yo man your awesome would love to learn how u do everything mabye you could post some tutorials?... on how to like make sheaths and basic on making knifes things like that would be much appriciated :D
@ArtisanTony I was going to say use solid copper rivets, because I'd worry about the machete cutting the sinew (I assume that you use artificial sinew) but you could always drop a folded plastic insert into the sheath on the edge side.
@032125 The one thing I did not show in the video was the leather cement I used. This leather is really thick and I have had no problems with it. Thanks!
@pelletGUNguy After this sheath I learned how to stitch and now I do not use the rivets anymore so it sounds like what you did probably looks better. Thanks!
Some fine work there! Great video and thank you very much for the info on the origin of the leather. I have searched for a leather shop that sold leather and now I have found one!
Finally others wil be protected from my 28 & 26 inch Imacas machete!
Thanks! I get the leather form Tandy Leather Factory. We have on local and they have a lot of scrap pieces to choose from which are perfect for sheath making. A piece that size would be around $7.00 I think. I like the thick stuff. It has to be at least 1/8" thick. If you can't find any let me know and I'll send you some :)
Great, simple design!
It just occurred to me.... You are right handed but you designed that sheath for a left hand user, didn't you?

1:20 is bad cause you risk taking the temper out, if your gonna make a great sheath you might as well put the time into beveling your machete right

@J0llyGrn Thanks for the suggestion. I am soon going to stitch it and take the metal cap rivets out. Then I will wax it as you suggested.
