  • Ok, I got the white plug out (I had to push harder and use a screwdriver) and the caps lock key out, I had to pull up on the edge of the computer where the light shows up to get it out. Now I am having touble getting the black and white plug out that you showed at ~6:48. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Hey, thanks for this video. Just one thing though. When I try to disconnect the monitor wires with the white plug down near the touch pad it wont work. It feels like im going to break the connection. Do you have to release it or something?

  • I'm having some trouble with the little plugs in the bottom left of the computer and the caps lock light plugs out. I'm afraid that if I pull to hard I will break my parent's laptop (I'm trying to clean out the fan). Is there a lever I have to pull or do I just pull harder? I can't go back now because I unplugged the little plugs attached the the moniter and I don't know where they go back to.

  • blue

  • skrouh or skru idk.. haha funnzy , mjaaaaaaa

  • Fuck me! 3 videos to get this far! Unbelievable!

  • i have a presario cq71 and would i be able to change the graphics card and if you can what do you recommend putting in? thank you :)

  • plzz help!!!!! when you take off them wireless card wires the gold ones.. where the hell do you put them back in at!!!.... the ones connected to the monitor

  • u maybe my only hope....

  • Davin u have a cq57 and I'm having a hard time getting it apart. Do u know anything about this model of compaq

  • Davin you really need a small screwdriver kit bro. I have some proper computer tools and they really are essential kit. Aside from that pretty good as these are really tricky things to work on, and even worse to re-sit the keyboard so all the keys work. :-))

  • Hey there Davin... I wonder if i can clean my fan without taking out the screen?

  • @5:25 You got the Cap light Lock .. so em, you dont wanna mess dat up

  • You got the Cap light Lock .. you wanna make sure you get dat outta da way

  • every computer manufacturer needs to figure out how to redesign the fan and its placement so that you dont have to take every single last piece of the computer apart to get to the stupid thing.

the fan is the one thing that has the most moving parts (which makes it more susceptible to failure), and gets the dirtiest, so put the fan where we can easily get to it to clean it frequently, even with a little flap door like the way the harddrive has its own little door, and the wireless card too

  • I have a Compaq Presario CQ71 and I think keyboard needs replacing... is the procedure the same in that if I remove all the screws from the rear will the keyboard just come away without having to take off the surrounding plastic fitting..?

  • I have a Compaq Presario CQ61 with an Intel Gl40 chipset and an Intel Celeron CPU which isnt too shabby but it simply isnt enough for rougher programs. Am I by any means able to upgrade those 2 with anything? I've also heard that a Windows 7 upgrade might speed things up (Im using Vista Sp2 with latest BIOS update), is this true?

  • Thanks for posting this it really helped me replace my broken laptop screen.

  • go to autozone. they have a set of tiny screwdrivers for like 5$

  • Hey your video really helped me! I was able to take everything apart the way you said.. Only think is now i'm not sure where to plug the monitor back in... Can you help?

  • Thanks DDG. Your video was pretty straight forward and helped me replace the screen in the CQ60 I was working on. Saved my friend $500.

  • Three videos of the same shit, and you failed 3 times to get the dam screw driver? -.- Dam dude, you're a noob with hardware honestly.

  • wow thats wierd. ur laptop must be an earlier model, because the screw tht was hard for u to get out has a bigger hole in mine

  • Thanks so much for this video! I was able to change my keyboard so easily and I'm a total amateur. Nice job.

  • son of bitch, finally found a video haha. THANKS.

  • thanx heaps bruv!

  • I've watched this video a few times and could really do with some help. I need to get the keyboard off my compaq, I can see you taking off here, but I'm deaf and without captions I'm struggling with it. Do I need to take everything off the bottom to get the keyboard off?

  • Thank you! My brother has a laptop similar to this model, & we were able to fix his garbled screen issues.

  • Thank u so much...

  • You'd be really happy to get a precision screwdriver set. They're great for this kind of thing even if your regular screwdriver fits. They treat the screws better and you have an easier time all around even with the easy to get screws. Although I'm pretty jealous of your magnetic screwdriver. My precision set needs that. I'm having a hell of a time getting the screws out once I loosen them!

  • hey nice video but I would like to know how do you remove the cable from the mic without damaging it. seems very fragile and I wouldn't want break it when I try to remove it. sorry for the bad english

  • I know this is kinda of an old video but how do I take apart the actual monitor cause I think I need to, to repair the LCD screen.

