In this comparison your launch angles for the mp53 was 2 or 3 degrees more than the angles in the mp53 comparison with the Titleist ap2 video. Is there a significance in the different launch angles used in the two reviews?
Great video! - you mentioned shot-shaping and attack angles! Can you explain more about this? How can I shape, say my 6i, to a higher or lower ballflight?
Do I need to go flatter to go up? - or do I need to go steeper to go up?
What happens when I change to ball position in my stance? How should I swing the club if I move the ball forward?
Mark thanks for all your videos. After visiting the surrey fitting centre i'm getting mp53s with project x 6.0 shafts. I have a late release and 'punch' down through the ball, so the 53 generated better launch angle (16.4) and spin (4800) for me vs the 63. I also liked the bigger sweet spot. These videos are brilliant (love your swing Mark!) but get down to the fitting centres if you can. I currently have hogan apex blades.... mizunos carried 20 yards further (184 v 164). Amazing clubs.
@dondearan it really doesn't matter what your handicap its more how good you are at striking the sweetspot and how high you launch the ball im a 25ish handicap and i can hit clubs simailar to the 63 just because im good at hitting the sweetspot and when i do miss the sweetspot its either thick or thin never left or right for me. so it all depends on how good you are at striking the sweetspot.
Your videos are pretty good and very informative but looking at a lot of the comments, people need to stop getting caught up in brands and handicaps. It doesn't matter what the sticker says it's how you hit it. I'm a mid to high handicapper yet i absolutely cream the old Mizuno MP68 blades but went with the MP53 with KBS TourX shafts because of how versatile and forgiving they are. The point being people would say i'm not good enough for them, don't listen buy what you hit well and not a brand
can u help me a bit?. i dont know what i wonna buy so i think of buying the callaway diablo or the teitlest ap2? i dont know whats best, and ive had some bad equipment for like 5 years
I've only started playing golf yet I hit the mp58's a lot better, further and with more control than my cavity x22's. I only have a demo mp58 6 iron but I feel a lot more confident when hitting with the thinner form. Is this normal for some beginners? The blocky x22's just feel like I'm striking the ball with a sledge hammer. I've sold my x22's now and plan to purchase a 4 and 9 iron (mp58) to make sure they're the clubs for me.
HI Mark, is there any difference in terms of distance between MP53 and MP63?
I tried on the range the MP53 with Dynamic Gold S300 and loved them but I am afraid that the high trajectory could cause some distances loss. Is the more pentrating MP63 trajectory also a benefit in terms of distance?
Just bought the mp 53's, pretty dissapointed with the performance. Ive used a set of old Titleist 990's for years now, always felt confident with them but considering they were over 11 years old thought i'd need to upgrade, make use of some new technology. After a half dozen rounds these MP53's DEF seem like a downgrade, poor feel, little workability. Anyone who thinks these will perform anywhere near blades, think again.
A friend of mine sold me a set of mizunos for 20 bucks. Guess u could say it was fate, because I love these clubs. will definitely look into the latest Mizuno clubs
Hey man. thanks for the good and intuitive videos. I've been playing now with mp-30/mp-32 combo set. Loving the Mizuno feel. This 53 is getting a bit of a buzz. So how about it a review with it with different shaft types. I'd love to great more spin and launch as our greens are so heavily arctic here in lapland.. for example I've got the impression the kbs tour is kind of a shaft which developes spin and launch.
Mark thanks for this and other video reviews - they're excellent. I currently have a set of Mizuno mp52s and have just ordered the mp53s. I play off 6 and found your review helpful. I'll post again to let you know how it goes but initial impression at the store was they're excellent. I'd also urge anyone who's looking at any new set of clubs to get the right shafts. I use stiff Dynamic Gold - but going to a Nippon shaft (which weighs less) and it's added about 10 yards per club! Best, Paul
I'd like to second moggy888's request on the Miura CB-501s. They've garnered something of a cult-like status among golf enthusiasts. Although I've heard many good things, I've never actually seen a video review of these irons (or any in the Miura line, for that matter), likely because dealers who carry them are few and far between. That said, if you managed to get your hands on a set, you'd be the only review on Youtube. Something to ponder!
Hi great comparison, pretty new to golf but really enjoying the game, I got myself some Nike OS Slingshot Irons I thought they were ok until I used my brothers TaylorMade RAC MB Tp irons. The feel I get from the is fantastic and gives me confidence I hit pretty much the same as I do with the Nike's. So please could you recommend any other Forged irons that might be worth trying they don't have to be new clubs either.
im looking for some blades soon, but im having trouble testing each different one out, can you do a quick comparison of like the titleist mb's, mizuno mp 68's and any other, thanks, keep the vids coming
Thanks for the this comparison Mark. I actually traded in my MX-300 for a mix set of MP-53 (4-7 irons) and MP-63 (8-PW). Amazing how they made the 53 more forgiving than the MX-300 and the diamond muscle just takes the feel to the highest level. Eaasy to understand why the 300 was culled from the iron line-up. I went with the 63's in the shorter irons for the slightly thinner topline- they just looked better to my eye. Can't wait till they arrive! Thanks so very much Mark!
I would rather like to see the 58 vs others like 63, 53 or even the ap2. I mentioned the ap2 because they both have some kind of insert in the back and would like to know what that does to the 58 vs ap2 and if it is easier to hit vs. the 63 or other more bladed clubs! Thanks

I went in today and tried the Taylormade MBs and then I hit the 63s and I couldn't hit them well at all after hitting the MBs well. Why is this?

Japanese forged clubs are all over the news these days. Can you compare the MIURA CB-501 versus the Mizuno MP-53 or MP-63? Thx in advance.
