It would make a nice story. She's certainly no more incredible a suggestion than the nondescript Stratford man. Some questions, though:
1. Where did you get that about her signatures being on the plays?
2. Wouldn't she have been a bit young and inexperienced to have written the long and polished poems like Venus and Adonis?
3. Why would she have pretended to be a man in the sonnets? And why, go to all the trouble of writing the puns on the name 'Will' in 134, 135 and 136?
He is so excited. This is pretty breaking news-even the sites dedicated to finding out who the real author of Shakespeare's works is have not had time to study and confirm or discard this possibility. i would like to know if there is any evidence that Amelia Bassano had access to any eastern literature such as the Vedanta or the historical epics of India? Many of the characters and plots seem to be taken from those ancient texts. We are waiting to hear more...