  • dude i fucking beg you try to put anything in your hand to make it white!!!!!! i cant see anything man!! your hand and the laptop colour are same!!! at least put some effects with adobe after effects or photoshop i realy dont care but i cant see your fingers at allll!!! all i see is that white claw -,-

  • intresting fact im watching this on the same laptop, working out how to replace the lcd and fan because both are shit, thanks for the help man, was going to do this my self but didnt want to risk brakeing it without help :P

  • Thanks for the video. I have this laptop and it was a pain to figure out how to take it apart. Got stuck after taking all the screws out from the bottom and didn't know where to go from there.

Really need to get the dust out of this thing.

  • that thing at 2:16 you said to lift it up...i kinda screwed it up cuz i didn't watch this video before i get it done so i fixed it with a toothpick!!!

  • dude, can i change that graphics card for this laptop??

  • @KimAmirVEVO it depends on the model you have.

  • @DavinDaGeek yeah..mine was presario CQ40-401AU n what i can tell u,

graphics prformance soo low...i dont know i can change that card driver or not...

  • @DavinDaGeek Could I change the graphics card for the CQ-61?

  • @KimAmirVEVO it depends. if you have a laptop which is equipped with a dedicated graphics you can change it, but sad to say, you cannot upgrade it like putting a new model of graphics. the only upgrade you can do with it is to have a higher memory video card with the same model. If your laptop is equipped with an integrated graphics, then it is hopeless

  • Dude...you are doing God's work! The Science God. (Not that crazy one!)

  • thx

  • hi i want to know if i can remove the fan without removing all of those things that u did. i mean is it a quicker way???? thnx in advance

  • very nce review

  • Can you show or tell me how to change the backlight? My screen got wet w/ 4yo cleaning it :)

thanks and keep up the good work!

  • Can you show or tell me how to change the backlight? My sscreen got wet w/ 4yo cleaning it :)

thanks and keep up the good work!

  • Quick question: Sorry if someone has asked this before... But once the whole monitor part is removed can you remove the LCD and replace ONLY the LCD screen or does the whole monitor part need to be replaced? If so, how would one go about replacing the LCD screen once the monitor part is removed? Thanks for the help, I appreciate it!

  • @PhishPhan417 just find an LCD screen for the same model of laptop and put it in there. Should work fine. Watch my last video on how I take it all apart.

  • @DavinDaGeek Hi I got an hp compaq cq60 can I change the videocard of it?

  • @PhishPhan417 if you just wany the screen only from under th keyboard

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you for taking the time to make these vids and uploading them, Davin!

  • just my ignorance sir @DavinDaGeek so same process with cq40's?

  • @modrows11 Oh not me of cures, I'm too perfect of a person to ever make a mistake out of 160+ videos. Dear ol me, I couldn't live with my self if I ever made a mistake. I mean we're all perfect in life and must do everything perfect like all humans should, no one in the history of man kind has ever made a mistake or blunder,Right?

  • what happens if the connector from the power cover comes off??? I don't know how to reconnect it to the chip. Please help

  • Does the screen just pull apart to replace the screen

  • @jayon1000 Yes, you can take the screen off and replace it with another.

  • i got a question.

Do you have to take of the the screen to get to the mother board??

    please answer :)

    i subscribed!!

  • quick question, will a keyboard for a cq60 fit my cq61-319wm?

  • next time use a smaller screw driver. the big one may strip the screw.. =)

  • hi Davin, great video tutorials.

do you know if i can upgrade the processor on this thing (i've heard you can), if so, how is this done? also, what is the max RAM capacity of this?

  • hate pointless 30 second intros

  • @Jolobodobs Yeah me too, that's why I stopped using them xP.

  • @DavinDaGeek dont get me wrong. I know the amount of work that can go into an intro. Id prolly hate them less if my net wasnt so slow. lol

  • ??? that doesn't look like the right kind of screwdriver...you need a set of metric screwdrivers to work on these. I got a set from Sears for about $30. You need some small flat blade screwdrivers to pry up on those connectors.

  • @whiskeyify Excuse me, but what are you talking about? This computer has 0 hex screws in it. They're all phillips screws in this laptop. And yes it is completely fine to use a magnetic screwdriver on a laptop. As long as the machine is off and not running, you're fine.

  • duude you sound just like soldierknows best

  • Need some help.

how do I take out the layouts from the screen? I have compaq CQ61-319TX and I'm ordering online a new laptop screen, the people ask me to get the model number at the back of the screen but I'm not sure how to.

  • @ArcherJester18 I never seen a model number on the back of my screen, try giving them the number on the bottom of your computer.

