@Keyboarddan13 They don't make the VK-7 since the VK-8 was released, but you can perhaps find one on Ebay(that's how I found mine), or you could check out some forums.

@Keyboarddan13 Good luck with that! If you want the Jon Lord sound, the VK-7 is the way to go, it beats every newer clone in this department(even the VK-8) and it's a lot cheaper, but somewhat difficult to acquire. Drop my a line if you made any progress.

@Keyboarddan13 I use the VK-7's inner distortion simulation, which is really awesome, it has 5 different types of overdrive. Yes I also use a pedal to adjust the volume and the level of the distortion, it helps the dynamism a lot. Real Hammonds have in-built pedals so it's essential if you want the Hammond feeling.

@Keyboarddan13 I use a simple volume pedal. It doesn't affect the actual sound, it's the same as if I were turning up and down the organ's volume and overdrive knobs at the same time(which is obviously impossible to do while playing) only much more responsive. I didn't realise how important it was until I bought one though.

@MAURICIO2493 Hey, sorry, I don't understand Spanish, but I got your comment translated. There's no trick to the sound, I used the Heavy(under the 7th-Utility button) factory preset with a little bit of tweaking(but that's not really necessary) and it sounded like this. I also pulled out the first 7 drawbars. Thanks and salute!

Thanks a lot! The sound is entirely the sound of the Roland VK-7 organ. I didn't modify it with the amp or anything. I highly recommend it for purchase,but since it has gone out of production,it's hard to acquire. Its successor, the VK-8 is more expensive, and has some flaws, but it also has this sound. Another option might be the Native Instruments B4 software, which has nice overdrive, but IMO its overall sound isn't as good. Finally, there is the real Hammond with a Marshall amp :) Good Luck!

Thank you! I highly recommend you to familiarize yourself with the Purple MK2 discography(Mark 1 is great as well, although it's different). In Rock(on which this song can be found) might be the best start, exceptional and diverse playing by Lord with some of his greatest sounds ever.
