Answer to your question? I am the driver and previous owner of this vehicle in the Video Jimmy O'Connor. Video Shot by Bruce Mortensons Nephew at Englishtown Raceway. The engine was a factory 2JZ block from watanabe motors and was stroked and bored using factory crank which had been knife edged using carillo rods and arias pistons. Water jackets were sealed no water or radiator. Twin turbo ethanol fueled.

@Tj1056 you can buy a 1250 hp 2jz from boost logic for $58k or a big block with 2700 hp from NRE for $54K. Sure you can build it yourself a little cheaper but the same can be said for the big block. not to mention 1250 hp will put you in ~ mid 8's where the NRE motor could easily power 6's and even 5's with a really good setup. The question was not about money. it was "why swap out a 2jz" So I gave an honest answer "more power" these guys are not worried about cost. 2jz cant touch 2700hp
@ruthlessone3k and in the end the Japanese put down nearly just as much power and time with half the size... and the rotary 1.3l does 6 ... and like i say if you want to see 6 and 5 you are going to need about 75k-100k+ ...

Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Almost the same time is just enough to get you second place aka first loser. These guys are shooting for champ and money is no issue. They need more power than the 2JZ can provide.

@ztunelover Yes the red tt vette belonging to Rod Saboury is street legal and can run a 6.75 then there is also Larry Larson's Nova which can run 6.95. There are a couple more but I cant remember the names.
And your right the results are available for anyone to see. The Adrl website shows that Gary white is currently in 12th place behind many big blocks!
