Also, wanted to ask: Do you believe Wiseau's claims that the movie is a "black comedy", or is all of the film's "awful-ness" unintentional?

absolutely not. it's clearly unintentionally funny. i've watched a lot of interviews with wiseau. he's insecure. he feels really stupid for everybody laughing at the movie so he acts like the humor was intentional. that is funny in itself. the movie is hilarious for all its mistakes. nothing intentional.

yeah, he was. i don't watch tim and eric but when i got into the room i found out he was a guest on their show and i watched the sketch he's in. also, adult swim aired "the room" at midnight on april fool's day.

awesome. i am right. maybe watch an interview with the freak director tommy wiseau on youtube before you watch it. there are also videos of audience reactions to "the room" screenings and a lot of long clips from the movie on youtube.

it's so awesome. you'll probably love it, but maybe read the wikipedia entry on it to get the full context. i became obsessed with this movie before i got it in the mail. i actually had it overnighted because i was sick of being glued to youtube watching "the room" clips for a week.