  • Cool- have you got any pointers on what needs to be done? I'm at the stage where I've taken out about 20 screws from the bottom- all the keyboard icon ones, but the top keyboard bit still won't pop out so I'm thinking there are more, like the hard drive / optical drive / wireless that need to go. Any help appreciated. Thank you, your video is brill.

  • I'm going to be having a go tomorrow- I have to replace a smashed screen on the cq71. I'm hoping the rest is obvious- is it easy once the lid is off to replace the screen?

  • @TheBexbexbex Yes, it is very easy.

  • @DavinDaGeek PS Please may I ask another thing? To replace the broken screen, do I have to take it virtually all apart (i.e. follow your videos 1-3)? Or can I skip some parts (can anything be left and still access the screen)? Thanks so much, I'm a bit daunted but have just bought some screwdrivers to help.

  • @TheBexbexbex No you do not have to take the whole computer apart, you can take it halfway apart.

  • Some moms are so great, aren't they? Sounds like you have a great mom. Thanks for the video. I piked up one of these for $60 and it needs a lot of work.

  • @Michaelwiseguy Yes they are, aren't they. and that's awesome.

  • hi i need a help i have cq 61 but its a same design as 60 and my lcd blinks and whn i press the left side near speakers thn it comes on and remain stable but after some time it start blinking again can u help me with tht?>

  • @headshot369258147 I know right ? :-D

  • hey which wire would i need to emm 'fiddle' with to make my monitor to stop flickering because im having problems with it lately, thanks

  • I am trying to reassemble my compaq presario cq60 and I am stuck at puting my moniter back on. The wireless card wire ends were gathered underneath the face plate and I am unsure how to place them back so that when I get ready to place my wireless card back in, I can reinstall them. Help from anyone who knows would be very much appreciated!

  • This video is what I actually needed man,

cheers for the true geek! :)

  • @Useless714 There are about three or four screws inside the battery department that you can unscrew to take off the keyboard. You can't miss them, The screws are labels next to them that indicate a little keyboard icon.

  • @siaynoqau .....oh I see u looked up the meaning of troll. .... ok first of all u can comment on what he is doing wrong but u don't have to be ass about it. U could have said in a nice way. U just wanted to start some shit that's why u commented in the 1st place. Be a man and Admit it. Now u are calling me immature dude u are making comments like " not, epic fail" that's sounds like what a child would say. And you are being a smart ass.

  • @siaynoqau I do not know DavinDaGeek IRL but I do know James25313. The name calling that you are referring to I.E. troll, is not name calling at all. Google: Internet slang troll. Anywho . . . I was a programmer for my state retirement board for 2 1/2 - DB2 databases . . . I have worked on millions of computers . . . my penis is made out of old ATA harddrives.

So I feel I am completely qualified in saying . . . move on. Your trolling is weak. His tutorial is good.

    I'm OUT!

    Barada

  • @BaradaNels further to the point since when do we ask a 'programmer' for engineering advice? The fact that YOU think this tut is 'good' shows why not!

    1.incorrect tools

    2.incorrect work enviroment

    3.incorrect advice

    4.incorrect terminology

    5.incorrect methods

Oh, and if you think you have "worked on millions of computers" (do the maths) &/or your "penis is made out of old ATA harddrives" you are delusional!

Either way you are NOT 'qualified' to say anything only give an OPINION!!

    You're OUT!

  • @siaynoqau LMAO! Wow dude . . . just wow! I see my attempt at levity has fallen upon a stern mind. Allow me to retort . . .

#1. If you think that taking apart a laptop is engineering. Then check your premises. I know two engineers that ROFL when I showed them your post over breakfast.

    #2. Incorrect this and that . . . R U SRS? It is a youtube tutorial!

#3. Yes the tutorial being good is my opinion . . . just like your comments are yours, and yours alone . . . check others posts! You are alone!

  • @siaynoqau Oh . . . and out of mute curiosity . . . I have to know . . . who are the "we" in: QUOTE "further to the point since when do WE ask a 'programmer' for engineering advice?" UNQUOTE

Is the WE meaning you alone (because yes, you are alone) as in as much as how royalty and snobbish blue bloods refer to themselves in a plural manner? Or do you mean WE as in you and your kitty-cat Mr. Snuggles-worth? Or are you referring to WE as in dumb-asses as a whole?

    Inquiring minds wish to know!

