Michael deserved that award because in 2009 after he tragically passed away,his cds&downloads sold more than the highest selling cd @ the time,i believe by the black eyed peas.The 2003 cd included big hits which did deserve recognition...I still think he should've won artist of the year,because as you said Taylor only gained more popularity after the Kanye fiasco.It's a true shame what the music industry has come to.

@NatMJ21 Thanks, I guess the AMA is all about sales not recent creativity. This is why I don't watch award shows or pay attention to music charts, etc. I love Michael's music, but this was lame in my opinion. At any rate, let's hope that Epic/Sony figures out how to release music from the vaults

His death sparked millions of dollars worth of sells. Plus his albums were going platinum every year (1 million copies sold) before his death anyway, especially Thriller. But i am also suspicious about this. I don't watch that stuff either. It's probably a way to make the conspiracy less conspicuous.

It would have been so much nicer if there was a new album to vote on! I think fans who voted had to "make do" with the Number Ones. They felt that they must vote for Mike, almost like people were making up for what they didn't do when he was alive.

I'm glad I believed in him, now that hes gone. I loved him since the very first time I saw him on Ed Sullivan. I don't have the Number Ones, but I have others-my favorite being Invincible, and I had Invincible in my heart when I voted.

i'll give you my reason. i do understand your viewpoint, but here's my view. 2009 was his comeback year. death or no death; this generation was s'posed to witness his magic. death grabbed the king, just before he could show the world what he could do. he had a new album soon to be released in addition to his HUGE concert plan. Number Ones is his most recent work; so that's what was to be credited. i bet next year his new album would be nominated anyway. i think he deserved this. RIP michael..<3

NOW, they want to give awards & honors. Should've been done while MJ were still here to appreciate it. All of these award shows & the industry are full of sh*t.

yeah the music industry is pure crap. but the only thing is, like i said, he hasn't done anything the past few years so he hasn't been nominated. but he was gonna become big again this year. that was his goal. ironically, he died before that could happen; before we had stuff to honor him for. but we all got to see 'this is it' and how hard he'd been trying to win the world back..so we would have probably honored him next year for his new album&stuff. but yes i do understand what you're saying.

I saw the film This is it and i did not see anything i haven't seen before.

The hole concert was going to be a replay of his other concerts only made more modern and flashier with the 3D movies in the background.

The tree destroyer was the tank in another concert. Everything was already done ones.

The only new song was This is it and even this song was never a hit and never will be, this song was ones thrown out by MJ himself and was not good enough.

Don't get me wrong. I love Michael but he was not ready for a concert he had nothing new to show the fans. He should have been content with all he had accomplished and slowly work on hes health and a real comeback.

i think the reason for all of michael's winnings is because people failed to love him when he was here. it is kind of the people's way of 'apologizing.'

because his death marks a landmark in everyone's life. even if you aren't a fan, did you REALLY think that you would ever see the day that michael jackson died?

Great post, but the AMAs didn't give MJ a proper tribute. The 4 awards given to MJ equate to one major 'cop out'. Sorry, I gave MJ his props while he was still alive. All of this crap by the AMAs is bogus. Hope the Grammy Awards provide a fitting tribute.

Number Ones is the 2nd best selling CD of the year, so it's no surprise that it's a "favorite". And that's what the AMAs are about. "Favorites". It's not about who's the best singer or rapper.
