Core i7 is Quad Core Pentium D with the performance of Core 2 Quad.Since in most benchmarks you get better results with HT disabled it means that it is not needed.Also In real world applications there is no difference in performance between ci7 and PhII.Also In most of the games Ph II 940 is slightly better then Core i7 920(2-3fps but they are there) yet the Ph II 940 is cheaper than Core i7 920.

I have a question for all Intel children here.How would you explain that Intel Core i7 920 @ 3Ghz is 30% at maximum faster than AMD Phenom II X3 720 @ 3Ghz? 8 cores vs. 3 cores and the difference is only 30%.Besides the simple fact that you are comparing AMD CPUs that are direct competitor to C2Q/D with Core i7 means that AMD has done better job than expected :) As you know Ph II was meant to challenge C2Q not i7.Also the real world difference in performance between Ph II and i7 is none
