this song cuts both ways, not just son to father, but father to son/daughter.. especially when seperated. I worked with a great guy from Zimbabwe some years ago when this album came out. Even though he hadnt really heard of U2 and didn't know the words, he would still sing his heart out to this, as though he was singing to the little boy, his 6 year old son, that he had had to leave behind in Harare. We went our seperate ways that year, but I Hope that he and his boy were reunited..
