It's rumored that Google is trying for a new social site in 2 months. Orkut pretty much failed in the US (which only has a pathetic 2.2% user base on the site), so they are supposedly working on a new social site codenamed Google Me. It's rumored they'll launch it at their upcoming Google I/O conference in May. If it's true, it'll be interesting to see how it turns out. They flopped with Wave (on both the first AND second try) so it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Google's coders who created Orkut are extremely talented. Orkut is much more efficient than all the other social networking sites, the only problem is everyone is already used to Facebook. :(