  • @BaradaNels Thanks I'm glad you like the tutorial. =)

  • @DavinDaGeek Yeah James showed it to me. Compaqs can be a pain, bro. James and I took apart two Dell laptops: XPS Gen 1 and an Inspiron 9100. We swapped the mobos in them because my dumb bro killed the one in the XPS.

Flashed that mobo with the XPS bios and when I finished:

    3.4 Pentium 4 HT Extreme

    1 gig DDR2 Ram

ATI Radeon 9800 256meg AGP 8X modded to open up all 16 pipes

    1920X1200 15.4in LCD

    Windows XP Pro SP3

Ah the good ole' desktop replacements! Will leave exhaust burns on the sofa!

  • @BaradaNels Yep man this computer can be a pain with all of it's screws. I have to clean it out like every month from dust. and I just looked that laptop up, and man it's a beast. I'm looking to get a new pc my self sometime soon. I need something so that I can do my art and animation work on it. This laptop is sucking azz right now. and lmao did that laptop burn your sofa? and yeah James is a really cool dude, He's one of the reasons I got into making youtube videos.

  • @DavinDaGeek That bad boy a duo core? Whats the specs? Depending on stats: I.E. Two gigs ram or less and vista OS . . . you can always go XP Pro on minimal services, with minimal boot & minimal Windows Visuals to run just about whatever Visual Software you need. Graphics processor can still be an issue, but there is always the hardware tweaking. If you are interested (cause any friend of James is a friend of mine) I can assist you via Skype video or w/e. Breathe new life into that bad boy!

  • @BaradaNels It's a single core. However now I was really looking to get a desktop that's an Core i7. I've been checking out ibuypower and they have some outstanding deals and prices. I'm gonna need something powerful to use when I go to college. There's gonna be a ton of CPU and GPU hungry programs I'm gonna be working with and there is nothing this piece of doodoo laptop I have here can do about it. and if you still want my skype I can give it to you via PM.

  • @DavinDaGeek Also keep checking newegg dot com. They sometimes have great deals also. You would be very surprised what an overclocked laptop is capable of doing. I have an older XPS M170 2.4ghz single core mobility. It can be a beast if it needs to.

BUT, if you are wanting an i7 Core I will not talk you out of it. I love my Quad-core. Make sure whatever you do, roll a 64-bit OS. I am not too sure about Win 7 cause I love the bug-less vista SP2 64-bit.

  • @BaradaNels Ok, I'll be on the look out man, if I can't get a core i7 then I would go with a quad core. Thanks for all the help and I'm on windows seven right now, so far I have yet to have an issue, however it is the 32 bit version.

  • @BaradaNels from your pal james25313 "u don't know what the fuck u are doing because you are a dumb ass troll. BTW how old are u because u type like u are a little kid\bitch. You need to stop sucking on ur moma's tits and grow up. Before u can hang with the big boys. PUNK ASS BITCH!!! "

Eloquent circle of friends you have!

  • @siaynoqau Quote: "Eloquent circle of friends you have!" Unquote

Man I LOLed at this so hard! What are you the President of Mothers Against Bad Influences? Give me a break, my feeble-minded friend! You are stretching for anything now that your original trolling attempt has failed.

Resorted to correcting spelling, have we? LMAO! I have gotta tell you Siaynoqau . . . you ARE good for one thing: A damned good laugh. I thank you! Your rendition of "The Jester at Court" made my day!

  • @siaynoqau ...look if u think u can do better make a tutorial urself . Oh wait, u can't. becouse u don't know what the fuck u are doing because you are a dumb ass troll. BTW how old are u because u type like u are a little kid\bitch. You need to stop sucking on ur moma's tits and grow up. Before u can hang with the big boys. PUNK ASS BITCH!!!

  • @james25313 Hey kiddo, I JUST stripped down one of these in ten minutes, and that's whilst replying to you and others, not so hard!

I originally came across this tut as I had to strip one down for the first time (requires new SCREEN) and was looking for any tips to save a bit of time, I REGULARLY carry out repairs on laptops, and have been involved in numerous tutorial videos/films (from train maintenance to home theatre), so I think I DO know what I am doing!

  • @siaynoqau ...man u a fucking lier if u took it apart in 10 mins then u wasn't careful it takes more then 10 mins if ur being careful. ..... another thing if u don't like my comments then block me. That's what the button was made for and don't reply back. Like the old saying if u can't take the heat then get out of the kitchen. I think its funny when trollers talk shit but then can't hang and then cry about it...

