karina was a sad event. i meant who'd thought and a major American cities' citizens could be called and treated as refugees (non-american). But whats even more noticing was the out-pouring of love. It just shows you that there is so much more love the hearts of the fellow man, there is alot of good in mankind. and katrina showed it. despite if fema was corrupt or louisiana gov. who handled all the donations were corrupt. despite that. all the love showed really makes me proud to be an american.

Nah, they're not man. Overtones are produced by the outer parts of the skin. Those things are the point of contact for the stick. Plus they're rubber pads, also called practice pads that a drummer uses to practice without making a lot of noise.

I've been drumming for 6 years. I've never seen anything that someone would use to completely stop the head vibrating for any purpose other than to not make noise.

Look, I can't argue this with every person, I've replied to it already. Go to a drum kit and put a rubber pad on the drum where the stick makes contact. See what it sounds like, they do this on live shows when the drummers are playing to a backing track or to someone elses playing.

Look, I've been a drummer, musician and amateur producer for many years. I simply suggest you get a rubber pad onto a drum and play on it with any heavy concert mallet. You'll get little to no consistent, tonal or percussively valuable notes.
