By all means, this is not a traditional Austrian folk dance.... It is merely an instrumental and choreographed adaptation of "The Lonely Goatherd" found earlier in the film when Maria and the children put on a play for Captain VonTrapp, Max, and Baroness Schrader.

Anybody in southern Germany, Switzerland, and Austria would never dance to this since this is definitely the work of Hollywood and not an authentic Landler.
