The iPhone doesn't suck.
I base this on user experience of both phones.I have the Touch,my Sister has the Iphone.Touch First:-Yes I have the world at my hands with open source platform for apps-the only problem is they are expensive,and half the time never work properly and freeze the phone.The touch screen appears cheap to the Iphone's her Iphone screen is Glass and beautiful,mine is thin plastic!and the Iphone screen seems much much more accurate.Music playback on her Iphone is lots lots better than my Touch :(
all phones screens are glass dumbass.. the iphone merely has a thin sheet of glass ontop of the allready glass screen.. sensible companies put a sheet of plastic of over the glass screens as plastic is cheaply replaced when you crack it.. plus.. you have less chance of hurting yourself if a plastic screen cover breaks.
The GPS is anothe highlight and with a good software you can use it on the street or in your car perfectly. The only thing you should not expect is a good camera, the pics are just ok and 5megapix really have nothing to say here. Making videos really fails, moving pics are getting blurry, which is a disapointment. BUT this is the only contra.
Ok people I have the HTC since 3 days and here it is: I really like the IPhone and hesitated a bit, now am very happy to have the HTC. Concerning the internet speed, display size and resolution, the HTC beats the IPhone clearly. The sound of the music player is fantstic too and the Opera browser is very good. The touch flo works brilliant and honestly, beside watching tv (which comes in the next generation)there is NOTHING the HTC does not have.

HTC has been leading ever since the first iPhone appeared, and Apple are havig a hard tiem catching up. There have not worted the worse issues like no GPS, but they won't come far as long as they don't implement a multi-tasking OS, which is THE great weakness of the iPhones at the moment. They also need to improve the size and resolution of the screen and the resolution of the camera. Not sure if the next iPhone will be an HTC killer.

The iPhone can't do true multitasking. SO far Apple kept failing. Their first attempt had no GPS when most Smartphones had one, now they have GPS, the screen on the HTC's is much better, but as logn as they use their clunky monotasking interface, they can't measure up with HTC and also why sales have not been as high as anticipated.
This is why Apple is going to adapt Android on their new models. Will give them a better chance.

No video Capture! (Even my 2003 Treo 650 had that), cant share music with other people, and can't get it unlocked, so cant use it outside the U. S. Besides, with Windows mobile you can choose from 1000s of applications. But, yes, the Iphone is pretty. HTC Touch is 3 years old, compare it to a Touch Diamond or a Touch HD, and it´s obvious the Iphone is a nice toy, but can´t really keep up with the HTC.
Regarding the typing, you can get a virtual keyboard for free (TouchPal). A "few" things Iphone is missing vs. the Touch: No Multimedia messages (can't send a picture by text messaging), can't switch batteries (I wonder how much they charge to change it), can´t Cut & Paste (Even 1999 Palms did that), no external memory card, no voice dialing, can´t use as a modem, can't edit Office files, no Bluetooth stereo, (continue...)

I had the Touch, and now I have the Diamond. The touch was slow as a turtle, the diamond is much faster, but still can not be compared to the iPhone, unfortunately. HTC still hasn't topped the iPhone's interface.

Function as a phone, without a doubt the iPhone can't compete. I know most want to blame it on AT&T but doesn't work that way. I've been with them for 5 yrs in the same area. iPhone drops 3-5 calls a day. I've had 3 iPhones from apple to fix it. Sound from speaker is a joke from the iPhone.

Even the lighting is diferent for the HTC shots. The coloring looks all washed out for the HTC but when they show the Iphone it has a nice dark back ground that enhances the color. This is a totally biased vid. Horrible.
The HTC is no competition for the iPhone. The HTC touch is extremely slow, it will begin to annoy you more and more because it's so frustrating to wait for apps to open etc.
Iphone loses badly. So what if its hard to break you can only do about 8 things on it lol. With the touch you can make it look like the iphone which is basically like modding it. Also its like having your own computer. The iphone just eats you money up is all. Iphone: Mac Users, people who have phones to show off/Have fun
HTC: Windows uders, people who use their phone alot for business. People who want a portable PC
Personally, I would go with the HTC, although it does have a price tag of $1300+

HTC Touch is 3 years old, compare it to a Touch Diamond or a Touch HD, and it´s obvious the Iphone is a nice toy, but can´t really keep up with the HTC.

Regarding the typing, you can get a virtual keyboard for free (TouchPal). A "few" things Iphone is missing vs. the Touch: No Multimedia messages (can't send a picture by text messaging), can't switch batteries (I wonder how much they charge to change it), can´t Cut & Paste (Even 1999 Palms did that), no external memory card, no voice dialing, can´t use as a modem, can't edit Office files, no Bluetooth stereo, (continue...)

i have an iPhone but the HTC Touch HD is looking like a really good competitor. if apple doesnt step up and fix its shitty firmware(im still running 1.1.4 btw..i tried 2.0 and couldnt stand it.) then i might switch.

The only thing that looks better than the iphone is the camera. Stylus input is retarded.Walt Mossberg, one of the most respected technology reviewers, says he can type on the virtual keyboard of the iPhone as fast as on a blackberry. If a 70 year old can, why can't you? Oh, and the interface looks like shitty Windows :P The interfaces are the same except in looks, where it's narrow and uninspired (this windows phone), or, at best, the same as the iPhone.

I had the Touch, and now I have the Diamond. The touch was slow as a turtle, the diamond is much faster, but still can not be compared to the iPhone, unfortunately. HTC still hasn't topped the iPhone's interface.

Function as a phone, without a doubt the iPhone can't compete. I know most want to blame it on AT&T but doesn't work that way. I've been with them for 5 yrs in the same area. iPhone drops 3-5 calls a day. I've had 3 iPhones from apple to fix it. Sound from speaker is a joke from the iPhone.
Keyboards I had no problem on the iphone or the Touch, but I have more choices with the touch. If I want a hardware keyboard I can have it with the Touch but not the iPhone.

I own both. Heres the way it works.
iPhone wins on "surfing the internet" but if you need/want to do anything else like download files, save pictures view sites with flash, Touch wins.
Media iphone wins if file types supported is not an issue. If it is then Touch wins.
Screen size quality iPhone wins without a doubt, The touch is just as responsive as the iPhone but thats it.
Basic functions included in phones iPhone looses. I should not have to "hack" a phone to send mms.

Even the lighting is diferent for the HTC shots. The coloring looks all washed out for the HTC but when they show the Iphone it has a nice dark back ground that enhances the color. This is a totally biased vid. Horrible.

The HTC is no competition for the iPhone. The HTC touch is extremely slow, it will begin to annoy you more and more because it's so frustrating to wait for apps to open etc.

Iphone loses badly. So what if its hard to break you can only do about 8 things on it lol. With the touch you can make it look like the iphone which is basically like modding it. Also its like having your own computer. The iphone just eats you money up is all. No point in buying and iphone for 400 bucks then pay a 4,000dollar bill or get a 300 page bill when you can get the smaller yet better touch which you pay about 90 a month of less and it does more.