  • @james25313 What is a 'lier'? I notice you can spell the profanities correctly but NOT an 'ordinary' English word! My, my matey, back to school for you! Do you not mean it takes YOU more than 10 mins if your being careful? (if you can do it at all!)

Yep now that comment could be trolling! (Not though, your out!)

Me, can't take the heat! Not I who has to resort to insults and offensive language!

P.s. Part (screen) arrived, fitted, tested & returned to happy owner!

    Goodnight children. xxxx

  • @james25313 I also find your comment "stop sucking on ur moma's tits" EXTREMELY OFFENSIVE! My mother has passed away and request you do not use her name in such an OFFENSIVE manner but have some respect for the dead!

In fact I have no choice but to report your offensive comments, abusive language and demeanour to see if we can have your 'privileges' removed until you act in a more mature, responsible, adult manner!

  • @siaynoqau.....BTW sorry about ur mother I will respect ur mother, RIP..... but I didn't insult ur mother in that comment I was referring to u being a big baby.....

  • @siaynoqau .....Davin is a cool guy why are u being a troll. you know making these tutorials are not easy and we don't get paid to make these tutorials. we do them because we enjoy making them. then we have trollers come along and nic-pic on pointless shit like screw sizes. I mean come on. i've read ur comment to davin they where pointless u wasted ur time complaining.

  • I never said you do or not live with your parents. I am deriding your comment "I'm gonna call my mom" @7:57 because YOU do not have the correct tools for the job!! Nor do you check b4 filming! (I have AT LEAST 6 of the correct items!)You do not have/know the correct tools after 3 years @ GeekSquad ?(Hardly a good reference)

A 'monitor' is a self contained unit, a' screen' is an integral part of a larger unit!!

At 50+ yrs old I have been designing/repairing computers since BEFORE you were born

  • @siaynoqau Nope I never really owned a laptop my self until then, I have always been a desktop person. So I never really had a need to keep small Phillips head screwdriver around. I was shocked that they would put one small screw in the laptop like that. I knew the laptop had a ton of screws but it was that small one that I that I didn't know about, and I don't work at Best Buy anymore atm. I work at a Hospital now.and older people sure don't use the words Epic Fail.

  • @siaynoqau and it doesn't matter to me if i call it a monitor or screen. I can care less. I know one thing, they both have the ability to show images. So it's not a big deal at all.

  • @siaynoqau Last but not least, I have been taking computers and laptops apart for 3 years as a GeekSquad at Best Buy. I know what I'm doing here buddy. and on this model of computer you have to lift the little black clip up. and lmao a monitor is a screen. There is no difference between the to if you call them if you call them one thing. It's people like you who think you know everything but come to find out you're the kind of person who like to find any mistake to complain about.

  • @siaynoqau I plan on moving to California in a year or so. My parents are going to stay here Indiana. and Nope sorry I didn't have any tables that I felt comfortable with to make this video on. So I used the next best method and that was my lap. and what are yo even talking about? This was edited, I kept it in there because I felt like it xD and That's the point I had to get a new screw driver that I didn't have. If you would have watched the other parts of the video you would have seen.

  • @siaynoqau Ahh first off you don't know the full story of anything that you just said. I do live with my parents due to them not being able to take care of them self too easily on their own. My mom is 65 years old and my dad has a heart disease which doesn't allow him to work anymore. So I have to do what I can to keep the bills paid around here. My mom works but it's part time, I'm the only one with the full time job to help keep the bills paid.

  • @DavinDaGeek .. siaynoqau is a ass, f*ck him

  • Ive just ordered a screen due to be delivered tomorrow Dav, i've got a CQ71 I assume this is pretty much how my screen needs dismantling? gulp..

I agree with gerb havin to nearly take the thing completely apart JUST to change the screen....i'm havin a go anyway let you know how i get on.

  • @Antneebri Yep it's a pain to take the screen out >.<. however you're going to be happy once you did it. The first time oping your laptop can be a pain, however you will surely get used to it and then opening it will be child's play.

  • @DavinDaGeek Just letting know i fitted the new screen on my own by myself oh yes, not as frightenin as you think eh? just a case of remembering where everything goes back. Your vid helped alot so thanks a bunch dav. i was getting quotes of around 150 quid to have one fitted so it saved me a few bob..got one for 90 so happy days am gonna the pub to spend me savings!!!

Anyone else worried about havin a go just do it, anybody with half a brain can do it....I did.

    Cheers mate.

  • @Antneebri Yeah it should work man. Hope it went well.

  • hey do you know how to replace the \ key on my laptop. it popped out and wont go back in. It's not broken or anything just really tough to put back in.

