  • @CHSKATER1985 You have to flash it and tell the new carrier to add your MEID to their system...I think you have to program the phone then to get data...

  • Does this work on a phone running 2.2.1. I have ran this process about 10 times and have tried all the modes and followed all the directions and it fails everytime. It tells me the root failed.

  • what happens if it takes more than 5 minutes? becuase i'm trying to run this, but it doesn't go any longer than almost half way through for the bar, and stops at "waiting for device... " and does not go farther to finish the root.

  • I got all the way though the process fine just like the video until it said "waiting for device"... in your video is also said this but then proceeded to finish. I let it sit for over 5 min now and still nothing is happening.. suggestions?

  • @PoppinCain Couple things. Make sure the drivers are installed, make sure you have usb debugging on, and make sure that you're using an OEM data cable. Another thing you might want to try is to put USB debugging on and then power off the phone and power it back on before you connect. Let the phone fully reboot and then connect it to the comp. Let me know how that goes.

  • I ran RootMyX2 and I put it in all the syncing modes, and in each one, it says make sure your device is connected and your drivers are installed. I triple checked the connection on my computer, and it said everything was connected. Plus, I re-downloaded the drivers 3 times! Please help, I really need this to work!

    When I turn on usb debugging, i set the connection to charge only once plugged in. Then the browser opens up the "random v cast thing" and everything is fine - until I run RootMyX2. I am doing everything right, because there are only 2 steps: install the drivers (i know they are installed because the browser opens up the "random v cast thing" - the second part is running RootMyX2. I do everything you say to do (install drivers, turn on usb debugging, put phone in charge only mode)

  • @Deanozaur And what happens when you run RootmyX2? That's odd that it wont read your phone if that's the case. Have you looked on androidcentral to see if anyone else is reporting similar issues?

    When I run RootMyX2, everything happens just like it happened in your video, until the point where I click "root me" it simply has the bar quickly finish loading, and then it says the message "Failed! Make sure device is plugged in and drivers are installed!"

  • @Deanozaur That is very very odd. Another quick question, are you using the OEM Micro USB cable? I'm sorry if the questions seem very basic but I'm just going down the checklist. Other than that I'm not too sure at what the problem could be.

    I dont know what OEM means, but I lost my motorola cable that came with my phone, so im using my sisters htc incredible cable a small portion of the time, because my dad gave me his micro usb wall outlet charger

  • @Deanozaur You know that might be a problem. Weird thing is that when I tried to do a Samsung Root using an HTC micro it didnt read. When I switched to the Samsung Original Cable it worked. So maybe that might be the issue? Anyway you can find an Original Motorola MicroUSB?

    I might be able to get one, but for the video you redirected me to, its not even an issue of my phone not connecting properly, its an issue with adb, which make me a little worried because the only thing I can really do is click run do root, not fiddle around with the adb malfunctions

  • @Deanozaur Yeah the ADB was what was not working on the Samsung when we tried it with a different cable. I would just give it a shot.

    and another thing about do root: when I just ran it without having my phone connected, it said all of the adb error stuff, but at the very end, it showed me a line that said "congratulations, you are now rooted

    no errors"

    what is that all about???!!!!???

  • @Deanozaur Have no idea. I didn't write the program so I'm not sure as to why that happens.

    I looked at the video, and I saw it before, I tried it before you recommended it to me, and let me tell you exactly what I did and what didnt work.

    So as usual I downloaded the regular android sdk and downloaded the whole package that comes in the setup of it. I went into the tools folder, and pasted all of the files from the doroot folder. And I already had the drivers set up and ready to go, and as i mentioned before, everything worked fine - until I clicked run do root

    When I ran do root, It said "adb is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batchfile" throughought the whole bootup of the program, and it said this line over and over again even before the 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 countdown, and it said a bunch of stuff failed, and I have no idea what went wrong, and I tried to investigate this. And this issue isnt a problem with the phone not correcting properly, its somekind of malfunction thats occuring with adb!

  • Hello!!! My doid says its got the 2.2 version but i don't see anything about froyo, can i follow this procedure? Also, al i want to do is root my phone so that i can use the free wifi tethering, do you recomend this for me?

  • @arrietal Yes. Very easy to do. 2.2 is known as Froyo. 2.3 will be Gingerbread

  • @DeanDino2359 i thimk im having problems installing the drivers cause when i go to root me it says failed not found,how do i install the drivers? Do i have to use astro and change it to an apk file? debugging on or off? thanks

  • @DeanDino2359 Did you Download the drivers in the description? You have to dl the USB driver with motoconnect. You also have to download the latest .NET framework which is also in our description. After everything is downloaded and installed I would put the phone into USB debugging and power it off. I would then power it back on..unlock the screen so that I'm on the home screen then connect it to the computer.

  • @TheGeeksHere After you connect it the computer will start running all the popups telling you that it recognized that phone and what not. If a screen comes up that says to install and driver disk just hit cancel. Once the computer finishes recognizing the phone you can then run the root. Now the problem that I have read about is that the phone wont be recognized so you'll have to mess around with the USB connection mode.

  • @TheGeeksHere This is done by connecting your phone to the comp and on the notification you'll be able to set it to either charge, mass storage, and media sync. Media synced was the one that worked for us. Hope everything works out..if not send me a message with the exact steps you did and the problems and I'll try to work it out for you.

  • @TheGeeksHere Thanksfor the help, I finally got it,my problem was getting my pc to recognize the phone which eventually happened. When i set it to over 1.3 however,the phone freezes and had a quadrant of 334(wtf?),and at 1.3 it's 1584. It was 1954at stick so im a little disapointed that i cant get it to go any higher.

  • @DeanDino2359 You have to mess around with the settings Check out a couple forums to see what people post as their stable settings. But glad it worked.

  • @DeanDino2359 sorry to bother you,im sure you have better things to do but since i rooted, the phone reboots and is now shuting off completely. If I try a different overclock app,the one by JRummy for example,do you think that would help? I like that one cause it allows kernal adjustments which i read keep your battery cooler,mine is really getting hot. Also,can you have 2 oveclock apps on the same phone? Thanks again

  • @DeanDino2359 First time I heard of that. The one we have in house is working fine. I dont see a problem with running two overclock programs. As long as you dont have them both set at diff freq at the same time you shouldn't run into any problems.

  • @DeanDino2359 Wait what? if anything Id say just clock it back to stock and let it run. If things arent running well then use that bootstrap programming and run the restore. That should put your system back to where it was prior to the overclock. But man is that weird.
