Very interesting playing approach. He plays so melodically that you can hear the whole big band playing with him. Its definitely a different approach than someone like Elvin who is pulling you away from the rhythms in the head. I like both- its hard to pull off either well. Im usually stuck playing licks...

wow. some of those hand licks seem like they came strait from "the song remains the same" live version of moby dick. i wonder if John Bonham stole it from somewhere else too? Either way...I ve seen Jeff hamilton play at least sever or eight times in person and he always sounds good.

@totigerus Bonham did not steal, but was heavily influenced by Joe Morello and probably picked up on Joe's occasional playing part of the Take Five solo with his hands.