  • Comment removed

  • Help! I broke my Compaq screen too. Looked like an easy job to replace it, so ordered a new screen. THEN discovered will need to dismantle whole laptop. Thanks Compaq. :( Am pretty handy with a screwdriver, but now I learn that Electro Static Discharge could destroy my computer!!! Should I risk it? If I wear an ESD wrist strap will it be safe? Or shouldl I just pay £££ for someone to repair it? *sob* x

  • This is outrageous, just to replace an lcd! I've never seen such a rediculous layout for a laptop in my life! Do HP/Compaq do this just to force you to use them for lcd repairs? (Side note: LCD problems in these laptops are very common. Have HP done anything to make the LCD's go? Maybe that's why it's so awkward to replace..)

  • @gerbilplay4 Oh if you think this is a ridiculous layout, then you should never buy a mac book, cuz they're not meant for consumers to open at all. and yes they do make them hard to open so that we can send them in to get repaired. and I haven't had an issue with my screen ever. But yeah some of the computers do seem to have issues now and then.

  • davinnnnnnn dude would this work for the CQ40 model to?

  • @Joshstarrr Yes. =)

  • what can i do if that white part thingy to plug in the keyboard is messed up and for that part 5:26 i dont know where it get connected 2 if u can take picture and send me that could be cool. 1 more thing when i turn the laptop on that compaq screen comes up and at the bottom its say press esc for someting, after dat screen it doesnt load to desktop the screen just goes to like a light grey colour

  • @iTzAlpha1 You have to send it to HP or just replace your mother board all together.

  • Can you show me where the video card, CPU and CPU speed are? i wanted to change them so that it can be faster. I dont know if it can be change or not, i scared that if i dismantle it, it will spoil. And by the way, my computer is compaq presario CQ40 not CQ60, but im not sure if it is the same or not. PLEASE REPLAY thx!

  • @XxcaromanxX If you change the video card then you're gonna have to change out the mother board because it is built into it. and click my video annotations it will take you to my latest video on the full take down of the computer.

PS sorry for the late reply.

  • Hey davin, I broke my lcd, i have the same model laptop and i was gonna order a new one so i decided to take out the broken one and in the process i messed up bad and now the power wont come on, when i was removing the microphone thing i broke the top part of the white plug and the caps lock light cord came out, could that effect the power, also i mixed up the screws and i dont know where to put which ones, im in a real jam here any advice would be great

  • @redrising08 I'd say call HP and see what they can do for you.

  • wus the name of the song in the beggining plus I want to make my wires tighter to my laptop monitor cause my screen flickers could you show me how to do that?

  • @LebronandWallace Oh, I made the song, it's name is DavinDaGeek intro xP.

and I don't think you can put them closer the the monitor, Persai, because they all will have to go in and out on the metal of the laptop. They're gonna be as close to the laptop as possible already.

  • Thank You

  • hey im trying to take my keyboard apart to make a folding keyboard and i forgot what goes where on the membrane. can you please help

  • @slowandpainless I guess I can help. I'll take a few pictures of my keyboard and give you the links to them on my photobucket. =3

  • @pdani72 Ahh, well you don't have to do it if you're not comfortable with doing it. =)

  • @ pdani72 Yeah I'm sure you can put that in there, as long as it is built for the laptop it's self.

  • How do you remove or replace the LCD display?

  • @seeksten First you would want to buy a new monitor from some where like ebay or Hp them self, then you remove the screw from the back. then take out the keyboard, then the plastic part around the where the keyboard lay, next take out the four screws from the monitor. Then put in th new monitor. and you're good.

  • Hey thanx for the vid.

Was wondering though, all i want to do is give the fan a clean and stuff, is there a quick way of getting to it, once the keyboard is removed can i get to the fan with some compressed air without taking the whole thing apart.

    Thanks

  • can you make a video on just the screen so we can see where the webcam goes i am pretty sure you can just add it in with a new bezel but i want to make sure the wire comes in the screen before i buy the cam

  • Oh sorry, this model of CQ60 doesn't come with the webcam built in it. D= However all you have to do is lift all of the cords out of the way.

  • i realize this you have the same model i have 420us i just wanted to know if compaq is smart enough to make a spot for it on the motherboard (wishful thinking i know)

  • Hmm, I didn't see any free open slots on the motherboard when I opened, everything was taken with cords and stuff.

  • did you open the screens bezel? because the service manual i have shows some stuff under the bezel but it says select models

  • i could send you the manual if you would like
