believe in a more objective approach to things when millions of dollars are on the line as is in this case. But that's just my take on it.

  • @orioles97 Intangibles like leadership, confidence, faith. The truth is half of the stars in the NFL were low draft picks who were no names in college.

He does not have to be a pocket passer. Look at all the USC pocket passers that are flaming out in the NFL. Being a pocket passer is not the sine qua non of quarterbacking success. Leadership, solid and proven skills, and unwaivering confidence are.

Those attributes and intangibles separate him from the ones you mentioned.

  • "faith"

How many successful players in sport don't possess even close to the same amount of faith in a god as Tebow? A lot.

"Being a pocket passer is not the sine qua non of quarterbacking success"

What solid starting QB in the NFL is not a good pocket passer? Im not saying thats the only thing an NFL QB needs, but it's definitely more important than being mobile.

  • @orioles97 How many of those with less faith were Heisman contenders three of the four years they played in college, won two national championships, three SEC Eastern Dvision Championships and two SEC Championships?

What he perhaps lacks in pocket passing ability he more than makes up for in faith. We can't really comment on other successful players' faiths because they don't necessarily put their faith at the forefront of their career as he does.

  • @carlpers777 How many Heisman winners become successful NFL players? The answer is not the majority. You yourself acknowledged that to some extent when u said, "the truth is half of the stars in the NFL were low draft picks who were no names in college."

  • @carlpers777 "What he perhaps lacks in pocket passing ability he more than makes up for in faith."

HA! That doesn't mean that will transfer to on field production! Ask Danny Wuerfell! LMAO!

  • @orioles97 Palmer is the single reason why the Bengals will not win a Super Bowl in this era. He is probably the most overrated QB in the NFL. He consistently makes horrible decisions, puts his defense in impossible predicaments, and lacks 1/10 of the leadership ability of Tebow.

Sanchez is a media hype. He came to NY which is known for making or breaking you, and became a media darling. He throws about three passes longer than 10 yards all year and relies on a running game and a grt def

  • "Palmer is the single reason why the Bengals will not win a Super Bowl in this era."

Since when did football stop becoming a TEAM sport?

"and lacks 1/10 of the leadership ability of Tebow"

That's an irrational statistic. Since when can leadership be measured in quantifiable terms? lol

  • @orioles97 The only reason why there is such a heavy emphasis on pocket passing is because if the game were played with a mobile qb the vast majority of the the qbs in the NFL would be people of color.

    Tebow is an exception.

The NFL is going to keep that position-"the thinking position of the football team" - as limited in color as possible.

When you see the QBs from Nebraska, Auburn, Ohio State and Michigan as well as Tebow, you see the dawning of a new age in professional football.

  • "The only reason why there is such a heavy emphasis on pocket passing is... the qbs in the NFL would be people of color."

"The NFL is going to keep that position - 'the thinking position of the football team" - as limited in color as possible."

What a bunch bullshit. I thought this was a decent debate between 2 different approaches to how 1 becomes a successful QB in the NFL but its now apparent I'm just wasting my time w/ som1 whose knowledge of football goes no farther than lazy idealism.

  • "The truth is half of the stars in the NFL were low draft picks who were no names in college."

I hardly think of Tim as a low draft choice. He went in the 1st rd.

"Look at all the USC pocket passers that are flaming out in the NFL"

Carson Palmer's done just fine. Leinhart hasn't. Sanchez has shown promise.

That's only one 'flame out' out of 3 QB's who have come out of USC in the past 7 years.

  • love you Tebow... we will miss you... GO GATORS!

  • And it was really special...and that was really special....special...special...

  • He is an athlete....not a speech writer lol. What do you expect? Not to mention coming off of the "biggest" rivalry game of the year.

  • Everyone hates Tebow because he's good and not only on the field but good outside. People don't want to actually believe somebody is that holy. And therefore all his goodness is hated because he just can't do anything worth talking about. I know him or a fan of his but that's the way people are.

  • fuckin cry baby!!!!!!

  • Heres one for you F-U

  • Why does everyone hate Tebow. not that i'm a Gators fan or anything... What has he done to anyone... he does the right thing, believes in God, plays hard, and is a great captain/leader....

  • superman

  • Watch out for cheerleaders' ankles!

  • nice!

  • i heard on espn if mike shanahan gets hired by the bills he wants to get tim tebow

  • 3rd comment son!!! and yah it is sad that was tim tebows last home game but i do want ot see him in the nfl but everyone thinks he wont be good but i bet if he goes to the jags and is starting qb he'll prob. be good

  • Its hard to say with him, he is tough as shit, and can run well. I just think that once he is playing against elite players his slow release will be exposed. Smart team makes him 3rd down HB. Maybe a wildcat QB but I dont think the wildcat will be around too long.

  • second comment Go Tim!!!!
